I do it all the time. Daughter had it at her wedding, did it. A bit embarrassing at funerals, but it has to be done. It helps if there's more than one singing. At family dos when six of us sing it, it's quite impressive. Still get weird looks though from the uninformed.
Funniest time was recently in Barbados, funny little guitar player in the restaurant was playing it as we walked in. Obviously we had to sing the proper words, much to the consternation of the upmarket cricket fans in the place Love it!

There was some poll done a good few years ago amongst supporters of loads of clubs as to the best football anthem ( no voting for your own) and the scousers assumed it was a foregone conclusion that there's would top the poll. It didn't and gcb did!

I remember arguing about this with some scouser once. He swore blind that Gerry and the Pacemakers had recorded a song written by Liverpool fans. I pointed out that it was actually from the Rogers and Hammerstein musical Carousel, but he said I was making that up. This was in the days before smart phones so the argument went unresolved.

As a kid growing up Annie's song was something I loved , the song brings me to tears whenever I hear it, fast forward to us creating the gcb and it's a nice touch, great double meanings now, it's an emotive song the original, and ours is just plain funny..

When they've burned me, my surviving relatives will walk out the place to that song... How do you fly a plane into a fucking mountain though..ffs..

It is quite amazing how if you hear it mid conversation, you just stop talking and start singing no matter how serious the coversation is.

I think the reason it resonates with us older blades so much is exactly because so many of us have had it played at the funerals of someone close.

It brings a lump to my throat when it is belted out, yes because it is the blades anthem but also because I remember.
