We're getting into London early Saturday AM and were thinking of getting stuff dropped at the hotels before heading out to watch the Arsenal v Wigan on the Saturday evening.

Anyone fancy a pre-wembley pint with us on Saturday evening or have any suggestions as to a decent location to head to?

Are you staying somewhere central?

Me and Linz are staying on Hanger Lane and the others at Brentford Lock. We're close enough to public transport to get more or less anywhere though.

Not sure what time we're setting off yet but I assume we'll also be going out for the Arsenal v Wigan game. I think the plan is to go into Camden. The more Blades the better!

Camden is a bit of a toilet. I was going to suggest round by Charlotte Street/Goodge Street in the West End, round the back of Tottenham Court Road (so on the Central and Northern lines). Not too busy, some nice pubs, a decent selection of restaurants if you want some grub.

I think i'm going to be busy on the Saturday night sadly.

Where are people thinking for pre-match pints? We were in this place for the last playoff

woodnw1.com

just around the corner from marylebone or baker street and no queues at the bar.

The Moon On The Hill or whatever it's called in Harrow will be our pre-match watering hole I think.

I like WalthamstowBlade suggestion. Plenty of decent pubs and food down there, central enough for all to get to, and some decent ales in some of them. Mind you at least one hasn't got a TV from memory. :)

I used to watch football in the One Tun on Goodge Street quite a bit.

I like the area, I used to work on Gresse Street (The Bricklayers is a lovely Sam Smith's). Its like a bit of Soho that crawled across Oxford Street and lost most of the wankers along the way. There's a lovely family owned Italian place on Goodge Street, a nice Indian called Curryleaf on Charlotte Street, and a pub called The Newman Arms which is apparently renowned for its pies. Other pubs to check out are the Duke of York and the Fitzroy Tavern (another Sam Smith's). There's one called The Rising Sun on Tottenham Court Road and The Northumberland Arms a bit further up towards Warren Street.

Trivia: In the Len Deighton spy novels that were turned into films with Michael Caine in them the HQ of MI6 was a grubby office on Charlotte Street.

Oh, and there's this place now for the ale fans...

If you come out at Tottenham Court Road tube, go up Rathbone Place to get to Charlotte Street and stick your head in Bradley's Spanish Bar on the way. It's a unique little place.

Is the one tun the one with a pub on the opposite Corner, called the something Tavern?

The One Tun used to have a pub opposite (I cracked my head open in it once) but it's been a restaurant for a while now. I was down there yesterday and it looks like some gatro-pubby type place.

Another plus point of this area for Foxy is that if he ends up missing the tube back to Hanger Lane there's the 18 bus from Warren Street which runs all night.

Were staying on Hangar Lane as well, (fox and goose) but wont be arriving until Sunday, my mate is working Saturday.
Staying over Sunday night so that I can have a few pre match pints and whilst we're down there we might as well have a night out down the big smoke

I'm staying at the Eurotraveller in Harrow. Got the last available room on Saturday night!

£134 for 2 nights which I didn't think was too bad.

Any of you guys staying over with kids. Down Thursday to Monday as they're on half term.

Wouldn't mind a meet up Sat night and/or Sunday after game if celebrating ! But wouldn't want to cramp anyone's style having the kids with us. (15 and 11 and proper Kop S.T. Blade mad lads thou ! )

Camden is a bit of a toilet.

Not suggesting it as a meeting place for the semi final shenanigins, but Camden is a much better place for a beer nowadays than it was not long ago. Black Heart, the BrewDog place, The Goose and Crown and the Edinboro is a decent crawl. Camden plus Kentish is a corker :)

I am staying at the Holiday Inn Wembley with some men on Sunday. Sorry if this has been covered deep in a thread somewhere and I know pre-match boozers have been discussed. I am wondering where to celebrate reaching the final after. Is there anywhere worthwhile in the area, or should we get the tube somewhere else, if so where would you recommend? I normally come straight home after the match cursing the football gods, so this is a bit of a novelty.

Thanks

Kentish Town has some cracking alehouses now, it's improved enormously over the last couple of years.

Start at Tapping the Admiral then via The Grafton, The Lion & Unicorn, The Oxford, The Assembly House before finishing at The Southampton Arms via Dirty Burger.

*burp*

Didn't want to start a new thread on this, but it is about London blades, so I'll ask the question. On Sunday I'm travelling by train from benfleet station on my way to fenchurch, passing through Dagenham, barking, and west ham stations on the way. I'm 60 yrs of age, 6 ft and pretty well built. Also old school blade, and wouldn't normally take shit from anyone. But I'm taking the daughter with me and wondered if you think it safe to wear the colours. Just bought the 125 yrs retro shirt and want to wear it without a jacket. I know there are a few nobs out there and probably won't have any bother from a few civilian spammers. What do you think. I'm getting too old for that shit. UTB.
