I'm not that happy with LoughboroBlade either - nearly caused a complete name change, which given I haven't been in Loughborough for many years now might have made sense...

I should just move to Loughborough Junction to ease the name/location issue....

Come to think of it, my new name is probably more accurate. C'est la vie.
 
Long time BU reader, very infrequent poster. Glad we are all finding a new harbour!
 
Ey up folks... just to let you know that I checked in late last night ....took me all evening to find what looks like a decent alternative to BU ..... (gawd, one or two of the other sites really are below gutter level ). Great to see so many old faces on here and I'm looking forward to getting to know some of the new ones too .

I'd like to add my thanks to Linz (?) for the access to the transcripts from the Q&A session ... very interesting reading.
 
Wow, no more BU, work will never be he same!

Seems this place is much better than the drivel on the 'other site' and it's good we have a new home for a new season!

On BU I was, well, the same name...

...I tend to get cross when people insult Americans and write whimsical, divisive match reports when I am home...so...there you go!
 
I think I was one of very few who liked the BU format. It took just a scroll to find out if anything important had happened. I sometimes used it on computers with just modem connections, and the speed of it made it one of the sites that you'd bother reading.

I didn't bother with the off topic posts, and wish webbo would have added an off topic board. I also think allowing posters to hide their aliases caused a lot of trouble.

.... and I can't get Knackereed Knee Blade as my alias and so now I'm just Knackered!

Just registered in here. It was a shock when BU closed without warning. This forum looks interesting but I have a problem is that I prefer to read and contribute postings when I am at work (I have more time at work than at home! It is quite difficult taking my lap top off any one of my 3 children) and when I tried to go into this site on Friday I was denied access to it (my work bans sites such as you tube and facebook). Why is this site in my work's "blacklist"?

Do you have any idea what they use to filter? Is there any information on the blocked page you get when trying to access?

I'm sure we can probably find a way around it for ya :)

I was in the ticket office yesterday morning with my 11 year old son to buy tickets for Port Vale. Was the person you saw on Friday tall and lanky- about 6 foot 4 inches tall (i am 5 foot 9 and half inches)?

It's probably banned because amongst other things, forums are generally considered by IT Departments as being mammoth timewasters. Which is a bit annoying if like me you often need them to solve a technical hurdle related to work.

Depending on how busy the IT department is they'll generally keep a log of the most visited sites on their network, and if the sites on it aren't work related, they'll probably add it to their blacklist.

If you're in sheffield then it's quite likely that your work will have added this site, along with other SUFC related sites to their blacklist. Can you still access Bladesmad? Alternatively they may automatically ban any sites that use vbulletin as their forum software.

Hi Silent, if I didn't see you here in the next couple of days I was going to email you but you obviously made it under your own steam!

They might have a filter such as "Blades" being a site containing weapons, maybe?

Try going onto porktalk and if you can get in that one then there's probably a pig in your IT team!

cheers for the advice. Bladesmad is ok at my work but I prefer to stay on just one Blades fan forum and no disrespect to Bladesmad, I have chosen this forum that I like to stick with like I did with BU. It takes too much time for me to contribute in more than one forum. Owlstalk is ok too as my one in my workteam is a regular contributor (or is a lurker)

Hmmm. If you can still get on bladesmad, then they aren't filtering for 'blades.' I wasn't suggesting you actually use the site (now that i've found this one, i won't be).


It may be they have issues with the forum software, (Owlstalk uses different software) though given that vBulletin is one of the most popular forum tools, then i doubt it.
 



As Facebook and youtube websites are banned at work, the website address for this forum is linked to facebook so that is why I was denied access at work
