Enda Stevens

I've been really critical of Stevens since last Xmas but I thought he played well yesterday and put the ball in good areas

First time I've realised that our strikers don't make great runs in the box and that midfielders are slow to get in there and no one seemed to be back post

Really good in the last three games. It seems that he's the new whipping boy.

2nd week running we can say it a little louder now. Enda is a good defender solid game again. His form has returned so lets enjoy the fact we are starting to roll!

Thought he was great today, defensively never put a foot wrong especially being up against Ameobi who can be a real handfull. Going forward very impressive aswell, lovely ball across for the 3rd. Keep it up Enda

Excellent today and an assist.

One a few contenders for MoM

Excellent last four games from him.. Keep it up lad.

Don't you all get it ? Stevens would still be playing like a plonker if it wasn't for the more ' sensible ' Blades on here slagging him off .

Hammer the player = performance improvement .

Simple :)

It was almost like someone had pissed on his cornflakes at breakfast, he really was in no mood to let Ameobi do anything, good, aggressive performance.

With Norwood and Fleck here he’s not subject to such and aggressive press from the opposition.

Having been a staunch defender of Stevens during most of last season when he was getting pelters, can I just say how I'm delighted that he's proved the doubters wrong.

His end product has improved dramatically. On a few occasions he's gone past his man and put a decent ball in. He put a few quality balls in yesterday and should have added to his assist tally.

Well done Enda. Stay confident as it's clear you have the ability. :-)

Having been chief in the opposite camp, and genuinely being baffled how he played so many games last year I am delighted to have been proved wrong. It's also further proof that I have no idea what I'm talking about most of the time.

Freeman is going through the same thing now, but I genuinely think it's physical with him. Stevens just looked lost at times last year.

Maybe playing through the poor performances last year have him the experience to go on this year. He's up there with Barry Douglas now.

Has another excellent game last night. His assist-that-wasn't when Lunny hit the bar was a sensational bit of play. Just looks really confident in his own ability right now and long may it continue.

I thought he was just a mediocre player by the end of last season, with him being someone we needed to seriously consider moving on.

It seems like he's got his shit together. Playing well.

He was average this season until Johnson took his place for 1 or 2 games, then he's been my MOTM in so many games since.

I don't claim to be an expert, but I think his improvement is down to the quality of passes he's receiving, particularly when going forward. He started last season well, when we had Coutts playing, then his form dipped when we had Evans and now he's playing much better now that Ollie is supplying him. To me, that's down to the fact that he's not having to take two touches or check back and stop to get the ball under control. I'm guessing this has also given him more confidence in his defensive duties too and perhaps having a strong centre back in Egan is helping too.

Said the same not long after Norwood joined. He needs the ball to run onto to use the momentum as he's not a man to get past players from a standing start.

I also quite enjoyed the response he gave to the Brentford fan when he launched the ball at him last night :D

For me the MOTM today and for him not to be available as a choice for the poll by the club I found disappointing, what a season the lad is having, when Pompey fans told us he was the best lb/lwb outside the top division I found it hard to believe, last season did little to change my mind, however this season I would 100% agree, some of the tackles to prevent QPR breaking today we’re superb, keep it up Enda!

There were two moments in the second half where he was superb, one where they threatened to break and he read what the lad was going to do and put in a great challenge and then when he made a superb interception and made a surging run. Almost scored today too. Love to see him score a couple this season.

He's been one of our players of the season.

He faded last season, he hasn't this time. I think a lot of that will be to do with fitness and conditioning himself to this level.

His athleticism and fitness is hugely impressive. I don't think he's had a single injury since being with us.

We're fucked if anything does happen to him though so we need to plan for that. Johnson isn't enough.

I was a doubter towards the end of last season.

In his first few games I thought yes, we’ve picked up a right player here... then as the season went on I thought he was solid enough defensively but didn’t offer enough going forward. I thought he often took the easy way out and slowed us down too much by going sideways and backwards rather than taking the responsibility to beat a man or whip one in.

This season I think he’s been our most consistent player. Absolutely quality pretty much every minute he’s been on the pitch. He seems to have got quicker, stronger and more confident and really does look a top
Championship LWB now.

He made a few really decent interceptions / tackles today, especially in the second half and his immediate thought straight after was to drive forward and get us back on the front foot.

He’s grown into the player I hoped he would after his first few appearances and my doubts from the end of season have well and truely proved wrong.

Quality player.

Wilder needs some credit as well as it’s anotber freebie that’s probably worth a metric fuck ton in today’s market.

I said exactly the same when going out of the ground today, for me he was brilliant and only thing he missed was getting that goal which he nearly did. He stopped 2 quick breaks of QPR's which could have lead to some thing and he looked good going forward. The Lad seems to get better and better with every game. Seems another master move from wilder signing him.
