Still never mind. At least they will be fresh for the next championship game.

pugni nei reni. It's Italian, and has it's root in the Latin word pugnus, "fist," and reni, from the Latin 'rēnēs', from which we get 'renal'.

What's the Latin for wheelchair though.

bellum, bellum bellum, belli etc.

Man City can give permission if they want. Think about it though if they don't let them play does that mean they are scared of losing or just downright shits. Either way I think to some quarter it will look bad on Man City if they don't let them play.
Man city can't give them permission to play

Secretly I bet they are both glad it’s City in the semis and not in the final. If somehow we win the semis they could both be involved in a FA Cup Final. Hope to see a neat one two on edge of box and Doyle the goyle smashes it home int final 🙌

Imagine if they did score and dumped their parent club out of the fa cup sem-final. They'd be absolute paraiahs at Man City for life. I doubt they'd want that.
In the circumstances it would be sporting if City let us pick 2 players of their squad to not play also. Can't say fairer than that.
With a European match in midweek before and Arsenal the Tuesday after, I suspect they'll be resting a few anyway, but looking at their squad it's pretty irrelevant.

Yeah just went one page back.
However they can still ask for nothing :)

We aint gonna have a remote totty of a chance without those two.

i very much doubt haarland will play in the semi final with bayern the wednesday before and arsenal the wednesday after him and de bruyne will almost certainly be on the bench wonder what kyle is thinking tonight 🤔

What is the actual thinking behind this FA rule? If Cancelo can play for Bayern against city in the champions league, what is is about the FA cup that warrants a ban on loan players facing their parent club?
All the rule can possibly achieve - as far as I can see - is to pass a big advantage to clubs further up the football pyramid (who have picked up all the best young players for their academies to then selectively send them out to lower league clubs to aid their development).
Deliberately giving higher ranked clubs an advantage just seems contrary to the spirit of the FA cup.
Has the rule always been like this?
The only reason I can think of for the rule would be to increase consistency - if say some loan agreements somehow stipulated a ban on playing against a parent club, but others said it was fine, then that might seem like it should be the same for every loan player. But is that it?
Am I missing something about why this rule exists?

It's been an FA cup rule for a long long time.

For the League Cup it's totally fine for players to play against their parent team with permission.

Seems like the FA Cup is the only cup that enforces this dumb rule

If we belt one of their players into the air early doors the rest will be on edge the whole game. Need one of Robbo's specials very early on.

I don’t know if it’s true, but I saw something that said if the player was on a season long loan, he is not classed as a loan player and is free to play against his parent club in an FA Cup tie? *

* Could possibly have read about it on here, so maybe take it with a pinch of salt! 😉

Robbo needs to harness his inner Roy Keane vs Haaland senior and implement it on Haaland junior.

Maybe it's more of a case of it being a "legacy" rule?

The F.A. don't want to see too many changes to the most historic cup in the world do they? It's not like we play semi-finals at Wembley or anything... oh wait.
That makes them sound like a right bunch of Flat Earthers! Not saying you're wrong though.

That was the rule previously, it's not anymore.

It's usually a standard clause in most loan arrangements, so would imagine even if the FA allowed it, Citeh would veto.

Plus, even the most incompetent of scouts will have seen how badly we fall off once Doyle and McAtee aren't playing, so why the hell would you let us play them?

With a midfield of Norwood, Fleck and Berge, Pep could play his Under 18's and be confident of having enough athleticism and movement to beat us...
