Embarrassment

Ill health prevented my attendance and I felt confident of a positive result to day, so shall be interested to find out WTF went wrong.

Come on, Hillmorton. You've been to other home games this season. You'll get the picture. No confidence, very little skill, terribly-negative tactics for a home team, headless chicken defending, Umpteen corners with little or no end result. Outskilled by a so-called 'little' team. Barely a shot on target.

In other words - cup games excepted - pretty much what we've seen all season.

When I saw the team selection I thought it would be

Turner
Brayford Basham McEveley Harris
Coutts Doyle
Done - - - - Baxter - - - - Murphy
Davies
Did we try that at any point?
No, though Coutts came into the middle in the 2nd half and was a bit better there. Adams came on and swapped with Murph. Davies swapped with McNulty.

The problem, for me, remains about lack of drive forwards. It doesn't matter about formation. We are just too negative / patient. Our first half V second half form demonstrates it clearly.

Did we line up like this?

Turner
Brayford Basham McEveley Harris
Coutts Baxter Doyle Murphy
Done Davis
You would think that would be decent side at this level but their not.
Low on motivation playing with their heads down.
Tactically inept that's down to Clough

Harris was shite for the first 45 minutes and not much better for the second 45. #pissedoff

No, Done played higher than Davies for most of the game. Coutts came to the middle when Adams came in. Adams played on the right for about 5 mins before switching flanks with Murphy

Only two players remain in their same positions from the side that started the season vs Bristol City. Summers are important when it comes to making the team gel and settle, and by all accounts we had a very poor summer.

Eventually we've got a few of our targets in, but it's not ideal to throw them all in when we play such a tight schedule. We've been playing Saturday-Tuesday for a long time. With so many new players, so many injuries, so many niggles and also suspensions, preparation for matches won't have been great.

We can only hope that we find some sort of rhythm before the end of the season, and that we're still in a play off position when/if it happens.

Fleetwood, fucking FLEETWOOD.

At home!

Slow, pedestrian midfield and not one leader amongst them. Shower of shit.

Even when we were towing early last season this is as probably as low a point as a Blade as I've felt. So much resource spent on Derby and Blackpool rejects and we wonder why we're shit - it's because they're mostly average players that weren't wanted by average/wank chapionship teams.

Utterly, utterly embarassed tonight.

Oh to be an average championship side

2 immobile midfielders was the start of the problems. Doyle works hard but the poor bloke runs for 2 or 3 every week and looked knackered.

Baxter doesn't do any running at all defensively. They set up with 3 in midfield and we couldn't get anywhere near them. They won every second ball from both attack and defence.

We looked to have found a winning formula at Bristol (They played 3 at the back but the concept would still work) with Murphy and Done out wide and Baxter/Holt a little deeper than an orthodox strikers role. It gave their defence problems as they had no-one to mark and Murphy, Done, Holt, Basham and Doyle running at them with Coutts sitting and pulling the strings.

We out footballed and out thought Bristol that day, the tactics were spot on. We haven't set up that way before or ever since. Why, I have no idea.

Exactly my point... this bloke reminds me of Van Gaal... finally finds a winning formula then f*cks with it!!

Apparently that was the biggest crowd Fleetwood have ever played in front of.

Oh, and just to cheer you all up, this weekend last year we beat Charlton to get the FA Cup Semi Final :(

And, strangely, at that Charlton game I was sat behind Uriah Rennie who is a referee's assessor. He was there again today. Can't believe the change in 12 months...

Very poor today - nearly as poor as the players were many so called fans who decided that to abuse the players would lead to positive results. Disgrace.

Crawley Peterborough and fleetwood - 1point.

Now that is embarressing.

Of course it is but that's what makes football what it is.

Think it is twelve (3 prem and champ, 4 L1 and 2 L2) clubs will be relegated at the end of the season, shit happens, take it on the chin and come back next season if you fail with a dream in your heart.

Forget Gillingham, this is the lowest point of the season by a long way. That was one of the most lethargic, lazy allround pathetic performance I've ever seen. Not one player showed any enthusiasm. It's not as if Fleetwood were any good, we were just far, far too slow to trouble them. I am quite literally speechless at that, sorry to sound so grim but I just can't believe what I've seen today

Think Steve Davies stood out as the only man on the field capable of trapping a ball and passing it to one of his own men. I liked him a lot. A single positive in an awful day.

You ok fella . You didn't miss much.

Put this down to Clough . No mention of McCabe who is innocent and like us thought Clough was a good shout and godsend.

Grumpy are you on drugs . Forget next season . This season is alive and kicking , and we are pissing up the wall , the chance of a life time to get out of this shit league .
