I like them both individually but wish that one or both weren’t so quiet. In fact the entire back line are very similar in that respect, which might explain why a lot of the goals that we concede can be chalked up to poor communication. I’ve talked / shouted my way through matches for the last 40 years, including 5-a-side, and am a firm believer that it has an off-putting effect on forwards, even if you’re not within challenging distance. We could do with some of that at the moment.

If we interbred them with Jake Wright we'd have the best defence in the land instead of just second best .

I'm not sure if anyone can judge if they are talkers or not from the confines of the stand.

Last year he wasn’t vocal enough according to S2

Interesting one that Danny, I've never had RS down as our version of Harpo, but if both JE and JOC lack the directorial noise that's necessary to organise, then maybe it's something they need to work on during training. It's a habit, telling others what to do doesn't come easily to some but it can be taught. An organised defence is a must for any team with ambitions of doing well.

Maybe it's because they don't spend that much time defending.
Then when they are told to, they are confused

You could hear Morgs from St Mary’s roundabout!!
Yes, morgs was vocal and visually so too, lots of pointing and gesturing etc.
But if you've played, as you obviously have, some players talk and make themselves understood without the accompanying theatrics.
I'm sure Jack and John Egan talk loads, most pros tend to be vocal.
