Its almost the end of the season, some players will be leaving to join better teams, some will be leaving to join lower teams, some will be leaving to stack shelves at Tesco.

If we stay in the championship will it mean that some players will have there careers at the lane extended ?
are some players scared of promotion & the uncertainty it would bring to there footballing future?
is staying in the championship a safer option for some players & are they looking more to 2 weeks in the sun rather than the next few games?

I'm not so sure that they're scared of promotion but you're right that certain players will not be at bdtbl next season.
It's too early to say who those players will be but I would send Wilson back as he's been disappointing whilst on loan. I M O.
I think Donaldson will be surplus to requirements!.

This logic confuses me. If we got promoted everyone would get a pay rise. If they're sold then their status would be higher and they could command a higher wage than they get from us at the moment.

I will confidently predict, and with a heavy heavy heart, that John Fleck will go in the summer for a fee of around £4m.

Sharp will have the captaincy stripped, have serious talks with other clubs, but ultimately accept a semi permanent position on the bench at UTD.

Kieron Freeman will go.

Danny Lafferty will go.

Jake Wright will go.

Hanson and Lavery will be moved on.

Donaldson, I believe is on a 1 year rolling. He won’t be rolling with us next season !

Ched will get a pre season and will either prove almost everyone wrong by firing again from the get go, or go out on loan to a L1 club.

Leon will continue to blow hot and cold !

Wilson will go back to Man U to compete for a shirt with Lukaku, Rashford and Lewandowski !!!

Coutts will come back in to the fold and will initially struggle to find his top form.

New signing Lee Gregory will start off quite well but fade badly.

Lundstram will finally learn to cut out the “daft pass that was never ever on” and will become a really accomplished Championship CM.

Lee Evans will be asked to fill the Fleck void and do OK with it.

Ricky Holmes, Ryan Leonard and Sami Curruthers will all end up in a cab together heading “darn sarf” to secure moves or loans.

There will be about 6 new players come in to the club, mostly from Championship and L1 clubs for a combined spend of less than what is raised in player sales.

And because they've all recently signed new contracts on good money no club in the championship or lower can afford them (you want to take Leon or Billy off us, only £15k per week? No fucking chance). So they'll stick where they are anyway, take the money and sit it out for a couple of years..

For most of our players playing in the premiership is not an option, the best they can hope for is staying in the championship or playing for chesterfield.

If they are still under contract and their current contract states a pay rise for promotion to the Premiere League (which it will do) then they will get a pay rise as it, erm....says so in their contract.... Whether they are good enough or not is irrelevant.

It's unlikely they'd get a pay rise, more likely a bonus which is a one-off and a completely different thing. The problem will still remain however, i.e. we'd be stuck with a gaggle of old timers on good money who we'd be unable to offload.

They will no doubt get a one off promotion bonus as you have said to share between the team but I have also no doubt it will be written into their contracts what wage they are on for each division if their agents are worth their salt. I am surprised you think it would be otherwise?

I do agree many may well not be good enough for the prem. They will either be paid off or sold with an agreement about their contract if they would have earned significantly more just by staying put. Hammond was a case in point. Many blame Hammond but it was the club that agreed the contract.

As a shareholder and having some very private information about finances at BDTBL there is nobody on more than £ 8,000 a week except Blackman and Wilson, and the extra those 2 get is paid by their respective clubs and not us.

I think we could well see the end of Jake Wright although it would be good if he was offered a player/coach role, Billy could well go as I don’t see him being first choice next season, Lavery/Hanson/Hussy/ I expect to be released and if we can get a fee for Lafferty/Carruthers/Reedy/Ched I can see them all going Thomas I reckon could well go out on loan again with a couple of the younger lads possibly Semple and Ty Smith

I don't see why people are so keen to get rid of Wright and Donaldson. Both do a job when needed and are useful squad players to have, unlike a few of the others that never get used and don't do a lot when they are. Ideally they'd be needed less if we bring in the right quality to boost the starting line-up, but they shouldn't be top priorities to release unless they are on ridiculous contracts.
