....blame the absolutely terrible defending that led to the shot.

To be fair, he also pushed it to the side which is what they're taught to do. He was unlucky in that it went straight to Abraham and also the fact he was the only one who reacted to it.

There were a lot of "if only"s in that build-up. Glib, I know, but these things happen-what's important is to learn from it.

it took a deflection as well. Poor team goal.

Hendo's to blame for the first with a Basham assist.

JOC gets the blame for the 3rd.

All about how we react now rather than moaning on like bitches about last night :)

If his confidence wasn't shot by the first goal, hendo holds that 2nd all day long. Took a deflection yeah, but it also took a lot of the pace off it. If he's on it, he holds it, but he crumbled after the first, you could see it in his face and body language. He will no doubt bounce back though and could be busy on Wednesday against boro, especially aerial attacks.

Hendo clearly at fault for the 2nd. It was a routine save. Crap defending as well though.

We fucked it up, it wasn't through lack of effort. Some of this criticism is ridiculous.
You can accept errors as part and parcel of the game and you're unfortunate if it costs points as it did v Leets. The whole disbelief around last night was the fact we did it 3 times, in the space of 12 minutes, from a seemingly unassailable position.

The problem we now have is that the previous 81 minutes are in danger of being forgotten about. It will be interesting to see whether the Villa fans are appluading their team or saying, as they should be in my opinion, that they deserved nothing and it's papering over the cracks. Having said that, they've done it several times this season albeit not from that far back.

This ^^^^^^

We looked in no danger for 80 minutes, with Hendo having virtually nothing to do.

and it wasn't 'fantastic play' by them, basically 3 set pieces we failed to deal with. Plus our inability to get the ball out of our own half for longer than 10 seconds. There was one opportunity late on when Fleck (I think) and AN Other (maybe George) contrived to not manage to keep the ball near the corner flag for more than 5 secs.

Thin line, JOC hoofs that upfield and we'd have won.

I think he's got to do better...it's not got a lot of pace on the ball, and should have pushed it away from danger,or even held it for me..i'm sure he will think the same watching his body language at the end of the game, seemed to be taking responsibility.

It's been noticeable in a few games that, although very good at everything else, Deano seems to lack confidence in the air. He had one earlier in the game where instead of catching he punched. This is by far fron having a go. He's brilliant, just an observation of what he needs to work on.

It doesn't happen if the clear offside is given.
We can't really complain about that, considering Billy's 2nd shouldn't have stood for offside at first and then the keeper did have it in 2 hands under control. Plus they should have had a pen, we can't grumble that the officials were bad for us.

That's another annoying thing, key decisions went for us last night and we still failed to take advantage.

I'm not. The officials job is not to compound errors with more errors. Every decision on its own merits. It explains how the shooter had more time and space than he should've done. The offside trap worked.

Hendo looked off it throughout. There was a routine catch in the first half that he decided to punch out for no apparent reason.

All players have their off days and he had his yesterday. It’s unfortunate for us and him that goalkeeping mistakes are so much more in the spotlight.

He’s a good character and incredibly young. Will only be a good lesson for him and I’m sure he’ll win us those points back in other games to come.

You mean the dozen Villa fans who were still in the ground...?
