From what I remember if Byron Webster he's more of a sweeper type than a big ball winning defender a la EEL, so I don't think he'd be a great replacement, more an upgrade on Jake Wright perhaps. So whilst I would take him, I would worry slightly that we'd be lacking a bit of physicality and aerial dominance at the back.
Keith Edwards says we should learn from Brayford and not pay over the odds for EEL,how much is over the odds tho ?
Hmm. It'll be interesting to see which direction this thread goes if we're simply told that it's OK for us to keep him until the end of the season as planned and we can take it from there regarding signing him permanently.
Some have turned the kid from being one of the main reasons for our upturn in fortunes and the much liked no-nonsense commanding central defender that we've needed for years at this level, to a 2 bit donkey that we could easily replace for a packet of fags and a and s bag of mint imperials.
I wonder if players ever read forums?
It says he hasn't got a real face!http://sofifa.com/player/186122
If EA sports know their shit (and they usually do), Pinchy is right on this one.

Who is?Bollocks to all this right foot, left foot stuff
He's clearly amphibious.....

You obviously missed when the Walsall striker drifted past him to score or the Coventry player drifted past him twice only for Basham to get him out of the shit both times. Add in the shocking back pass that so nearly cost us in the same game and suddenly this super star hat that some of our fans have put on him begins to slip a bit, I like the lad but irreplaceable he certainly isn't.![]()

You've missed the back pass at Fleetwood.
I never said he doesn't make mistakes, all defenders do.
I just think comparing him to Reda Johnson is a bit like comparing Mrs Brown to Holly Willoughby.
End of tease.Insert meme here, something like a big picture of a penis, and the word tease under it![]()
There's nowt sexier than an Irish accent..

I think that’s a bit of an exaggeration. I think the general consensus is roughly:-
Good Defender. Very strong and good in the air which means he’s also a threat at set pieces at the other end BUT a very limited footballer when the ball is on the deck.
I’d love to keep him for the rest of the season as planned and maybe even sign him permanently if the price is right. I don’t think we should be blowing our budget on him like we did with Brayford.
Got him til end of season
Has anyone mentioned that this lad has only just turned 24 and still has plenty of time to develop before he's at his peak? ........
.....When I first saw Maguire I said he was an amazing talent, and he continued to develop really well. Then I saw him start a season at least 1 stone heavier and looking around for others to blame when he was the one not reacting quickly enough and clearly lacking a yard or two of pace. .
How you knowThink about what's going to happen at the end of the season, not now!!
He's stopping!!
