"We're gutted for the fans as well. It's another low for them, but I'd just like to say to them, personally, I'm already looking forward to next season and I'm not going anywhere until we get this club out of this division. We'll be back more determined than ever because this club does not belong in this league."

Yes we do belong in this division Doyle!

You need to accept it and do your best to change it.

( I still don't agree with the play offs and I realise what he may be trying to say but......)

I'm OK with that. He is one of the players who's surprised me this season and I'd be happy if he's staying as long as he has a play maker along side him. I wish it was McDOnald, but I suspect not.

I accept what you say. We are where we are through our own edeavour, and will stay here (or go even lower!) if we don't win enough matches or continue to fail to win key matches. But without wishing to get all "massive", we are below where we ought to be and are under achieving quite significantly. I think that is probably what Doyle meant. Nice to hear him speaking in that manner though!

So we are not where we belong?????

I'd suggest that we are.

To be fair SF, these are the kind of comments I want to hear right now from BTDBL. I know what you mean though, you have to earn the right.

We belong where we end up.....be real people.

I've been tagged as a clapper for years but we have to accept where we are to improve.

And there's me thinking Doyle is a division 1 player and we "belong" there because we didn't go up.

Where did I go wrong??

Please help.

:)

This club should be in a higher division, however we aren't and we are where we deserve to me. I don't think there is any need to pick on it however. Not sure why you're so grouchy today

We have to earn the right to be in a higher division.

Very patronising to dismiss every other team and say we "should" be in a higher place just because of who we are.

You have to earn that right.

11 v 11

Not grouchy just being a realist as well as chief clapper!

:)

I agree with 'We have to earn the right to be in a higher division'. However if he didn't come out with a positive response he would have been vilified.

Think your making more of the comment than you need to SF. For me if we get eleven statements like that then it signals a battle cry for next season. Bring it on because you can't mull over yesterday. You have to look to the opportunity to put it right.

And after losing ched in the manner we did they have every right to feel sorry for themselves.

So we are not where we belong?????

I'd suggest that we are.

We are where we are on merit, (or rather lack of it in our case!). I wouldn't argue with that. We are where we deserve to be. But if we were performing at a level proportionate to our size/resources/fan base etc, then no we should not be this level now and never should have been in the past either.

I think you know what people, includingDoyle, mean and seem to be making an argument where there really isn't one.

I am pleased to hear positive comments coming from our players, better than negatives any day.

Noone is being patronising. If you look at the comments passed on this thread I think you can see that everyone believes we are currently where we deserve to be.

However, I would also say we are under performing relative to our size/resources/fan base, or whatever measurement you want to employ. In the 'natural' scheme of things we should be in a higher league than some of the clubs who are currently ahead of us, and that is not intended as any sort of disrespect to any club. Just as you would expect that Manchester United should always finish above us (unless we find a billionaire Blade somewhere to take us over).

We are where we deserve to be, but below where we ought to be. If this was a school report it would say something along the lines of 'Should be doing much better than this. Must try harder'.

I believe he is a genuine guy and is trying to give us supporters a bit if a lift after yesterday.

Excellent statement from the man.

And no, a club of our size shouldn't be in this division.

And yes, we currently are where we deserve to be.

The two aren't mutually exclusive.

I know but to say we didnt deserve to go up and Huddersfield do is wrong :(

Same can be said for the pigs............ It is called having a owner/chairman with some balls to change things when they are not quite right.

These decisions are probably wrong 5 times more than they are right. The difference is it's only the ones that pay off that make the news and continue to be talked about. It's why hindsight is useless.

We are in this division because we missed 1 penalty out of 11. It's a fine line between deserving to be in the division and not. Don't try and turn one players positive statement into a negative

This season just gone we were in League One deservedly so, this next season we are not but that is the cruelty of lower league football.

Finish 3rd in the Premier League and you get a Champions League place.

I do hope MacD, Quinn, Lowton, Maguire and Willo all go out and say the same thing as Doyle and add that they'll happily do it on less money as well! :)

Happy with what Doyle said - shows he cares. I stayed after the final pen for as long as it took for the stewards to chuck me an Ken Jnr out. Doyle was in bits and had to be consoled by several Blades players. All that hard work done over in a couple of mad seconds - must be tough for a pro to take - we know it is for us.

Where was this quote from SF?
I heard the audioboo that Staton tweeted a link to but those words were not in it.

Incidently Staton title the tweet something like "We'll win the league next year" when actually Doyle only talked about the aim of winning the league nxt season - still prompted some Wendies, who clearly did not listen to the interview, to pour scorn on the arrogance of winning the league.

On another tweet of an audioboo Staton had "A tearful Stephen Quinn speaking after and agonising defeat in the Palyoffs at Wembley" well that did not come across in the audio, passionate - yes, drained emotionally - yes, disapointed - yes, gutted - yes, etc. but let's not take away his journolistic license to get near the truth. Staton likes to rub it in and provide his wendy chums something to goad about

And also we played shite on Saturday, I didn't think we has a shot on target on Saturday, but someone says we had 1, and Wilson got the tatics compeltly and utterly wrong. Doyle has to be positive, what else can he do, he is not going to turn round and say, "It doesn't matter I get paid for next season, so we will try again next season it doesnt matter. and don't worry I can always go and play for someone else, what have I got to worry about" I don't want to hear about the players saying we are sorry, they should be, but they are only going to tell us what we want to hear. If a nice new contract from another club comes along they won't feel sorry for us then. Yes as you can tell I have not calmed down from yet another disaster in my United supporting life..

Without opening a huge can of worms and putting my tin hat on, did Wilson really get the tactics wrong? All week long everyone was saying we need to score at least 2 or 3 to win because Rhodes will definitely score. We nullified Huddersfield throughout and despite finishing higher in the league we were going in with a patched up team so yes, I believe we did have to set up to nullify their threats rather than let them worry about us. Had Lowton scored his penalty we would have been 2-0 up with two penalties to go. Taylor's penalty was an inch too far over; had it gone in we'd be saying it was perfect and the tactics were spot on.
