email from club - NO MORE TICKETS ON SALE IN KOP - standing & wrong seat usage

All advertisments are hidden for logged in members, why not log in/register?

You backtracking now? You told me it was two games and I told you you were wrong so whose the pillock you or me

Why are you insinuating I’m a prick ? I’m giving an opinion on why I think the club should be giving us an update,
"I don’t know 4-5? Have a look yourself for FFS, what’s your point ?"

How do you know it isn't two games, smart arse?
For the record, only you have insinuated you're a prick in this thread...

cant be arsed debating with idiots but if you are seriously questioning whether it’s more than 2 games since these restrictions were imposed then god help you

Thanks mate but why aren’t the club communicating this. Poor form in my opinion

On the surface I agree.
I would imagine that the closing of the Kop wasn't a punishment for a set number of games or a set time.
It was a pro-active voluntary action by SUFC demonstrating that they are taking this issue very seriously.

Probably the official line (if they released a statement) is "we will re-start selling tickets on the Kop when.....we feel the time is right"

This tells us very little, probably why there's been no statement.
Maybe the time is right when we have some evidence that the overcrowding issue has disappeared over a number of game and also when we expect 30K to 32K crowds.
At the moment most fans wanting to see our games can still (just about) buy a ticket on the BLUT.
Towards the end of the season demand should increase and I would imagine the Kop will be re-opened in full by then.

I have never grassed on anyone and never will do. I saw on punter go into a turnstile on John Street. then passed his season ticket to another punter. he got in. I was about ten feet away. a steward was near on and I swear he could see it as well. to my amazement he did nowt.I did not know who the lads are. but it makes you wonder how many more do it. Kop turnstile on John Street. could be another reason for the problems on the Kop.

That,s exactly what I thought. I suppose a letter from the Ticket Office to the season ticket holders' address.to enquire what happened. I don,t know, to be honest. but definitely saw it.

I know one tight bastard who begs and pleads every game for someone to allow him to squeeze through the turnstile with him. For whatever reason, he manages it. So that's another one without a ticket.

Or he'll go half's with his dad on the cost of ticket and they'll both squeeze in on one. Boils my piss as he has a rental property, earns about 3k a week and drives around in a range rover. But their lass is on about leaving him so, ya know...

I have never said I hated Sheffield, I said the place is a backward toilet, because it is. As a Sheffielder I am qualified to say that.
And I have left Sheffield a couple of times to work long term in different parts of the country, which is another reason why I can comment.

Sheffield was once a city that could be classed as a major city as far as the UK goes, it was right up there with Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool at one time, and now it isn't.

It isn't on a par with any of them anymore thanks to the most backward, moronic bunch of fucking idiots the planet has ever seen being allowed to run it into the ground.

You can think what you like about Sheffield, if you think it's amazing, fine.
It's a shame business decision makers don't think it's fine, it's a shame top quality retailers, restaurants, bars and other leisure companies don't think it's fine, one or two mid range retail or leisure outlets might give it a go for a couple of years, but it never succeeds.
It's a shame footballers given the choice of United or somewhere else, for the same money would choose somewhere else.
It's a shame the general public don't think it's a place they would like to visit. Are they all wrong?

5th largest city in the UK, should surely have the 5th largest tourist activity in terms of City breaks, errrr, no, sorry, it's not even in the top 100
5th largest city in the UK should surely have the 5th busiest train station excluding London stations, errrr, no, sorry, no fucker wants to come here so it's not even in the top 40.
5th largest city in the UK should have the 5th busiest airport, again excluding London airports, errr, no, sorry, no fucker wants to come here so it doesn't have an airport, we've tried twice with this venture if you include Doncaster/Sheffield airport and it's failed both times because nobody wants to come here.

the 5th largest city in the UK should have the 5th busiest road network, a good motorway network, errr, no, it doesn't. A traffic jam in Simpleton Sheffield means there's three cars ahead of them at a roundabout.

The Cities of Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool (Sheffield's historic peers) have left Sheffield behind by a million years, they are the Cities that Sheffield should have been keeping up with.
And now we have the indignation of seeing traditionally secondary cities like Newcastle, Nottingham, Bristol, Southampton, Brighton, and Leicester, leaving it behind as well
You make a lot of great points there. We are not behind Liverpool, Nottingham and Leicester though I am not having that.

We have leaders though over decades who have failed to capitalise on the clear advantages Sheffield has over other cities. We had a road system much better than probably any other city, which we have systematically wrecked and now we are as snarled up as anywhere. Managed decline I call it. The centre now is a disgrace.

We have never really grabbed enterprise like Leeds and the way these safety groups throw their weight around spurious safety issues is a microcosm of the mentality of these overlords. There hasn't been a safety issue on the Kop since it was built.

Oh for the days common sense rather than authoritarian mentality runs this City.

Whole situation is a load of bollox pal sick of hearing about it there’s still loads of tickets in blut for stoke

What are you on about pal. I am a season ticket holder on the kop.
I was talking about someone getting in and then passing his ticket to someone who also got in.nowt to do about buying a ticket for the stoke match?
you must have read the wrong post. I suggest getting your brain in gear before you reply.

Self made rich man rips someone off shocker 🤣
He's not a 'rich man' by any means. He doesn't struggle to put the heating on. He's just a fuckin tight cunt. He's a bricky. He has 3 others working with him. He pays those 3 a set wage per day and he takes whatever is left. Sometimes he's earnt their weeks wage in 2 days. So a nice 3k+ some weeks. Yet you have others putting their hand in their pockets to buy each other an ale - not him.

He asked me for my season ticket when I couldn't make it. "£20" 'Fuck off its only £24 to buy one'
"Buy one then"
'Come on £15'
"Oh OK"
'Cheers'

Friday evening

"Sorry for messing you about but I've got a sitter. I'm going now"

Pay ya 24 ya bell end.

Leeds, Manchester, Nottingham and Sheffield were all very unremarkable land-locked cites back in the day. Unfortunately three of them were a little more pro-active in their approach to attracting footfall and investment into their respective cities…The other simply reacted to it’s situation, and came up short time and time again.
Sheffield should have been a regional powerhouse that sucks people in from all it’s satellite towns in South Yorks, North Derbys and North Notts and beyond…But instead of reaching out and campaigning for these regions, Sheffield prefers competes with them for investment. For example, take HS2. It was due to be sited at Meadowhall were It would have served the region much better, been more direct and less problematic. But Sheffield couldn’t see the bigger picture and wanted it for itself.
My point is, where the good people of West Yorkshire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside and to a lesser extent the East Midlands, ride on the coattails of big thriving cities… Sheffield simply doesn’t have the same appeal in its own region…Sad but true.

Quite true, The people of the satellite towns around Sheffield hate Sheffield. And it doesn't offer them anything more than their little satellite town does.

Sheffield is just a larger version of the toilet they come from

I once got friendly with a man and his family whilst on holiday, a Leeds fan.

Every word was Leeds this, Leeds that, Leeds the other, the city, not so much the club.

It wasn't until late in the holiday that one of his kids told us they were all from Castleford

Can you even imagine somebody from Rotherham, Barnsley, Chesterfield, Doncaster, Worksop or the Peak District towns having such glowing tributes about Sheffield ?

Let alone saying they come from Sheffield when asked

ah ok so "earns 3k a week" is really "grosses 3k a week before deductions". Tight cunt or not, fair play to him if he is keeping 3 people in work.

He isn't keeping them in work. It's not his company. They work on a site for a subby. He acts as 'number 1 bricklayer' (he isn't) and pays himself as such. I'm not privy to his wages either, but considering I know prices and the work that gets put down (£700/1000 bricks and it being easy for 2 brickies to do that before dinner time), it's easy to guess based on knowing what he pays the others. Earns, grosses, does it matter when he's haggling like he does and sneaking in?

Ok I did the leg work for you... Considering that Burnley and Rotherham matches were already sold out when this was introduced. It's been in effect for just 2 yes 2! home games. No wonder you pissed off under your rug claiming you can't be arsed to debate.... Idiot? 🤔

Cool story bro.... 🤡 I've lived in Sheffield, Leeds, Rotherham, Chesterfield and Retford. No-one I've met there hates Sheffield. You on the other hand seem to detest the place? 🤔

As can be seen from page 1 of this thread the restriction was introduced 26th Oct 22.

Instantly before the restriction we had
30,035 v Norwich (2,700 away fans))

Then after the restriction
28,924 Burnley (2,700 away fans) (Note: This match was played 5th Nov, so some tickets had already been sold on the Kop before the restriction was enforced
30,700 Rotherham (2,700 away fans) (Note: The match was previously close to a 32K sell out but over 1000 returned their tickets for a refund, mainly in the BLUT)
27,794 Huddersfield (1,100 away fans)
29,651 Coventry (2,232 away fans)

Home fans in attendance (If we accept our current capacity is 32,024 then the max home capacity is 29,324)
27,335 Norwich
26,224 Burnley (a small amount of tickets on the Kop had already been sold but most of the 1,905 Kop tickets weren't allowed to be sold.
28,000 Rotherham (this exceeded the max because over 29K has already been sold, however 1K were returned for a refund with this on the Kop not allowed to be resold)
26,694 Huddersfield
27,419 Coventry (this is the current home max)

The Coventry match was officially sold out 2 weeks before the match took place.
So we can calculate that 29,324 less 27,419, means there are 1,905 NON season ticket holders on the Kop
and our current max working capacity has been reduced from 32,024 down to 30,119 (when both home and the away ends are sold out).

Regards your comment.
Agree that the FULL effect of the restriction has only applied to 2 matches
however there was a small partial effect on selling Kop tickets for Rotherham and a much bigger effect for the Burnley game,
Most people leave it until the last week to buy tickets on the Kop, so 4 matches have been affected to some extent.

My point is, only 2 matches have been of any use to the club in gauging if the restrictions are having any effect.
People exclaiming, "when will it end?", "it's been months!", are overreacting.

Does that take into account people buying tickets elsewhere in the ground instead? If not, it really doesn’t show an accurate conclusion as to the overall effect.

Agree, good point, thats the hidden variable that no one can know the answer (apart from maybe the data analysts within the club)

Some are assuming that if there's 1,905 non season ticket holders on the Kop, then we must be losing a lot of revenue
but of course there will be fans that normally buy tickets on the Kop who will now be buying tickets in the BLUT.
So it's very possible we aren't losing as much revenue as the stats initially suggest.

The bottom line is that if you're a Kop regular but one of the 1,905 that don't have a season ticket,
there's still space in the ground (mainly in the BLUT) to buy a ticket for any game.

Agree with every word. I am proud to be from Sheffield not proud of the city as it is today. We should close Meadowhall and push all retailers back to the centre with the lure of cheap rents for a couple of years. Create a buzz in the city again. Develop the infrastructure and modernise. Meadowhall and the subsequent atrocious council leadership have destroyed the city centre. I walked down Fargate at the end of November about 7pm and was genuinely shocked at how bad it is. Quite intimidating for people I would think.
