Somebody put on here the other day how Uraguay were like us, well after that were more like England. How many times have we fucked up in the last minute, just got that feeling again.

I saw that, one on the balcony above to the left too.

Harry was brilliant tonight, especially in just his 9th game for England.

Well done lads, not great but got the result. My guts have turned inside out and I think I may have shit myself when Henderson missed his penalty  but worth it in the end. Football the greatest game on earth.

They were good in the air, Maguire and Stones didn't get much of a look in- in their box. They were dirty, niggly, cheats but they shut down a lot of our strong points.

He'll be the most expensive defender in the world after this tournament. Barca will want him.

At 1-0, Wilder wouldn't have brought a defensive midfielder on after 80 mins when we were getting some joy on the counter. He'd have gone for the second.

I thought Southgate got it right. They weren’t troubling us until some youth had a pot shot from miles out that if Pickford hadn’t got a finger tip to would have been goal of the tournament. They scored from a set piece which I thought we would have defended as we had the whole game.
Up to the subs the gap between defence and the forwards was huge. Midfield were tired and simply not able to support in either direction so Columbia had control in there for the first time in the match.
GS has to do something to regain some control.
Taking a midfielder off and bringing a forward on wasn’t the option. And you don’t change your back line unless someone’s having a mare, or is injured. And changing system at that point of the game would have been risky.

We needed changes, but we needed fresher legs further up the pitch.

Dier for Alli left a huge hole between the strikers and the Defensive midfield and we of course sat back with Henderson and Dier sitting in front of Stones.

Vardy for Sterling didn't work at all. Perhaps Rashford would've been better.

Wrighty just gave him and Blades fans a good mention. Talked about us roaring him forward when he used to come out with the ball in League One.

Pundits round up: “Harry Maguire was sensational defensively and with the ball,” said former England manager Glenn Hoddle.
Gary Neville added: “He deserved a special mention. Sometimes you think about a performance where someone goes from being ‘Are you sure about him? Is he going to be good enough?’ to being a centre-back with a performance like that.
“It was absolutely brilliant, the courage and stepping in to midfield was absolutely fantastic.”
Ian Wright said: “I remember watching him when he played for Sheffield United and he would get the ball and go through the whole team.“Sheffield United fans were cheering and they would big him up, the way he passed the ball and ran with the ball.
“He does it at this level, tried the runs out the back, runs through midfield and take chances with his passes. We need that.”
Alan Shearer selected Maguire as his star man on the BBC’s highlights show: “I was impressed with Maguire tonight,” Shearer said. “(Colombia) didn’t offer a lot going forward, but he did very well in bringing the ball out and sliding those passes through.”

Loftus-Cheek should have been on for Dele Alli, if not from the start, after 40 minutes (when Dele started holding his leg again) his performances in the previous games were great, and once he'd seen the antics fouling wise it was obvious we needed strength and the ability to run past people. Dele hardly got past anyone yesterday and we really missed LC bombing down the wing, only Harry really did that.

My only criticism of Southgate so far.

Yeah that would've worked better, perhaps he'll get a run out on Sunday as Alli was battered yesterday.

Thought that whilst Sterling and Alli didn't have brilliant games with the ball (see Lingard to for that matter), the shape we had with them on was much better and allowed better movement up front.

Loving the pictures of young Kyle and Harry in their Blades shirts, in the sun today.
Funny thing is, I'm looking at the England team, reading how they've all been at lower league clubs etc, but I'm not seeing any Wendy shirts, surely this is an error, surely the massivest team in the world must have players in the team!??
No mention of Vardy, who they decided, wasn't good enough to grace the sty eather.........strange.
