Fans at the end

Disappointing and borderline embarrassing imho.

I'm generally not one who cares if people want or need to leave early. And I'm realistic about regular poor atmospheres at home because I witness them everywhere, even though I'd obviously prefer it to be better.

However, we've had a few games this season where even after wins, very few have been left to clap the players off.

Today, Boxing Day, sell out crowd, 3-1 win to go 8 points clear in the automatic promotion places and hardly anyone left in the ground to applaud the players off.

Even in League 1 we had 75% of the Kop staying behind and giving a rousing cheer.

Struggling to remember such a pathetic number of fans left to acknowledge a win on a Bank Holiday full house in such a lofty position.

I know individuals will respond with their own circumstances, plenty which I understand and respect, but in over 40 years watching us, today genuinely surprised me how few waited just a few minutes to clap us off.

I've seen more when we've been shit in this league and below.
Did you stay to clap the lads off at the end. If yes don’t worry about others pal. You can’t be responsible for others actions/chouces

Your heart was in it until the end don’t stress to much about it

Just putting forward a different view point, it takes an absolute age for the players to come over the the kop after the game and maybe that’s why a lot don’t hang around.

By the time they’ve gathered in the centre circle, shook hands multiple times with every team mate and the opposition it can be 3-4 mins after the final whistle.

This isn’t a dig at our club by the way, it’s just how football is these days

Agree with that pal 100%. I think most want to just get off after the game tbh.

We always stay to clap the players off. if people leave early that's up to them. perhaps if they gave full-time results over the tannoys. might encourage people to hear the results while clapping the players off.

Every home game me and me father clap em off till end but yesterday we left bang on FT due to having boxing day plans and brought the car.

It's one thing fans leaving early, it's another not waiting around to clap the players. They get clapped at the end of the game. I don't see why fans should be expected to stay and then give them another clap 5 minutes later. People have lives, families, work, commitments etc. Or just want to avoid the traffic. End of season, fine, but otherwise it seems a strange thing to pull people up on.

You've every right to leave early if you've paid your money you can do what you want. Sing, don't sing. Stay til the end. Chat with your mates outside the kop whilst the game is in play. Totally up to you

But don't get butt hurt when people say you're a shit supporter. There's more to supporting a team than paying 400 quid a year

Because I wore too many layers last home match and was sweating my t*ts off, I opted for only a t-shirt and leather jacket yesterday, with no hat or scarf.
Was dithering the whole way through the match and felt like I was going to get pneumonia. Only reason I left on 82. Normally I wouldn't. Overheard some people saying they had to leave at half time for being too cold.
Some of it must have been to do with not wearing appropriate clothing.

This is a good point , they shake hands with everyone , talk and discuss , then walk over to the edge of John Street and then slowly walk around !

Always something to find, to have a good moan.

Since when has that become the norm? People should always go a bit mental when we score, not just stand and applaud. We're watching football not cricket or golf.
are we guilty of only remembers the good bits because as fans we got to on average 28-30 games a season. you cant remember them all maybe we only remember the derby games, or the run in / play off games. we dont remember bolton in november

although saying this i would love to be atmosphere of Argentineans & Moroccans. but qoute i think from gary lineker but i cant never remember that biggest excitement comes from the biggest pressure

They all had to rush home early so they could post mean things about Chris Wilder and Billy Sharp you see.

Otherwise they'd be in serious danger of losing the biggest-shitcunt-fans-in-the-entire-league spot.

We were playing Coventry, our fans weren't even the biggest shitcunts at the Lane yesterday.

Girl behind me wearing ripped jeans, must have been freezing!

Yes, totally agree, and not ‘put on’ either.

Two posters, neither of whom was there, take a brief shot of people clapping to suggest that our fans don’t really celebrate our goals whist missing the fans on the Kop jumping up on both second half goals. You can’t get much more pathetic in a desire to knock anything. Look at the highlights ffs.

Cue “l’ve been a Blade for x years” as if that excuses stupid posts.

Job was done I left early because I did not want to be stuck in a multi story car park for 2 hours like last match....People always want to applauded a good win but common sense always wins UTB....Will be stuck in that Multi Story again but not Boxing Day I am busy UTB

It’s a nightmare being stuck in the one next to moor market. The one above the casino isn’t too bad.

You wouldn't be stuck anywhere if you stayed to applaud the team off then went for a pint afterwards

Think fans simply cleared off quickly because they were cold. Before the game there was a cold wind blowing through the South Stand concourse and I was cold before the game even started. The Behind the Blades video shows fans on the kop looking frozen stiff.
My feet only warmed up when I was halfway back to Harrogate. I didn't leave until the players had left the pitch though.

He wouldn't be stuck anywhere or had to pay anything if he had parked on any of the streets around the lane as it was a bank holiday (free parking) 👍

There was a shot of the kop after we scored and people were just applauding. We used to leap around and hug each other. Sign of the times I suppose.
It's not allowed anymore, invading peoples personal space, standing, laughing, joking, talking to people you know, conversing with strangers when somebody else was sat next to them last week is a sure sign that you are not one of the revered season ticket holders and as such can be looked down on.

As a pay on the dayer sitting in a new seat for the first time means that you don't belong and are frowned upon if you have any enthusiasm at all, if you make the mistake of trying to spread some enthusiasm you are likely to get thrown out by the stewards after the complainers start moaning about your over exuberance spoiling their afternoon nap.
