Having just watched Olly on Sheffield Utd Way podcast, I can’t help feeling a bit sad. Even as a huge fan of olly, I think he painted a sad picture of dystopian Blades, past, present and future.
Having young supporters this frustrated with such a lack of communication from the club is both positive and negative.

It’s negative because according to Olly, nothing has happened at SUFC. According to Olly nothing happened on a number of occasions during the last season, or in the time so far elapsed between last season and this!

My younger self applauds him putting this rant together, because it means that younger Blades still have great passion for the game and the club. That is a positive we can all be proud of.

I’m proud of the passion shown by younger Blades who have been through so many let downs and disappointments, as me, and they still get angry at the club for anything at all.

As a dribbling old fool, I have witnessed any number of disappointments since the 1960s and I know there are supporters who have been around longer. The point is, we old farts may have seen it all before, and got the T shirt. I can feel the comfort in that podcast, that our younger fans feel the same way I did in the dark dark days past. Angry passionate and demanding.

My only excuse is old age breeds contempt and possibly a bit more patience. Well done Olly, for being young, angry and passionate.

Should I be worried that I don’t know who Olly is or the Sheffield United Way? From your post he seems to be THE ITK

I thought he came across well he only said what wear all thinking just hope that members of the board have watched it they probably haven’t but be good if they did for them to know how we all feel might make them get a move on

I think it’s symptomatic of the ‘younger generation’ nowadays. The saturation of information means that people are desperate for details NOW and stamp their feet when it’s not immediate forthcoming.
That said - that lack of news from the Lane is piss poor in fairness to this Olly character - whoever he is.

The "here we go..." generation.

I remember the good old days when you used to find out a transfer with a bit in the paper.

When was the last time a signing was a surprise?

No-one has any patience any more. Honestly, people expecting a multi million pound company to be bought in the same was you pop down to tesco for a tin of beans is mental.

When I have been aware of small companies being sold/bought, usually timing is at least 3-6 months. No one needs to be aware of any of the details other than if it happens or doesn't happen.

It doesn't feel great at the moment because we have such a small squad but 2 months ago everyone was moaning non of the players are good enough, now we are seeing wishing we didn't let Max Lowe go! 🤣

omg perhaps I really am a dinosaur. I haven't got a clue what the op is on about ......... "dystopian" ??????? Olly???? Sheff United Way podcast?????

In my defence I can't explain the pleasure I used to get queuing up at the newsagents waiting for the Green'un delivery following a Blades win and a pigs defeat. I'd wait there in the rain, grab my copy, head off to the pub and sit and read it with a pint or 3 for a good couple of hours, then grab a takeaway and take myself home to watch Match of the Day - back in the day when it was worth watching.

Oh how I long for the good old days - life was so much simpler back then.

Olly is merely a bed wetting geek, and judging by his bedroom wall, he’s also pissed off Dr Bruce Banner.

I like Olly and I am a big fan of SUW including Hal, YorkBlade. With Nick, they produce a more balanced view of what might be going on at SUFC.

The youngest member of that team is Olly for those who don’t know. I’m probably doing him a disservice with my observations but it’s probably a generational thing.

In today’s world of instant information and instant gratification, we all want to be kept up to date by instant media. My only complaint is that the Prince does not make full use of the SUFC website to keep us up to date, preferring to leak info through confidants, or other means. I want him to use SUFC.com, because it avoids any confusion, and mostly because he, as owner pays for it.

In his absence, I recommend The Sheffield United Way.

I could invest (my Mrs would say waste) a good few hours reading the back page with all the results on it. It’s not the same reading them on’t net.

..and many died shortly after retiring !!
Some things change for the better others don’t.

I guess some supporters these days have more of a sence of engagement which is possitive but with that comes a sense of entitlement and ownership which is unfounded.
There a thirst for information and rumour , 24 hr tv and radio channels , podcasts , phone ins and social media .
Those days people have mentioned that you looked to see the line up in the star on a Friday and just went to the match on Saturday as a release from work are long gone. Many people no longer have a sense of perspective of how important football is in thier lives and spend so much time worrying about something they can't influence. It's created a monster that needs feeding constantly and when it's not theirs the constanation and anger of a jilted lover.
As the betting ads state , when the fun stops , stop .
Take it for what it is , enjoy the banter ,the engagement, the hope , the joy . Shrug at the rest.

I think you confused it with the Bring Back Fingering flag
More like finger pointing (fans negativity, players shit, manager shit, ticket office shit and let’s not forget chairman shit) I’ll be happy if fans start pointing rather than sitting on their hands.

Doesn’t need to he’s got enough advocates on here.

A good post which demonstrates your understanding. It also leads me to believe that you are smart, or just more mature like me. With age comes responsibility, tolerance and understanding. In most cases!

I could spend an hour just reading the attendances from the Scottish games. Don't know why*, but I always found that so fascinating. As you say, for some reason it isn't anywhere near so interesting when on a screen.

*I do know really. I just don't want to admit that I'm a 100% geek.

I know exactly what you mean. Imagine the delight from my missus when I stuck my head up to report ‘ooh, Stenhousemuir v Alloa Athletic, got a higher attendance than Forfar v Cowdenbeath’.
Her reply of ‘are you backward?’ I took to mean ‘my god you are such catch, let’s have sex immediately’.
