For me it's a no-brainer that EEL will be returning to Wolves in January. Let's be honest, they'd be mad not to. He's also a local lad who would be returning to his team, and unfortunately that's Wolves and not us.

However, have you noticed whose contract is up at the end of the season. Yep it's Harry. As it looks very likely that we will be going up and Hull going down there's no incentive for him to stay there. If United went for him in January it would be a reduced fee as he would be out of contract in June anyway. If Hull kept him to his contract we could get him for nowt at the end of it.

Harry is plenty good enough for the Championship and he's had a taste of the Prem as well. He's still only 23. I'd love to see him back at the Lane and watch him become a legend.

The only problem I foresee is that he's finally becoming established at Hull so a few more clubs are going to become aware of his abilities other than us. C'mon Tufty, lets start planning now and get in first, you know it makes sense!

Very likely that we will go up?

It's looking promising but let's not go daft. Harry would be good to have back though.

No probs with that,we will have all the" think Liverpool" investment to splash :)
in fact we might have eel and Harry...

I'm more concerned than I might have been now we know it's Lambert in charge but I don't think Wolves will want him back long term. I do think they'll want a good fee with him being with them from such an early age though. Then it'll boil down to what clubs are willing to pay, and I doubt too many would be interested who'd comfortably outbid us. He's not at a high enough level yet, but I think he'll get there, which is why I want us to invest.

Maguire is definitely beyond us for the time being, we'd have to be in the Championship with money to spend to have any chance. Boro were interested in the summer. Shame he didn't go, and it now looks like he'll leave on a free. No sell on fee for us. Typical.

It's not that long ago that Maguire was been touted for a move to another PL club. If he's playing regularly for Hull, can't see any reason for him to leave the PL.

He'll be leaving it if he stays at Hull I think.

Comparisons, at least in this context, are veering towards the odious. A new(ish) manager, with tactical ideas of his own, and generally the players he brings in are suitable to his tactical requirements. Who knows how HM would respond to such tactics? What I do know is that the current defensive unit is growing and learning together, they give me a feeling that they'll only improve, and most importantly, we now possess a defence with the type of central defenders we'd sorely missed since HM skipped off to sign for the Hull shilling. Maguire and Cooper weren't a great unit, whereas our current pairing, or is that threesome(?), look as if they are comfortable with each other and prepared to give their all game in, game out. Again, you have to ask the question about the manager's motivational skills and why the players are responding so consistently. It wouldn't take a great deal of awareness to realise that everything about United at the moment is a great fit. We've some way to go but the portents are looking promising...with a little proviso that we show the same willingness to work hard, that we'll contest each challenge by letting our opponents know we won't shirk from the basics, and in doing so that we'll be able to add the gloss that gives us the results we're capable of.

I don't think it's an accident on his part that the contract ends in the summer and he's yet to sign a new one. There was PL interest and no doubt they will follow that up from January onwards. I would be very surprised to see HM playing in the championship for anybody next season.

Would be great to have Harry back but the only way that could be a possibility is if and when we go up and they go down and if he doesn't get an offer from another prem club.

If all those things happened, it would be a realistic target.

It ticks a bladey bladeness box to get Harry back.

I'd say you'd be right there. If Boro stay up they might come back in for him.

If they don't someone else will, offering him a lot more than we can afford.
Fortunately CW understands the concept of scouting so if we lose EEL he'll have someone else lined up.

My thoughts too. Good player, but it'd be a huge hole in the budget.

Me thinks we over think things

EEL is on a season long loan , in a lower division
had he been impressing at Stoke , they might be keen on his return
what we see as a great asset , in these surroundings doesnt relate to Wolves need for a championship ready defender
not one in the last year of his contract
who was injury prone in their eyes
and many wolves fans saw as not good enough

dont panic mr mainwaring
people said we never would get brayford, but we did

Harry will not be coming back, he's on 15k a week at Hull and United have now thankfully got a sensible wage structure in place.

Nyron Nosworthy?
Actually, you make a good point. Are we programmed to assume that if we lose a player it's inevitable that they'll be replaced by someone who's either completely unsuitable or shit, because of what we went through with Blackwell and, to a lesser degree, some of his successors?

No, I was thinking he'd go for a footballer.

What is wrong with old 50 pence head? He was good over ten yards. He may have been going the wrong way but he was good over ten yards.

You are going on the assumption we replace good players with equal or better quality especially during the January transfer window.
