I know the level of opposition has been generally poor and it's pre season etc, but based on his showing he has looked decent and I think we could do a lot worse than offering him a deal.

Presumably he wouldn't cost the earth in wages / signing on fees and he has experience at this level. Depth and experience is always needed for a long championship season, and we do have a youngish squad at the moment.

Want to see him against Rotherham and Huddersfield and then would decide.

However he’s looked very impressive in our team. We are controlling possession much more and he seems to really by into that well.

Depends if we're planning on using Shackleton at full back now. He looks decent but so has everyone else in midfield so far.

A bargain or a good find is always welcome. But eventually if you're signing too many of the likes of shackleton, dozzell, tyrese campbell not to mention the worrying amount of minutes adam davies is getting you're eventually going to end up with a bottom half of the championship squad.

Unless he really pulls up some trees I'd focus on quality over quantity in literally the only part of the pitch we currently have some strength in.

Exactly this

Wilder loves to have balance in midfield with a left and right footer so expect we'll sign him.

I see few downsides tbh. Low wages, short contract and makes excellent back up if nothing else. He's a tidy enough player from what I've seen.

Maybe these players are coming in as a kind of safe buy at the moment?
If the takeover doesn't happen, we'll at least have a team to put out that will function but struggle.

If the takeover does happen, they will be squad players, with a few more quality / costly signings bringing up our competitiveness???

Greasy Chap Butty my thoughts exactly, the takeover can’t be assumed done on time or with enough time to get players in because we’d effectively be standing still, which would leave us on a very sticky wicket if it went tits up. Must be an impossible situation for wilder to manage.

That said Dozzell is a good age and has looked very tidy, I reckon he knows this is his one of his last chances to play for a club that has ambition to play at the highest level.

If he puts in another good display on Saturday, then I'd happily sign him. Good sub appearance at Chezzy - nice goal, and some good passing, including a neat 1-2 in the build up to the 3rd.

Always looked comfortable last night in a playmaker-type role. Good eye for a pass. Would be a good option to have along with Blaster as the one to maintain a tempo on the pitch.

Available 5 11 left footed DM,s are at a premium. Agree should judge on Rotherham game, better standard of opposition. CW said a decision would be made then.

A 1-2 year deal as a rotational/depth option on (presumably) relatively low wages would not be awful. Much as I hate bringing in "experience" for the sake of it, as it's a pretty darned inefficient use of money in a division where even the most clued up clubs lose a packet, we could probably use one or two like this if only because we have had so many outgoings. But, as Addison says, let's get more data points, it's not one that we really need to jump on without learning more

For me this is where you have to be brave and leave an avenue to the first team for youth rather than fill the squad with players like this. Nothing against him - he might be a really good player.
That's true, depends on the plans for the youth though, if someone like Peck is going to be stuck playing Under 23s all season and never even gets on the bench for the first team because Dozzell is blocking his path then that's not great for developing him. If the best youths are getting loaned out and we need some experienced back-up who can slot straight into the first team, Dozzell doesn't seem like a bad option, especially as he's free.

If nobody else is leaving we'll probably have too many central midfielders if he signs too, would prefer us to sort the defence out.

Disagree on the midfield comment.

We've lost McAtee, Osborn, Norwood, Fleck in the last few months. There's also a good chance Souza may leave. T.Davies is never fit.

I like the look of him, but presumably we won't be carrying Dozzell, Blaster, Hamer, Souza, Davies, Shackleton and Blaster for the two CDM slots.
