email from club - NO MORE TICKETS ON SALE IN KOP - standing & wrong seat usage

I keep seeing Nottingham mentioned as "leaving Sheffield behind" as well, which must just be typical Sheffield pessimism, because Sheffield is well ahead of Nottingham on most things.
Nottingham city centre now reminds me of Sheffield city centre from 20-odd years ago (or more) with shops, people, and life generally - it's what a city centre should be.

Personally I quite enjoy visiting Nottingham city centre - aaaah the reassuring thud of axes slamming into the walls at Hatchet Harry's - I go once every couple of months. Record shops, cafes, cinemas, busy streets full of people.

There's plenty to enjoy about Sheffield, but the city centre is a wasteland.

Was in the city centre after work yesterday for my haircut. Wasn’t the apocalyptic wasteland that some describe and aside from the shitshow at the top of Fargate (both shipping containers and those awful colourful planters), it looked nice and there was a surprisingly good vibe on a wet January evening.

They’ll be a huge change once the work between Pinstone Street and the Devonshire Quarter is complete. Hopefully the blocks between Furnival Gate and Charles Street go, as planned and it’ll be a significant improvement.

Debenhams is now under offer too from a foreign retailer with a proposal for it to reopen as a department store.

You’d find it difficult to walk around the city centre and not see some redevelopment and investment in the city underway on the street you’re on.

Yeah, given the choice of Nottingham or Sheffield, I'd pick Nottingham City centre. Victoria Centre is decent enough and hasn't killed off their city centre but that may be because it's in the city centre. Old Market Square is nice too, especially at Christmas, much better than Sheffield's attempt.

The silence from the club on this matter is really disappointing. It’s been around 2 months now and nothing since the original statement
It might be that SUFC were facing serious consequences - look how the Newcastle / Hillsborough situation snowballed - yes I understand the reason why that has happened, but it shows how things can quickly escalate, once the authorities start taking a closer look at things - and how reactionary they can become if they feel they are being ignored. Could the whole of the Kop have been forced to close?
They tried to get ahead of the curve, asked for more time, suggested the 'POTG' ban and are now keeping a low profile in the hope SAG won't raise anymore issues this season, and SAG are happy that a 'solution' has been made public - both parties are being seen to have been proactive. I think this will be swept under the carpet until the end of the season - no comments from either side.
Will be interesting whether those tickets will be available as Season Tickets next year, available as POTG or permanently removed from sale.

I used to live in a pub on The Wicker as a kid in the 70's.

The Wicker was always the start of the City Centre, also the area around the Castle Market was always heaving with shoppers.
There was also the B & C co-op and Suggs across the road, very busy part of town.

Don't go in to town much but the last time I did, the area around the old Castle market did look like a wasteland with no shoppers.
There was loads of fences up as I think they were planning to build something, has it been finished yet?

They are still undertaking the archaeological work on the old Castle Market site (very slow!).

To be honest, I am not overly keen with the proposal there. Some kitsch attempt at recreating the castle and a park... not really going to attract people.

The main issues are was fans blocking gangways and several fans to a seat as opposed to fans standing.

If fans went to their allocated seat, or a spare seat, there wouldn't have been an issue.

I am fully expecting our capacity ( i.e. sellable tickets) to be reduced due to pressure from the SAG ( hopefully i am wrong)
We didn’t know it wouldn’t be an issue if fans went to allocated seat. That is news. 😁

Can I just point out sitting in a spare seat is forbidden ONLY ALLOCATED SEAT ON KOP cheers pal

They had a fans forum and got all the 'influencers' together. I'm sure Foxy was asked to post something on here after the meeting, I know the Senior Blades went and some of the social media people to try and get the clubs message across to fans.

The only reason to go to Nottingham centre was for Brown Betty's and that's gone now. Nights out in Nottingham used to be very good around the Hockley area, the city centre pubs were a dive, not sure if it's changed.

I hope you're right. It would be good to see.

Foxy would you be able to ask the club for an update please? Have the temporary measures had the desired result? What’s the next step? Thank you.

Yes mate they did but that was a while ago and there wasn’t anything at that forum around what was the end game.

If the fans have taken notice and acted on the clubs request and I have to say I no longer see the same issues on the kop then the fans also deserve to know what is happening moving forward

To my knowledge, there’s a watching brief for the next couple of games before then further recommendations/communication will come out.

When I say further recommendations, please don’t read into that sanctions or changes, but more a debrief on what they’ve found for the temporary tweak and how they’ll go forward.

Put simply, throughout, the intimation was if people behaved (again, the stopping of overpopulation/blocking of safety exits - not specifically standing), things would be fine, if they don’t they’d have to tackle until people did.

The club didn’t want it to go on any longer than it ‘had to’.

https://www.geonames.org/GB/largest-cities-in-united-kingdom.html 4th largest.
I don't want an airport, our skies are clear and noise free! Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool all have higher pollution, crime and poverty rates. It's clear you hate our City and club. Do us all a favour...👉
I like Sheffield but losing DSA isn't good. Having an int airport is a big economic driver. We are the only city of our size without an airport. Even places like Bournemouth and Newquay have them!
We are 4th largest but not when you take into account urban metro areas like greater Manchester etc. Big doesn't mean good either.

However make no bones I love Sheffield and it has alot of good points too!

It was the Sheffield airport that I meant to refer to (the one some dick said didnt work out because Blunket wanted that scourge on civilisation..."council houses". RAF Finningley (Doncaster airport) will remain where it is simply because it's built and western military need it as back up (USA B52's love it). The threatened closure is hopefully mostly posturing for pubic funding. Making the site a decent holiday airport went tits up with covid. Some on here would blame Sheffield council for that too! 🤡

I think peel want to turn into warehouses. Airport is fully shut at min..no flights at all.

Hopefully it can be rescued as it has potential. We just need to improve connections to it.

To be fair sheff council had the chance to open DSA when they opted for sheff city airport. Would have been a better option.

Thanks mate but why aren’t the club communicating this. Poor form in my opinion

To be fair to Sheff council. They spotted the blag of Finningley, just sadly bought the bullshit that we need an international airport.... The M1 runs though our city FFS!
Aside from the fact that Commerce/growth isnt important for anyone who isn't born into wealth and is probably contributing towards ruining our environment. What is the problem with our lovleh City being green and pleseant?
Sorry my Quotes got messed up... :P

The fact that these restrictions have been in place for over 2 months and nobody knows when it will end or why.

It’s obviously a waiting game to see fans behaviour. That’s not rocket science. The club will also be looking to see if people will reallocate to different stands.

The club aren’t the villains here.

I don’t know 4-5? Have a look yourself for FFS, what’s your point ?

Enough in my opinion for the club to be giving us an update

I’m not saying it’s the clubs fault, what I’m saying is why arent they communicating. If it’s a waiting game then in your opinion how long do you think that should last. 5 games, 15 games, couple of years ?

In your "opinion", for how many home games should it be tested before some prick starts ranting on a forum about it? Pillock!

You backtracking now? You told me it was two games and I told you you were wrong so whose the pillock you or me

Why are you insinuating I’m a prick ? I’m giving an opinion on why I think the club should be giving us an update,
