Some of that era Omega watches are very nice, and as you say, often reasonably priced.

I think I paid around £160 for this. It needed a little attention (about £50 I think) and the second hand is obviously not the original.

Id say I know a lot about shirts, and I can spot even the very best counterfeits, I've worked in that industry for 10 years, My old man bought one of the fakes this season and tbh its identical. and very likely made in the same factory with the same materials as the authentic adidas shirts. I'm not condoning it, it makes my life 10 times harder

I have a 1976 Seamaster. Never wear it, sits in a box for me to look at now and again. It has a reputation of being one of the uglier watches Omega produced, but I like it.

I thought Dubuis was de rigueur amongst the elite nowadays? Now they are ugly IMO

I’m going to start a thread in Entertainment so as not to keep hijacking the shirt thread.

Pie Pan Constellations now £1,500+ for anything half decent.
Ten or twelve years ago when Bert was buying them they were £300 max.

If paying £20 for a "fake"shirt that is made in the same Bangladesh factory as the "genuine" £55 is a concern, then can i suggest after making your saving, send a donation to https://cleanclothes.org . Fashion can be a horrific industry for some.

I have never bought a fake replica shirt and never will but I'd hardly make as sweeping a statement as The Star have made by saying counterfiet shirts are killing the club.

How many people walking around in these fake shirts would you honestly say would have otherwise bought a real one? I'd wager not that many. Fake shirts will have taken some income away from the club (which is why I dont condone it in any way) but not everyone who buys these things would have directly bought a shirt so it isnt as simple as saying "x amount of shirts are fake therefore the club has lost x times 55 pounds".

Just to be clear though, ANY income taken away from my club is still income taken away from my club so they can still fuck off.
Wait till you hear about people buying under 5's tickets for cup games...

Think you need an eyetest to be honest if you can't spot the fakes this season, unless there are some new high quality ones now.

The ones I've seen are bright tomato red, have a weird waffle texture all over them, and the wrong badge (which is also not centred on the stripe).

Fascinating. Do you actually stare at peoples shirts, at the match or in the street/pub?

It's pretty obvious, especially the colour and the badge being off centre, just trips something as wrong in your mind. In the time a person walking past you on the steps is in your field of vision you can spot it.

Not my fault I'm observant is it.

No, if you can pick it up at a glance.
Can't help thinking you're in for a "What the fuck you looking at?" moment if it's anything more lengthy 😊

I can use my eyes independently like an Apache pilot, they never know what I'm looking at 😅

In the early 1970's I got a job in a jewellers that sold Omega, there rep let me have one for cost price less 25% making it £25 for a gold plated automatic bracelet watch, in those days it was a weeks wages for me. wore it almost every day until recently when I sold it to a dealer for £60 as the bracelet was a bit battered

Actually, once I've been on the all inclusive wine my eyes work independently whether I want them to or not......

I thought Crab Industries had already cornered the market on "replica" shirts?

Without even looking at it or asking what it was, I would have given you more for it if it was working and keeping reasonable time.

I've seen omegas that are fit only for spare parts go for North of 90 quid at auctions

ive only seen one and its identical. even down to adidas wash labels. of course, there will be varying versions made in different places

Article in the Star saying the club are being inundated with counterfeit copies of the shirts and are going to clamp down on it.

They could start on this forum by identifying the kid who proudly told us all he'd lent someone his original Blades shirt whilst on holiday, for an hour, so they could copy it?

That "bright spark" has cost the club thousands, if not millions, in lost revenue. I do hope he won't mind when the club cancel his season ticket and give him a lifetime ban?

That reminds me, I need to chase up delivery. It's been about 8 weeks now.
