Don't sign anyone on loan

We both agree loan players can improve results temporarily. We seem to disagree on:

  • the long term consequences of continually, systematically avoiding to give our own youngsters playing time
  • first team football at a high level being the most effective way to develop young players
  • the long term effects of continually choosing short term solutions to plug gaps in the squad
  • the things that could happen if the club continue to overspend

I agree that we disagree on these points.

I suppose I'm from the "I want it now" generation. I want results in the shortest time possible. Improving the squad with a couple of wisely chosen loan players CAN (again, cannot say for definite) give us a better chance of success. It is a bonus that this success would give us more of a chance of keeping our own youngsters. The higher up the ladder we are, the easier it is to send our own youngsters out on loan to see if they're good enough, rather than risk our own results if they turn out not to be.
