I think we have a good chance of going up if we can get Clarke to get his finishing boots back on. Regardless of the outcome at the end of the season. I am just happy with what season we have had so far! We have not lost to pigs at home, massacred them away, put an end to that ridiculous bouncing cringe and we are more than likely going to finish above them. All good being a blade in my view!!

I've put no. Unless we seriously improve our final ball and Ched returns with a bang, I just don't see us getting goals against the stronger teams and the teams that don't cross the halfway line.

I don't think Brooks will be as effective when he returns as most think. One to hit the ground running next season.

Still think we're on for 65 ish points and this, coupled with the potential shown at the start of the season, will be an excellent season.

Im not being negative just realistic. As someone else said, it's not how you play it's how you score. I just don't see us capitalising in games where chances are at a premium and that's what gets you in the mix for promotion. Very very fine margins in this league.

We spend large periods of the game down the flanks but no goals yet from someone cutting inside and banging it in the top corner.

Yes but it’s going to be difficult. Of the current top 6 the only ones I feel guaranteed to stay there are Wolves, Villa and Fulham.

The rest are all a little suspect to me and I wouldn’t be surprised to see any of them drop out. It sounds obvious but we need to put together a winning run to catapult is back up in to the reckoning. Our next 5 league games after today are all games we should be looking to win in. Get say 12 points from them and I’m confident we will be back in the top 6.

A couple of weeks ago I would've said yes, but now I'd have to say no.

I said earlier in the season, pre Coutts injury, that I'm sure we'll maintain good standards but it depends on whether the other teams step up a level. Unfortunately, a few of them have, and with their budgets and squads they're likely to make it stick. We on the other hand have lost our most influential player and suffered for it, as well as having some other difficulties.

I also think the Villa defeat was a real blow.

I think Bristol City are possibly the only team in the top 6 we can catch.

Previously I fancied us to finish above Fulham but they've hit form and had a good transfer window.

It's also hard to see Boro not finishing above us with Pulis there.

Heart says yes, head says no.

We've started to see lately that opposition teams have much more quality in comparison. What I've noticed is that if it's level late in the game, we seem to have more chance of losing than winning due to the opposition's quality finally shining through - Snodgrass for example. Even against Bristol City we ended up losing late on.
But, saying all that, we could go to wolves and bloody win

No. Our form (in terms of points) has been wretched for some time now, and everyone else seems to be getting better.

We're also not as good as we think we are. Given how many times people have trotted out 'play like that every week and we'd win 9 times out of 10' after every setback, we're currently due something like a 36 game winning streak...

Plenty of football to be played yet with teams taking points off each other. Villa and Fulham on great runs at the moment but Fulham have a run of 6 fixtures in 21 days starting in a couple of weeks.
Villa (h)
Bristol City (a)
Wolves (h)
Derby (a)
Us (h)
Preston (a)
That could make or break there season.
Cardiff still have to go to Derby, Villa and us and play Bristol and Wolves at home
Plenty of time, twists and turns yet. We just have to concentrate on getting our own run going again then who knows?

No. We're not good enough yet.

Playing better football than the opposition does not get you points. Scoring more goals than them does and we are not doing it.

In one off matches I agree

But statistics show that a team that dominates matches creating more than chances than the opposition almost every match tend to win far more than they lose.

Ever heard the saying about it’s performances that drive results.
Keep playing well and it’s only a matter of time for that team to get the rewards.

I agree that play-offs is now looking doubtful but this prediction stuff is too premature.
We’ve just signed 4 new players who all hope to be first team regulars.
That’s a massive chance to the team, let’s judge our chances after they’ve settled in for, say 6 games. Then we’ll have a better idea.

We are coming to end of a really tough run of fixtures & bad luck as weve had no easy games. Villa home & away, Sunderland, Derby, Wednesday, Norwich, Wolves & Leeds for half for 5 of them 8 games we had a thin squad. The fact that we couldve been 2pts off automatic shows that our competition have been poor as well but we just need to take advantage of QPR hull reading & burton

Probably not but due to the good start we had, expectations grew and we talked about auto’s and then play offs. If we finish anywhere in the top 10 it should be classed as a great achievement. We’ve had some terrific results this season and outplayed 90% of the teams in this league but I do feel we lack that final quality to push on to be a playoff contender. That said, who knows what will happen when the new boys settle in and the injured players return.

Yes if:

a) We stop backing off any fucker taking a run at us and having a pop from the edge of the area
b} We start taking a run at them and having a pop from the edge of the area
c) Stop playing Leon & the Don together
d) Stop making fucking daft substitutions

Simple stuff.

Without over complicating it to .0000's, we need to average 2 points every game between now and season's end to be in with a good shout of a play off place. Going on recent form, we have averaged a point a game consistently for the last 15, 10 & 5 games. We've also average near enough a 0 goal difference of the same games.

Split the remaining games into 3 sets of 5 (I appreciate that there's 17 left). Concentrating on the first set of 5 first, which is Wolves (A), Leeds (H), QPR (H), Hull (A) & Reading (A) we need 10 points and it's do-able. After Reading, see where we are, where everyone else is and go again into the next set of 5. If we finish the 1st block of 5 games with 5 points, I would suggest that we are looking a spot between 10th and 12th, which as people have said previously is still punching above our weight & a great season in perspective. :)

Think it will be a big challenge, we have been sussed out when we play at home. Unless we can find a way of winning most of our remaining home games, improved final ball, more creative and clinical we will probably finish just outside top 6. Not the end of the world and we go again next season

Honestly don't even want us to finish in the top six. Not only would we obviously lose them, but we're also not good enough at the moment and would have to spend huge amounts in the Prem just to try and compete. Could be bad for us in the long-term, just like if we had been promoted under Wilson.

Let's keep building and keep the nucleus of this team together.

Unfortunately not.

We just aren't scoring enough goals at the moment and that leaves us open to getting punished by expensive players with abit of something special consistently. That said if we had beaten Bolton and drawn with Villa the entire story would be looking a whole to brighter.

FWIW I think we will finish 9th - but that said if we go on a run who knows... and even 9th is punching because we have probably about the 15th biggest budget in the league. I feel more confident with Evans playing the coutts role rather than Lundstram - but eventually performances need to start matching results or the season is in dangers of finishing with a whimper.

Fail to see how going up and getting a windfall bonus of 100's of millions of £'s could possible be bad. We don't have to spend it - do what burnley or bournemouth did - be sensible and improve each season. Wilder could be trusted with that money for sure, theres no way he would sign a load of mercenaries on 80k per week plus.
