FAO London Blades & those going down for the weekend

Are we to take from this that no particular plans are in place Saturday because if that's the case, we may as well stay round Brentford and Kew?

Just a warning - the Botanist (where we've been for pre-match ales before Brentford games the last couple of seasons) has changed hands and is no longer a microbrewery. Shame.

Mrs Balham and I called in at The Tap on the Line at Kew Gardens station the other weekend (celebrating the third most expensive decision I'll ever make!) and that's a decent little boozer, a good place to start if you want a drinking tour of Kew.

In addition, the Magpie and Crown on Brentford High Street had some good ales on earlier in the week but that's a little bit out of the way.

I'll be having a (relatively) quiet one on Saturday as it's my dad's birthday on Sunday. So we'll go out for a meal or something. The auld fella's pushing 60, so he can only do one big day of drinking a week these days :)

So I'll see yer all in't Green Man on Sunday. If we win, I'll be destroying things somewhere in central London until the sun comes up.

SF and co are staying at the Holiday Inn at Brentford Lock... just round the corner from the M&C.

Haven't decided yet. It's just me and my mate, looking to meet up with some people off here, your good self included if you're around!

Me and a few mates are meeting outside Wembley Park tube station between 1.00 and 1.30pm and then moving on to one of the designated pubs. You and your mate are more than welcome to join us fella. Is the Aussie girl here for this weekend?

So what was that decision?
And what was the second and first most expensive decisions?

This is the place to be on Saturday night, WATER RATS VENUE in KINGS CROSS, Blades bands SABELLA and MALF are playing and United's director JIM PHIPPS is introducing the bands, lots of Blades coming, will be a cracking night, its £8 on the door but we have 200 discount £5 tickets for Blades fans which will be available at the doors.

Right, decision made.

There is a contingent of us travelling down Saturday AM. We'll be going out to watch the other semi-final and have a few pints in the Tottenham Court Road area (Charlotte Street/Goodge Street) as helpfully suggested by WalthamstowBlade .

We'll be meeting up with a few others who have been in touch via PM, but it would be good to see a few of you down there.

So if you are a London Blade or like us, making a bit more of a weekend of it, you're more than welcome to join us.

If you want my number to keep in touch/find out where we are at, just drop me a PM.

Sunday morning, I think we'll be going somewhere nearer Wembley, before moving on to the Green Man for one or two before kick-off. Will let people know what we're doing :)

Foxy, the main London Blades contingent will be heading to the north london tavern near kilburn station for pre match drinks. It opens at midday if you don't find any better options

One last suggestion, Wahaca on Charlotte Street is lovely Mexican food.

Let the games begin!!!!!

I will be in KX for a few pints from 12.00 @

with my splinter group of LB's and various vagabonds.2 minutes from KX and easy to jump on the met line for the match. Heading off to meet my lightweight friend Mr Blackheath Blade at Wembley park. Did suggest to LB but got high jacked by some radio boy - however he may be.

the plan for post match is for London Blades to meet in central London at our spiritual home

To my mind and many others this is the best boozer London has to offer.p

And luck has it just round the corner from Trafalgar Sq for a victory climb on a lion or 2. Hopefully!

Only got to come from East Anglia tomorrow so safe journey to those with more miles to do. Tonight I shall eat curry with my piggy brother and remind him of which Sheffield team is at Wembley tomorrow!!!

The missus is away for a couple of weeks so...I'm spending the day working on my dissertation.

Linz - there are plans in place for Blades fans. There is a gig tonight in Kings Cross at The Water Rats. Sabella from Sheffield and MALF ( A Blade who has Dave Clayton (Another Blade) on keyboards. Jim Phipps is MC'ing and it looks like Mr McCabe will be there too as well as ex-players. Its all over the internet and has been mentioned in this thread. No idea why you have posted the above and would rather stay in Brentford than come along to The Water Rats?? Very apathetic

1 - Attendance at The Water Rats isn't, as far I know, compulsory.

2 - If, as the OP did, you want to watch the other semi the area round the Grays Inn Road is a crap place to try and do it. Where would you suggest? The Lucas Arms? It's one of the biggest toilets in town.

3 - Charlotte Street is about a 20 minute walk from The Water Rats so if anyone wants to do both it isn't hard. The train from Warren Street to King's X takes about 5 minutes.

disagree Lucas Arms is a fine pub. if you want something a bit more poncy try the Harrison just round the corner (no footy though).

also worth a look for the match

and or the skinners arms on Judd st just round the corner.

Whut?! Not sure what the anger is for?

Gigs aren't the best place for catching up with old mates and "they are Blades" is not exactly the best reason for seeing a band.

Fair play to 'em, but it's not for us. I'd rather go somewhere that allows us to chat and isn't charging us to get in.

Just for clarification, Nowt against Sabella, Malf or anyone involved with the night (I know Rob from Sabella and others involved) but we were speaking more about the original idea of meeting up with the LBs and others on here for tonight's match.

Yeah, we'd have been a bit hotter on merging all the threads that are mentioning it if so!

Bloody hell... Didn't realise we weren't free to do what we fancied tonight.

Right then kids. Quit with the infighting, leave that to the grunters. Do as you please - we're all big boys and girls and are able to swim against the tide if we wish.

One other thing, enjoy your evenings and keep safe - it's a jungle down there.

linz/foxy

have you decided where you are watching the match as trying to meet you with blackhealth blade. He currently has no phone signal

Well that ended up being marvellous fun. Cheers, tak, gracias to the various bods who ventured out.

10 o'clock and it's bed time?

What are youngsters today coming to?

Teatime. Back at the hotel (which is a pub). Getting some scran and a night cap.

We did start at 9am too!
