i was watching sky sports news & kaveh was trying to explain & him giving evertons explanations for why they shouldnt be punished. it did make me think that despite they never having being more money in the game. clubs are no better off & this an accumulation of the consequences of their actions. i think im right premier league has brought nearly 14 billion in the last 3 tv deals.

with that kind of money. i find it hard to weather their excuse of covid & russias invasion of ukraine being a factor in this. PL teams didnt go through money like water through a sieve losing 1.3m a week. they wouldnt be saying well if we hadnt lost out on 200m on naming rights from a russian business & we would be fine. or but for a pandemic you wouldve been fine.

it will never happen but like i say with the EFL. they need to make teams break even. 14 billion in the last 3 tv deals. everton are talking about that & high cost of borrowing. the mind boggles
PFA would kick off over a wage cap which is where the money is "lost" plus now with Saudi there is a risk of the top level stars wages growing even more

Before today it was “they’ll never give Everton a points deduction”. After the deduction it’s “they’ve only done it because they know Everton will stay up anyway”.

Some people are never happy!
💯 mate

Some just love playing the victim

People try to make out the EPL favour the big teams, well they’re shit at it cos in recent years they’ve let Newcastle, Leeds, Leicester drop, whilst Bournemouth & Brentford prosper

The most successful teams are underpinned by massive wealth

Man U take out loans against their own club
Arsenal & Spurs increase revenue by multi million pound investment in ground
Man C & Chelsea do it with brown envelopes
Everton are just fucking thick and don’t try to hide it, just declare in accounts and blame covid😂
That’s why they’ve been done, so easy to prove

Yeah but…
Who have done the calculations

Where’s your natural Bladey pessimism gone?

they would, but im not sure how much public support they would garner for pleading poverty & players are only just scraping by on 200 grand a week

the money is out of control & but like most sport it needs a tradegy for action. we are talking 14 billion in uk rights, nearer 25 billion in global rights & yet the risk of clubs going out of business is more of a reality now than it ever was for 1st 10-15 years of premier league when the tv deals were 10 - 25% of what they are now. & leeds were anomaly then but its the norm now because more clubs are having to take big financial risks to be competitive & nearly paid the ultimate price, Derby, Portsmouth, Bolton, Wigan. West Brom look shaky. villa & blades escaped that potential fate through staying up & getting ppromoted. otherwise we fail & its very grim

They're within reach now, but they've been in good form lately and Dyche and his player will probably use this as fuel like Tuchel and Chelsea did when Abramovich was forced out. Everyone thought they were going to collapse and they ended up winning almost every game the rest of that season.

When the football league pyramid was created 100+ years ago, they obviously couldn’t have foreseen the huge business it would become and vast sums of money involved.

If English football was to be run as a profitable business, there is no way the current system would be used. Clubs constantly spending more than they can afford to try and compete with the constant threat of financial armageddon due to failure on the pitch. Even success on the pitch doesn’t lead to profits, in most cases it’s just more costs and more losses!

How long will this current system be sustainable? Who knows, but it can’t go on forever, the number of individuals out there with the funds to prop up football clubs is getting smaller and smaller due to the sums of money involved.

I can see it reaching a point where a big change will eventually come to revolutionise the structure of the game.

For the severity of debt I think there needs to be expulsion. If you fiddle and lose more than the yearly income from being in the prem, you should suffer by not having a years worth of prem money.

10pts is nothing to anyone but those in the bottom 4.

Might as well blow 300m on signings in January and catapult up the league. We'll suffer the consequences in 3 years time when we've recouped that 300m in TV money.
10 points is a lot to every team , city won the league by 5 last season, and by a point season before, and they also won another title by a point as few years ago

I don't think it will hurt Everton in the long term and will likely be reduced on appeal anyway.
Right now though it's moved us up a precious place, and coming off the back of a win and a draw it could give us a psychological boost to push on.

It’s just another fucking nothing pointless punishment though isn’t it? They’ll be safe within a couple of games and the FA can say they’ve been punished without losing a big name.

And those who do get relegated get the prestige of saying they’ve finished below a team who were deducted points.

If they want to punish rule breaking deduct them 100pts, then see who else takes the piss.
Funny isn’t it : Everton fans think there is a conspiracy against them and the Prem try and get them relegated every year with bad reffing! They are mad. Clearly Prem would rather have Everton than us, Burnley, Lutron etc

Wonder if there is any chance of 777 pulling out, if they think there is going to be tighter scrutiny on them?

Big name? Maybe in the 80s, but not now. For decades Everton have been one of the many teams that is just in the league to make up the numbers.

The Premier League are only interested in Man City, Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs. Newcastle will be added to that list soon if they continue as they currently are.

And Sheffield Wednesday. Don't forget that all the supporters of the above clubs would love to see Wednesday back in the top flight.

From a Manchester City fan.

What a waste of time. 10 points is nothing. They’ll be safe in 2 games. The fact that 10 points would have relegated them last year should be taken into account. They should be staring down relegation now, minimum 20 points. Oh well.
if only our fans had some faith in us like you give other clubs quite generously

theyve had a run of 3 wins in oooh their safe
we are unbeaten in 2 and 2 winnable games coming oooh uniteds down for certain

dont get it , well not supposed blades

Everton have not been punished. Punishment is relegation to the Championship, in this instance dishing out a slap on the wrist is all that has happened.
In the Premiership it actually pays for clubs to bend rules or blatantly cheat. The punishments are so ineffective that they are a complete waste of time.
The end result of cheating in the Premiership is a continuation of playing in the Premiership and a continuation of the financial benefits.
