ive supported United since 1984.

I played football myself to a decent level.

Duffy is our version of Paul Scholes. He’s so good and I’m struggling to remember another Blade in my time as good as this fella. Forget Brooks, Coutts etc. Duffy is our fulcrum, our creativity core. When he went off V Reading last week we went down hill.

This lad is a genius.

I just want him on the ball all the time in the in the final third. His vision, his ball control, and his confidence on the ball is immense. Sky were coming over themselves about Brooks, but Duffy took the ball, controlled the pace, and yes, Brooks made the run and finish, but the through ball from Duffy was sublime. took out their defence completely. Top man!

They’ll have to rename it “The Mark Duffy Man of the Match Award” soon.
Consistent quality and two more brilliant passes for the assists. The ball to Brooks was especially sumptuous.
All round top player & bloke.

Is that you Sir Chris?

The other players will get jealous and resentment may creep in if you don't spread your praise more evenly you know.

Don't want to tell you how to do your job Sir, but just saying like !

Agree with that mate. I think we've had some decent midfielders over the years, but Duffy is right up there amongst the best of them. Off the top of my head, from the 80's onwards, players like Kevin McDonald, Stuart McCall, Don Hutchison, Michael Brown, Michael Tonge, Mark Paterson, Gordon Cowans, Glynn Hodges, Glen Cockerill, come to mind, No doubt I missed some. All of these were good/outstanding at some point in their careers with us.

(I thought Wilder got it wrong taking him off v Reading - as we lost the ability to keep the ball when he went off - although, it was made worse by them bringing on John Swift, who really got them fired up).

Duffy had a habit last season of not playing particularly well on occasion but still ending up with a couple of assists (Chesterfield away to pick one example).

Now he still makes two goal every match, and runs the game in the meantime as well.

Wonderful player who just keeps getting better. Looks more at home in this league than he did in league 1.
For all the talk of us worrying about selling Brookes, Fleck at al don't be surprised if one or two clubs are weighing up bids for this lad as well. His age is the only thing that counts against him now but he still has a couple of seasons in him at this level, at least.

I questioned his ability to step up to this division, but performances like last night showcase his talent. Hell of a player and picks out two fabulous passes for his strikers to finish.

Agree, duff man is a genius and lovely player to watch ,
His performances, assists and his goal against some mid table team already this season have been brilliant,

Also his fitness levels are so much better and is lasting whole /most of the games and not just 60 mins, although this is also down to playing too well to be subbed !

The Fitness levels of all players is great but particularly the more senior fellas, sharp, duff man , Leon etc

Duffy has been brilliant so far this season, we play so much better as a team when he's in it. Always available to receive the ball, constantly looking to make things happen when he's got it, ok it doesn't always come off but he doesn't let his head go down or 'disappear' he continues to want the ball. I think the difference this season to last is that the stuff he tries comes off more than it did last season possibly because the team as a whole is better and obviously they have got to know each others games a lot more from playing together. I hope he stays fit and we can get at least another couple of seasons out of him. Brilliant 'mentor' for Brooks too in that role behind the front two.

What isn't mentioned enough is his defensive work, it's phenomenal. If you watch, when we haven't got the ball, he wins it back a lot, wins a lot of headers he has no right to and covers for his team mates. Proper players player.
