What people need to differentiate is that many are criticising the performance they have just witnessed most of the time and not actually what has gone before it. Some of what people criticise fans for saying is not a million miles away from what Wilder says himself.

Wilder won't directly say we were shit today but when he does an interview he isn't shy in saying it was a bad performance. Also, Wilder won't name names but admits when some players are not quite at it.

But I think people need to also differentiate between legitimately criticising aspects of how we’ve played rather than predictably overreacting. Wilder himself while acknowledging things haven’t gone as planned has also been pretty vocal since the restart in criticising how some fans have reacted: “I’ll let supporters discuss if we are a disgrace, diabolical and have let everybody down. Or if we are allowed a performance once every three years that isn't up to par. I'll let them discuss that and I'll get on with what we do.”

This is basically the latest version of the “noise and nonsense” critique from last year. Healthy debate is fine. Flying off the handle when we have our first blip of the season isn’t. Nor is blindly following everything the club puts out for that matter. Like a well-oiled United formation, balance is always important.

Whilst perusing social media yesterday after the match, and indeed after the last few matches I've made a general observation.

I've been a United supporter for over 35 years, and a season ticket holder for the last 20 seasons.

I've also watched United in the very depths of the wilderness years, and rightly seen certain United sides take absolute pelters for a lack of effort, not giving a shit, and recall the lap of shame at the end of the Adkins season. However it does appear those same supporters who was critical in those times, generally aren't those same supporters who are the ones who are giving the team absolute pelters now.

I'm disappointed with how things have gone since the restart, but also accept these are strange times, and I think the lack of people in the ground is having a huge, negative effect on the players who we have become accustomed to getting that 5% from thanks to the crowd backing.

We've got a young striker with a big price tag who hasn't hidden from anything during a difficult transition to top flight football, not been frightened to stick his head in where it hurts and has grafted his bollocks off for the cause, and who will with the right backing become a very handy player at this level. The fans response, call him McShitty.

Stevens has a bad game, the response, call him shit. Basham and Fleck have a poor game, one coming back from injury, the response, get shit flung their way. Wilder doesn't use the full 5 subs, his managerial ability is called in to question.

This squad of players don't owe us anything. 4 years ago we was in League One with no real prospect of an escape on the horizon. We now sit in the top half of the Premiership, thanks to the squad of players we have got caring, giving a shit and giving everything to the cause.

Before the start of the season, we was widely tipped to finish rock bottom this season, by many media pundits, as well as most football supporters of other teams. We now sit in the top half of the Premiership and to all intents and purposes safe from relegation.

So why are some so angry, and quick to have a go at the players and the managers.

Isn't the wonderful season we had until the suspension of football in the country good enough?

Don't the players Wilder has brought in deserve to be afforded time, and don't the players who have performed admirably in the past in getting us to where we are deserve a bit of grace as they hit a patch of bad form after struggling to adapt to the restart?

Is Wilder the problem? Does the fact that he has done so well over the last 4 years in getting us to where we are go out of the window, and he has become a bad manager overnight because he has presided over a poor run of form, and doesn't use all his substutions?

Or do we need to all sit back, take a look at the bigger picture and give the manager and players great credit for getting to where they are, and if we don't get in to Europe, accept it and understand we spent a long time chasing a prize we had no right to chase due to the huge disparity in money we spend compared to the others we are competing again.

Personally i think there is an element of our fan base who have allowed themselves to become entitled, and I think a lot of them used to be the same tantrum throwing, feet stampers who used to trot out lines like "I'm not going to Bramall Lane and giving United mi moneh while they are this wank", only to jump back on the bandwagon when things came good, and now we have hit a sticky spell have reverted to type. They players aren't 'bottlejobs' and whoever it was who coined the term "McShitty" had made himself look a prized twat.

We've had a superb season, the future is still very bright for United and under this manager and under this squad of players, great things are still to come and we only will stronger, now we have got a bit of Premier League experience and nous, it will improve us. Prehaps people who have been so quick to criticse should really begin to accept what we have done and appreciate the magnitude of what we have achieved.

Hiya Chris.
Or Oliver.

Wilder has a habit of avoiding the 'advice' of fans......

One of his greatest traits.

This thread is full of the “silent majority” spouting bollocks. This thread has been an excuse for people to whine about how they’ve been a Blade for over 40 years, how they’ve had it tougher than anyone else and the fact they spend every last penny of their wages in the club shop. No one gives a toss, we’ve performed shockingly in the last couple of games and people have rightly voiced their opinions. People can’t take criticism and therefore react with the classic “you obviously weren’t there back in League 1”. Well, we all were and we just have a bit of fucking passion and competitiveness and don’t wanna see our team lose without putting in some fucking effort.

On to another point, no one gives a fuck about likes, and if you do you’re really sad. I suspect the post with 3 likes voiced a genuine opinion and got absolutely ruined because CW is manager and how dare anyone criticise him because of what he’s done for the club. Total bollocks. Only had to read the first 5 lines of the OP to know that it was basically a bigger blade contest. Pathetic really.

The OP of that particular thread got ‘absolutely ruined’ because they resorted to childish and pathetic name calling.

I don't think that's the thread being referred to. One is the McShitty thread, the other is the thread criticising Wilder's (lack of) substitutions, which I don't think resorted to any name calling.

‘McShitty’ this season. I remember ‘Norgood’ last season. There are some right cards around here. Ignore them.
Correct !
He wasn't 'McShitty',when he scored that equalizer against Man Yoo was he !!
I reckon there was about 25,000 blades quite willing to give or receive anal sex with him !😛😛😮

Sorry, misread - in that case I’d agree that even Wilder is allowed to be criticised.

The Mcshitty poster has provoked many a reference and response.
I’ve no idea who the person is and I don’t care but he was clearly hacked off
when he posted.....but so what? he’s probably a blade through and through.
It’s a forum people have different realities and opposing views that’s what makes a forum tick.
Get angry, get defensive, get emotional, express your entitlement if you need too but for fucks sake let’s not all nod politely in complete agreement.

People just need to lighten up. When I read the word ‘McShitty’ I must’ve found it fairly amusing because someone asked me why I had a big fuck off smirk on my face. It’s childish but it did give me a giggle. OP probably wasn’t expecting that many mardy OAPs to get as riled up as they did. Harmless really.

Think I'll start a " Hands Of McShitty " campaign.

I just wonder why so many on here can't make a point with out using four letter words ?

Is it a "look at me I'm a big grown up man thing" or terzets ? ............

Anyone actually believe Wilders talk pre recommencement, about the hard work and fitness?
I didn't so I can't be all that gullible after all.
Half of them look like they've been drunk since March.

Is the 'hand of McShitty' an artistic appreciation that appears to have passed most of us by? Or was this meant to be 'hands off .....' ?

Almost most teams who achieve promotion to the Prem imagine their dream of scoring multiples of goals will continue. Sadly this is bound to fall flat, and why anyone thinks that their team won't have to readjust is in cloud cuckoo land. It really is all about money, and without casting aspersions on our coaching skills, the need to invest, and invest heavily, is essential. If you doubt this, look at Norwich's abysmal failure to spend.
