Former Sarfend midfielder, Ryan Leonard.

Leonard is born and bread a Plymouth (Devon) boy.

I have family from Plymouth, been there dozens of times.
Football isn’t such a big deal there, rugby union is just as , if not more popular.
So he’s going to witness a big culture shock on Friday. He’ll have not witnessed this kind of atmosphere before.

When I saw the thread tile the first one I thought of was Leonard Rossiter. Always remember when he died, it must have been Friday night / early Saturday morning, Blades were at Leeds that day (October 1984 off the top of my head) and it was the main news on the Saturday morning.

th

From bygone days in London (sigh)

I didn't have me haircut there though, I used to go to Murrays Mops at Tinsley.

Played for us between 1924 and 1931. Late in the 1928 FA Cup match at S6 with the score being 1-1, Wendy had a corner and then there was a big scramble in the muddy goalmouth but all the players had lost sight of the ball and all of them were looking around for it. Most of the fans in the ground could see the ball a yard or two from the goal line. Left back Birks was the first player to spot it and ran to clear the ball away. We won 4-1 in the replay
