Fake shirts

Think you need an eyetest to be honest if you can't spot the fakes this season, unless there are some new high quality ones now.

The ones I've seen are bright tomato red, have a weird waffle texture all over them, and the wrong badge (which is also not centred on the stripe).

I know the ones you refer too. I've seen loads with the same texture as the front stripes on the plain red sleeves and back. But, the best (worst) I saw was in the Golden Lion - Bright Red (almost orange). The sponsor on front and sleeve was printed/dyed on the shirt, not a transfer like the real ones, it was all the same print like they'd got a white shirt and just sent it through a printer. The PL Badge was also printed on... TBF the Blades and Adidas badges were stitched 😂

WhiteHawk has real and Genuine Home and Away, spot the differenceIMG_20190927_171506.jpgIMG_20190817_102622.jpg

The Home is definitely more noticeable. The China fakes are like the 1997 play Off Final defeat material.

I've ordered the Lime Green 3rd, just because it won't be on sale in the Club Shop.

Can't go wrong for £14 delivered.

£55 for a t shirt is nothing really? Christ, do me a favour.
I like quality stuff so I'm used to paying it. But try telling my grandad, our lasses dad, grandad, even my mother that. I get my head ripped off when I tell them how much some of the stuff I wear is but I certainly wouldn't consider it 'nothing really' - I know it's a lot.

You can buy an outfit in Primark for £20 quid
False economy mate plus quality never goes out of style imo

The ones to go for are the fakes with automatic movements. I've had a fake Rolex for over 20 yrs now and it's still going strong, never had the back off and is accurate to about 5 minutes a month. I'm pretty certain I'm not depriving some orphans in Switzerland out of their daily crusts.
On a lads stag trip to Prague some years ago my mate bought a fake Rolex for £15 from a Chinese bloke in the weekly market. After 2 days of wearing it and showing anyone who would listen we all trudged off to the airport where a Brit asked him for the time explaining his phone was dead. My mate proudly flashed his arm only to his horror he watched the hands fall off as he lifted his arm. The remaining 9 of us never stopped laughing all the way home. Obviously it wasn’t made by the same people who made yours!

Yeah the lime green third is an interesting curio.

I'll always notice the badge because it's the wrong one but the away kit is pretty much bang on apart from colour, it's a bit darker grey/ bluer, and the red is too bright.

I fully accept that I spend a lot of time staring at kits at the beginning of the season so probably am more aware of the little details. The majority of people might not notice the badge or colour.

My issue is the glorification of these kits, if you want one I have no issue, they're easy enough to procure from the vendor, but when you have people on Facebook like "don't get ripped off by the club shop, got this from China for a tenner and it's exactly the same" when they're not, and people selling them on eBay at replica kit RRPs to unsuspecting people they should shut it down.

God forbid the inferior materials go up while someone's wearing it a bonfire or something.

I'm same. When I'm stood in boozer queuing I just look at the sleeves on the home shirt and count - real, real, real, fake, real.. it passes on the time.

When we played 5 aside we used to buy Thailand specials for our kit. Had some proper quality ones. Best 2 were the Dutch home shirt and that like pinky orange Barca away. Still got them somewhere, must be 7 or 8 years old and bang same

£500 a pop to service an omega these days. Great watches though
If you go to Omega ADs. For an early 70s one, unless it’s a real collectors item like a Speedy, where it’s a complicated movement and you want it done properly, you can get it done at a back street watch repairers for around £100, which is fine for the simple entry level models like a Geneve.

I can't tell the difference between real and fake

Bought the fake, seemed decent but the lighter colour, old badge and tight fit made me buy the official one, at first I thought I liked it but I'm not impressed tbh, massive USG sponsor on the sleeve is quite, well.. Shit, isn't it? After wearing the official one only 3 times it has a few bobbles and feels generally quite cheapo, except it was £55! If the Thai dudes would have got the badge, colouring and silky bits right on the fake, I would have DEFINITELY gone with that.

USG is such a shit sponsor, roll on next seasons kit...

Bollox to it, I can live with a few bobbles for £9

Bad news for you, it'll still have USG on it unless the Prince goes all Chansiri on us and puts HRH Abdullah or something on it.

I was going to New York and one of the young lads at work asked me to get him a fake Gucci watch, the one with the green and red striped face and strap. $15 from a street stall near Maceys.

Looked quite good and he was quite pleased with it.

He was one of those who took his watch off at work and put it on his desk calculator so he could always see the time. During a team meeting about a week , the watch toppled over and exploded like a circus clowns car. Back fell off, front fell off, hands strap came off.

Asked for his money back.

Then there's the true storey at the Lane Social one afternoon when Big Alec - sure some of you will know him, not Scotch Alec, thief extraordinaire - had a load of fake watches in a briefcase. Jostien Flo was looking at them with great interest. After trying several on, he picked out the worst one of the lot, a huge tacky "Rolex" that weighed as much as a black jack and had broken glass pretending to be diamonds around the face. "How much" he asked Alec. "Fifteen quid" came the reply.

Jostien looked at the watch again and said "it is real isn't it?"

Alec took the watch, told him to fuck off and threw it back in the briefcase.

Finally, my younger cousin, many many years ago when he was about 16 broke into a jewellers window. He stole the watches and put them up his sleeves. He made his way to Pond Street where found he had five minutes before the last bus and finding his criminal exploits had made him peckish, started breaking into a chocolate machine on the side of the old thruppnybit Cabin, when two police officers - who new him - came walking past......

£10 fine. My Dad said when he heard it was a tenner he thought he must have killed a judge.

A few years ago Bert inadvertently overdosed on Havana Club in Cuba and went into the sea sporting a 1960s Seamaster 600. Due to its age sea worthy it was not. It completely packed in.
He took it to the local female watchmaker he knows. Full strip down and clean. Worked perfectly ever since. Cost $2.

More photos of the home shirts here;

And the away shirts here;

The home shirt stands out a mile but the away shirt is pretty good, although I did notice when taking these pics that the United badge on the genuine away shirt isn't straight, which is really annoying. Wonder if the superstore would take it back and let me swap it.......

These days, fake watches are often pretty good watches in their own right, even if they aren't what they claim to be I have a "breitling" which is very close in weight / appearance to its kosher relative. I know it isnt one because a) i paid £30 for it and b) its immediately obvious when you take the back off.

As for our shirts. I have a kosher one from the club shop, imho the material is of poor quality. After about 3 washes at 30 deg you can already see a few pulls.
I've got this, bought it off someone at work for £70. I've no idea how it compares to a genuine one but it looks and feels pretty damn good to me.

Well it looks the part, obviously I cant comment on the weight. It would be nice to get my hands on something else tonight but that wont be happening lol.

Looks good though, as I say the copies are often much better than they used to be, good watches in their own right.
