Electronic advertising boards

Funnily enough I’ve changed my mind on the shirts. Now I’ve seen them up close I think they look better quality than last year. I also liked being able to actually read the numbers on the back. My eyesight isn’t the greatest and even with glasses I rely on the numbers to tell me who some of the players are.

I also like the electronic boards. They give the feel of a modern stadium. There were one or two on the highlights of the Championship show who still haven’t got them and it looked poor by comparison on tv. We also had proper companies advertising instead of made up ones like some clubs seem to prefer.

Yeah I take the point about seeing the numbers - it would be good if they could make the numbers more visible without having to sacrifice the stripes on the back.
The boards are less of an issue for me than the kit, which I just think is awful.

think we should all club together and pay for a 90 minute, none stop, advertising feature saying "fuck off you piggy bastards" for the game on 11th November ;)

UTB
Or simply register a company called something like Bouncing Day Taxis or Embargo Cabs and pay to advertise them.

I found them to be a welcome distraction yesterday from the abysmal performance of several shitcunts in the team.

Wondered if we get paid for these directly; we negotiate the space and if its dependent on being a live match or not. As in the old Star salesreps busy selling each game based on expected audience or is it a straight fee per season?

I thought about the idea of green screens - I mean, is Ladbrokes really selling to the John Street stand, or the TV audience watching?

A blank green screen could easily be overlayed by individual TV broadcasters - Asia, America etc. could add their local adverts on the blank space.

We would then be paid a fee based on our selling potential.

All we'd see in the ground would be blank green screens.

But I'm not privvy to the actual deal or how much we are getting.

Wouldn't work for Norwich though.

Green screens around a football pitch?

Blue surely given the huge green screen they're playing on, but even then, the lighting isn't uniform enough for good bluescreen I don't think.

Oh.. go on then.. name the "shitcunts"?

I know which substitute it won't be..

Billy wasn't a shitcunt yesterday at all and you'd have to be a blind shitcunt to say he was haha.. We were better with him (and Duffy) on than we were the previous 80 minutes.

Anyway. We'll be better on Tuesday.

Stevens, Lundstram, Evans = shitcunts.

Basham precariously close at the moment.

And if Baldock carries on neglecting his primary role by thinking he's a fucking forward then he can do one as well.

Thanks Gents, I feel things are returning to normal on the Forum :)

Hardly noticed them and never bothered me. It's one of those things people purposely look for and get wound up about just so they can get their daily fix of outrage. We've managed without them for the past 100 years so why do we need them now blah blah blah etc.

And why is it we need them?

Am sure there is a rational explanation, along with music that kills singing, VAR that disrupts play for no reason, and having to sit at football.

But hey, change is good!!

And that entrance music had me nodding off, who the fuck is responsible for that?

Because you can show more adverts and then we get more money.

Football clubs have always needed money, not as much but still. If there'd have been a way to put a fuck load of CRTs around the pitch in the 70s they'd have done it if it made them money.

Means we can have sponsors at short notice too surely, since we don't have to go out and have signs made (which probably cost a bit) just put a file on a laptop and hit play.

Without giving it too much thought I'd say it gives us a significant increase in advertising revenue, especially when we're on TV. Its not like we're the only club doing it.

Well, ok, if it's all about money I'll have to accept it.

But I'm still going to be old and curmudgeonly about that VAR bollox and pop tunes.

Why are you asking me, that's nothing to to do with the thread and my post.

I know what the thread is about pal, I started it. The question wasn't direct for you to answer, more of a generalised point for all viewers.

Well if you quote someone and ask a question it's normally directed at them That's the usual protocol. Pal.

I noticed them briefly, because I commented to my mate that it was a sad indictment on present times that virtually all the adverts were for online betting companies to which he responded, "but that's our life now, or really our kid's lives ". Sad but necessary evil, bit like the entire fucking internet.
