Every chance in my opinion. My logic is this.- first third of the season, we had players in great form, full of confidence, and things really went for us. We had the rub of the green which was fully deserved as we were positive and aggressive home or away. Our form has dipped a bit recently, but also we suffered from lack of squad depth.
Also we have had zero rub of the green and with just average luck would have beaten Bristol and Villa. Another 6 points would make the situation look very different. We have squad depth now and with Brooks and Evans coming back even more options. We are still playing well enough to go on a run given a fair run of the ball and others could fall away i.e. Bristol, Cardiff, so every chance.

At this precise moment it’s hard to be confident and with everyone around us spendoing HUGE and I don’t necessarily means just fees take Mitrovic to Fulham as an example..

But this club over the past 18 months has proved so many people wrong and shown that money doesn’t mean everything.. we are not going to keep on with this form things will turn, and after today do we only have 3 more games again the current top 6 to play?

I think leonard may play today and maybe against Leeds but after that I can see him being sacrificed for 2 from Duffy,Holmes or Brooks and reverting to Clarke as a lone striker in this instance I think Duffy could miss out as Holmes and Brookes seem more direct..

Moore

Stevens
Stearman
O’Connell
Basham
Baldock

Fleck
Evans

Brooks
Holmes
Clarke

This would cure our current shyness around the 18 yard box

I genuinely think we can win today and if we do, everything is back in play.

I said yes on the basis that after today we will have played the top three twice and we still have Leeds, Cardiff, Boro, and Preston to come to the Lane whist we only have to go to Fulham and Bristol City.

We do need to start getting results at home though.

I see today as a "free hit" and the game starts for real against Leeds next week.

Absolutely Yes - Hopefully a play off final against Wednesday, because that won't be at all nerve wracking......

I've put no, but got slight hopes of making it. As people have mentioned after a good start it was on everyone's mind even if we didn't want it to be, but the villa game at home really hit home for me the difference between us and the top 6 at the moment and I hate to say it a lot of it money based. We outplayed villa for long periods of the game and had we taken our chances or had that player that could cause some thing out of not a lot (ie Snodgrass in his goal) then I think we would comfortable be able to mix in with the top 6. Other teams can laugh at us all they want when we say it but a lot of them are realising like villa did after the match and there fans agreeded that actually we are a very good footballing side and probably one of the best in the division especially on our day but we just don't have that bit of individual special when we really need it our team spirit is unbelievable and we show that by how we pass the ball around but we just miss that bit of special touch or goal. But as mentioned it costs real big money for this and it doesn't always work out look at other side of the city worked for them for a season or 2 but if you don't get promoted you end up stuck in the position they are in. We just need to keep growing as a team and trying to find these little gems and it will pay off eventually look at likes of udders. UTB

Great post Biggey but I'm hoping that Dai Brooksy will provide the little something extra.

I think we’ll finish about 8th, which is terrific to say we’ve just come up and we certainly have one of the smallest playing budgets in the league. You can’t rule out the play offs though. With this group of players and what they’ve already achieved, you just never know.

Voted Yes. Pessimists always say just been realistic - just another slant on I'm a pessimist :)

The point is we have rarely been outplayed and been unlucky in a number of matches - the stats back this up. It's true that over a season luck will even itself out so keep playing as we are and we will make top six.

No . Idiotic JTW buying 2 players we'd identified as needing in the summer yet getting them 6months later . Had we had them, perhaps we wouldn't have slipped off top in November and now be 19 points behind Wolves.

Very unlikely.
The top six today could very well be the top six at the end of the season.

We'll be lucky to make the top half of the league the way things are going.

He look stale and too obvious. We either lob balls up to strikers who aren't exactly dominant in the air or slowly walk it down one wing of the other before losing it/putting a bad cross is from a poor angle. This formation has been brilliant for us but it's simply not working at the moment. We need to try something different or will just slowly slide down the table.

Tonight was a free hit and although demoralising, doesn't effect our postion & the rest of the season. CW needs to call the lads in tomorrow, crack open some beers & get pissed. Forget about the season starts against Leeds on Saturday.

No. We have probably the best manager outside the PL, but our board, despite being fabulously wealthy, and despite being "lifelong Blades" (looking at you Kev) expect him to perform miracles on a zero (relative to the rest of the league) budget. We will finish between 8th and 12th, which is a superb achievement in itself, but far short of where we could have been had our "big blade" co-owner actually put his hand in his pocket and allowed us to compete financially with the front-runners in this division.
