I’m entirely confused by what the recruitment strategy was other than buy shit loads of players in positions we need them.

Fair play for recognising the squad was thread bare and we needed bodies.

But I find highly unlikely these are our first choice targets (Taganga aside)

As another poster said a few weeks back (possibly an ITK) the board shit themselves and Decided to chuck enough mud and hope something sticks

If it's true Selles has the Ipswich game to get it right then he's gonna have to get it right gelling in new players pretty quickly!

Taken in isolation it's a decent window on paper but it does feel like some of these deals could've potentially been done weeks ago to help the manager. As it is he'll take the rap for their lack of suitable planning.

Not saying it's easy to sign players early doors but we look to have knee-jerked into action

I do think the lads from Luton and Mee on a free could have been done a lot earlier.

If it's wingers then we'd be even more wide open down the sides than we are now.
If its wing backs then that sounds like original Wilderball but without the genius of Basham and O'Connell, but maybe we've got them with the new lads.

It's still been a complete mess but I will give them credit for seemingly realising their initial plan wasn't going to work and so changing tact. To bring in 7 players in less than 2 weeks is some going too.

We’re sat bottom of the league and have failed to register a shot on target in the last two games. Only scoring 2 goals so far- one of which a moment of brilliance. Too premature to praise the ownership yet. That being said it’s Selles job to get this squad playing well.

We have 3 CF's all of whom have little aerial ability as they prefer to play off a bigger striker.
Maybe we play with a false No. 9 a la Barcelona.
Can't see a problem with that as we've done so well without one so far.
PS - how is Moore doing these days playing for that well known dinosaur Parkinson?

We don’t want our forward to be winning the ball in the air that’s not what we’re set up to do. We want to be either turning over possession on the floor or moving and turning their defenders.
We got a good deal for Moore given that he’s not going to fit and was generally poor anyway last season even when we played a style more suited to his strengths. I’m glad he’s going well for Wrexham but still think we got the better part of that deal.

Surely parachute payments go to general expenditure. We appear to have committed more than we will receive from those sales you mention.

And certainly the ongoing costs for next 2-3 years of these contracts. They’ve signed up to seriously subsidise the club if we don’t go up, or we’ll be selling player every season to cover the £20m or so we’ll need.

Missed opportunity for Seriki, Brooks, Peck, Bindon who had the positions there for the taking. Suspect they will find themselves out of contention now

Some decent players won’t even make the bench.

Feels like the owners saw their investments sliding into league 1 and have given it a good go to avoid that result.

Amount of CBs we’ve signed, you’d think we’d look at three at the back?

Very good window. Not only have we still got Hamer and Cooper but we have added alot. Kudos to COH for backing the manager. We now have some time to train together over the international break, time to gel and for the manager to get them playing as a team. On paper we have the strongest team in the division. No excuses for Selles now. Lets fucking go !

I don’t think you understand how the business of football works and possibly wider business dealings.
And before you tell me, I do understand it.

You understand how it works at a mismanaged club like United.
Obviously less understanding of those clubs that somehow manage to get their business done earlier and don't chuck the first month of the season.

Good to see players come maybe too many but they wanted to gut the squad..Left to the last day and bringing in so many smacks of desperation.I hope it not to much quantity not enough quality.Should be enough to finish higher than the pigs but not enough for playoffs

I will call it now. As I have since Millwall. Selles hasn’t a clue. He still has no adequate midfield in terms of protection or forward support. His idea of wingers and the way they should play is woeful. With the defensive players now at his.disposal we might not be relegated so soon. But we sure as hell aren’t troubling the top 6 under his management. Unless he changes the way he sets up and plays fundamentally we have a wasted season. I’m already on the cusp of ditching it if he’s still here in the next couple of games. They’ll not miss me but the feeling is mutual.

And although the manager was a mistake, it looks as though they've realised they needed to invest.
