Until we know the full story then it's confusion. It's a backward step but it does look like the relationship between Wilder and the owner was strained and from Wilders interviews lately you could see the change in him. It came to a head and there was only one outcome that could come from that. It's a real shame.

Let me put this simply and plainly for you. I do not believe Howe has the credentials nor previous experience to show he will be able to take us forward. Those clamouring for him like yourself have not looked at the conditions supporting the success he had at Bournemouth.

It is not the same. The Burnley role he took on was probably the closest at which he failed, miserably.

What clarification are you seeking? There is nothing to clarify. Why would I clarify something you posit which I never wrote? You make up your own arguments as you go along and pick points to suit your position. I never said anything about Atlanta taking it from us, you suggested that. Clarify your own point, you made it.

No, the support Howe had pre Prem and during his first years in the Prem was more than Wilder has ever had (not just transfer fees). That built foundations which supported that there after. The model was there, we didn’t follow it. The Prince does not have the bank roll to compete. The club can not move forward without that (I’m not talking just transfer fees and wages). The prince does not want to overspend. He has just thrown away our ability to complete above our means. Howe shows nothing but a step backwards. There’s no credentials to suggest he could touch what wilder has done in similar circumstances.

My thoughts exactly and trying not to see red at the owner is difficult when it probably comes down to the simple fact that he does not have the bank roll and does not want to go over his means. He can’t give Wilder what he needs to take the club forward and the pressure and ridiculous nature of everything that has gone against us as well as covid will have strained finances, tensions, relationships and ... well ruined fucking everything.

And Chris was backed with a war chest of 130m in 2 years. It’s not exactly Farke at Norwich last year is it?
Fact remains he had 2 seasons at Championship level and got promoted. The exact same as Chris.

Regardless to all of that, spending money doesn’t equal success. But you seem to want to give no credit to Howe for that.

Honestly Ancient, I’m still in despair we’ve made the choice to self harm ourselves by doing this. Then again, being a blade... it was only a matter of time.

My biggest issue with this decision is I don’t see anyone else who is a step forward. The man for the job has just left. We’ll be starting from block 1 again and could very easily slip back down into the depths.

I don’t see any out there who takes us forward right now. Maybe I’ll come back to you in a day or so when I’m not in full despair mode. I’m just sick of seeing the same clowns harp on. Then again, maybe a good thing about an upcoming demise is we won’t have to suffer the idiots, clowns and plastics for too long. Not as many in number in any case.
 

I've said elsewhere howe is the best out of the linked and available (out of work) list. Although the list is very underwhelming. It better not be the random guy who's managed the Saudi u23s.

i think we will just see this season out with hecky and tindall and look at things this summer of the managers being touted howe is the best candidate at the minute but who knows who will be available in 2 months time thats how we dropped on bassett in 88

That's as maybe but who would you have if you had the choice, available or not to replace Chris Wilder? Obviously we can't afford the Peps or Joses.
Personally I have time for Paul Warne, well liked and doing a good job with Rotherham in extremely challenging circumstances. He knows the championship and appears to wear his heart on his sleeve for Rotherham. Could he manage a team promoted to the Premiership? Who knows? same could have been said about Wilder.
 
I like Howe and he's got good credentials but could he settle oop North, he didn't at Burnley mind you I wouldn't want to live there either. He's young and is used to working on a shoestring as I say my main worry is would he settle, I know Bassett did but who knows.

He did at first (He had to manage in the face of major financial struggles in his early days with Bournemouth - something that shaped his approach in the future) yes he got money in PL and bloodied a few noses

I have a feeling Tindall is here to be Howes no 2 again .Howe then comes in end of the season with out the relegation on his cv and is now scouting players he wants to bring in

I agree initially but he then was provided with massive funds to buy and fund players on big salaries which as I say exceeded FFP and would have resulted in punishment if they had not achieved promotion.

the fact that he is don Howes son is another reason I don’t want him but v happy to be proven wrong
