2 immobile midfielders was the start of the problems. Doyle works hard but the poor bloke runs for 2 or 3 every week and looked knackered.
Baxter doesn't do any running at all defensively. They set up with 3 in midfield and we couldn't get anywhere near them. They won every second ball from both attack and defence.
We looked to have found a winning formula at Bristol (They played 3 at the back but the concept would still work) with Murphy and Done out wide and Baxter/Holt a little deeper than an orthodox strikers role. It gave their defence problems as they had no-one to mark and Murphy, Done, Holt, Basham and Doyle running at them with Coutts sitting and pulling the strings.
We out footballed and out thought Bristol that day, the tactics were spot on. We haven't set up that way before or ever since. Why, I have no idea.
