Not being funny but they're hardly likely to broadcast such information?

There's still very few actual transfers completed and I'm certain we'll already be working on getting people in.

Maybe a touch of patience required?

Normally yes, but as I said we're already weeks behind in the planning and we have lots and lots of talk of the grand plans, but as I said I'm not interested in this side, perhaps that works well in an interview for the Managers job, but when I hear the manager talk I want all this backed up.

"We've bought player x in on a 3 year deal to add bite to midfield" "so and so player will work perfectly with our new striker because he loves to get down the wing and deliver the crosses"

I got the details of the venue but the "delegates list" wasnt forthcoming .Was humming and arring about whether to travel across town for something that could have turned out to be a non event ,as it turned out a family ilness meant I couldnt go but if I`d known who was going to be there I may have been more positive about going in the first place .

Will the transcript be available ?

I didn't know who was going until the day before and couldn't post whether Danny would be there or not as he did have a meeting prior to it and it was touch and go whether he would be turning up

So how did you rate DW's performance, Kopped?

Have to agree with Swiss need to get on with things i expected to have seen the player release list by now i can't help but think as time goes on we will start to miss out on players etc i noticed Barnsley signing free transfers one being Davies from Chesterfield got 25 goal last season.

The signings for clubs in our league and the league below are growing day by day, lets just hope our quiet during this period is us working on deals and not letting valueable time pass us by.

Swiss, have you had a personality transplant? ;-)

Of course we need action, but Wards is right, there's no benefit in us being told what the transfer budget is and a considerable downside and the same goes for possible targets.

One of the accusations in the past has been that the club didn't communicate at all well, now you're saying that it's all very well them telling us what the plan is, but we need to see it put into practice, so a bit damned if they do, damned if they don't.

Lenners has kidnapped Swiss and is using his account!!!? ;)

Now you come to mention it, I made a reference to lenners when I wrote that and then deleted it, I didn't want to fuel the obsession theory. It is a worry because everything Swiss is posting these days bears the hallmark of the ex-doommonger extraordinaire.

Me too, but where's your money going right now?

On discussing the merits of a new man at Christmas.

I've gone from outright annoyance to real sympathy for Wilson. The next bout of anger (after inevitable failure) would have certainly been aimed at the board. In that way, Wilson's appointment was a master stroke by McCabe.

It will be interesting to see how the new era of total football will see fans flocking back to BDTBL. Maybe the rules of human nature (and people only turning up to watch teams win, despite continual argument for the opposite) will really be written on our own turf.

Actually, I'm more of the opinion that McCabe has totally lost the plot, so all bets are off.

Ha ha thanks Trig, no I'm just fed up with the constant shite we're being fed.

Perhaps I should clarify this a little. I'm not expecting us to publicly announce our transfer budget and the targets, but all we've heard from Wilson and everyone else at the club is that we'll play this entertaining and effective brand of football.

Great!

Ok so now, what I expect is for Wilson to start telling us that we're in talks with players, were in talks with clubs about players and of course that he and the chairman have worked out how were going to fund this revolution.

But we're not hearing that are we. Just that he'll win the fans over...

Communication is all well and good, but if its without substance then its just wasting everyones time.

You can't prove nothing, although Foxy can prove the consistency of my IP addresses being that of Swiss and not Lenners ;)

I think Wilson has his hands tightly tied. Our wage budget is huge, the players are shite - he has so little room for manoeuvre. Expect slow movement - it's not the manager's fault - but highlights the size of the job and the need for a manager who can hold the fans support. Nice one McCabe.

Hooray! we've appointed a no 2 - sorry to say I've never heard of him. So is he any good?

frank barlow , key member of the TC era team
dig that oasis barnet

Key member of the reserves to be perfectly Frank! He was a run of the mill player in truth but has a very good reputation as a coach and assistant. Another good appointment I think.

Welcome on board the Proper Football Express, Frank.

Frank Barlow, Frank Barlow, oh ,oh Frank Barlow. As a player he didn't quite make the grade at United, he was a classy player but as I recall we were seen as a good attacking side but lacking a bit of grit: Barlow was replaced by Hockey.

I'm pleased with this appointment which has slipped under the radar. He was coach at Hillsborough for quite a while when they had a decent team and I recall being impressed when I heard him interviewed a while ago when he was at Wigan.

I'm not too bothered that there is little news coming out of BDTBL. There was enough hot air and sounding off when Wilson was appointed to last until Christmas. Possibly much of the cause of that was the club and Mc Cabe in particular, feeding the frenzy leading up to the appointment with snippets about which prospective manager's were a possibility for the job. When we had all made up our minds, to announce someone who was hardly anyone's first choice was bound to lead to disappointment. We should promise less achieve more. ............... But the knee jerk car park protests were at best embarrassing and at worst made us look like a lynch mob. Quietly let Wilson get on with the job.

You've never heard of Frank Barlow seriously? He played for us in the late sixties.

Swiss was probably a bit confused, he's probably more familiar with this one:-

http://coronationstreet.wikia.com/wiki/Frank_Barlow

He was of course Ken's Dad and a bit disappointed to have raised a son who wanted to better himself by studying. Quite what he'd make of Darren's and Crouchy's contribution to this thread is anybody's guess.

He did also father a brother to Ken, David, who became a professional footballer and who married Stan and Hilda's daughter, Irma Ogden.......

Trig has always had at least one obsession in his life......

It's a bit conceited of Swiss to dismiss our new coach on the basis that he's never heard of him, therefore he must be useless.

Lol where have you bin over the last 40 years? :)
After saying that you could mention lots of names of players I've never heard of. :)

Remind me again where I did this?

I just said I've never heard of him so asked for comments on whether he was any good as a coach.

The fact that more people have mentioned his unspectacular playing days hasn't tainted my open mind on him, I would just like to know if he's any good as a coach/ assistant manager. Apparently Pinchy and Eskimo reckon he's a decent appointment, but i'll wait for anyone to let me know his achievements as a coach/ assistant manager...

Has he won anything as part of a management team? How is he working with youngsters? Does he favour a style of football? Is he attack/ mid/ def minded? Whats he like with getting teams working on set pieces? Does he have experience in this division and what are his scouting links like?

On the flip side, has he the experience turning sows ears into silk purses or saving a club from relegation, because you can't rule out that this might be needed if we get a slow start...

The OS/ club makes me laugh though, make a point mentioning his former United history but then, get all bent out of shape elsewhere at the slightest mention of Wednesday connections.

To be perfectly honest I couldn't give a shite about a player/ director/ manager/ coach's past being at United or Wednesday, it rarely matters. The only time it matters is when the afore mentioned don't have a clue about our club and the way we are. And if thats the case be they Blades, Pigs or linked to any other club they shouldn't be at the club if they don't understand the basics of being a Blade.
