I pushed my cousin in a load of nettles whilst arguing who was better out of Newcastle or us in the mid 90s. Now I’m older I realise he was probably right but I have no regrets and no, I don’t like newcastle.
Did you know ?
Stinging Nettles can be used to treat symptoms of arthritis, and ease gout.

You're welcome.

Not particularly fussed either way about the club, but don't wish anything against them.

As for the city itself, and the people, absolutely brilliant. A proper Northern City, that has to be one of the best nights out in the country. Spent a lot of time up there in my 20s when I was seeing a geordie lass.

Big fan of the North East. Mixed feelings about NUFC because, like many single club cities, they’re often too involved in their own mythology.

When I worked up there for a bit, everyone was a Newcastle fan, but not many I met knew much about wider football.

As football club owners go, I think Ashley has done ok. Put aside the Sports Direct stuff, they’ve always spent a few quid e.g. Joelinton for £40m and he’s backed them to get out of the Championship when they’ve gone down.

The fans just seems to think they should be challenging at the top, so unless the Saudis spend Man City like money, the geordies will start moaning about them as well.

It’s my favourite city in the world after eight amazing years there, including three at uni. Geordies are great people and it’s a brilliant place to live when you’re young.

Don’t like the team though. They have serious delusions as to how good they should be and I like to see them do badly. Oddly my brother supports them too, so I definitely want failure.

No. They make out they’re the best fans in the world. They have one relatively successful club (I.e. normally a PL club) in a big city. They throw money at most of their managers and still are a shithouse team with a shithouse manager.

I like them yeah. Locals were class when we went for piss up pre-Covid.
we had tickets for the away game this season and still went up there on train for a piss up. we also found the locals to be a great bunch. but I do know they are like the deluded normally

Hate the fucking cunts, the boro are the team up there. Remember going there (boro) for years and everyone, mums, dads and kids turn out to fight you...…...wonderful fans! (if anyone remembers know as the smoggies)

NUFC fans are 100% the Wednesdayites of the north east. As others have said Sunderland and Boro fans are a great laugh. Newcastle is a top city though 👍

They played some entertaining football in the 90s and were one of my favourite teams to watch on tv as a kid but ever since then they've had a sense of entitlement despite never coming close since. They're constantly being bigged up in the hope they can rewind the clock to the Keegan years but like the Rumbelows cup, a lot of water has since passed under the bridge.

They've not done anything in any of the cups either for 20 odd years and like Everton and West Ham are also rans that splash the cash but float around mid table every year in the hope that things come good for them. I don't wish them any ill but equally wouldn't like seeing mr potato head holding any silverware aloft

I also had my stag night there and think they are great people but agree with the deluded bit.
Much prefer Sunderland especially since watching the Netflix documentary on them.

Loyal, loud, passionate 1 club city who’s owner has been shitting on em. Great stadium, working class, also those geordie girls are filth. Howay i like them !

I like them as a club but as others have said not been well run since Keegan.

Their transfer strategy must be ‘spend loads of cash on overhyped players and sell them at a loss’

I don’t mind them. I don’t like Mike Ashley, but neither do their fans.

The question in the OP is do you like Newcastle United?
My answer is no!

But as for living up here and the people, for me it's the best place in the world.
Newcastle is a fantastic city with, under normal circumstances, loads happening, fantastic restaurants and theatre.....
We have some of the best coastline and beaches in the country and some beautiful countryside where I live in Northumberland.

Yes granted they come from a one club city. But if you take into account their very underwhelming history, their 50k+ crowds are amazing......and not a ”plastic glory hunter” in sigh.

Had my stag do up in Newcastle, great place for that sort of thing.

Ditto, Jesus. That city is fantastic, but it's heavy going being the stag there 😆

I'm not sure how I feel about them as a club. I think they deserve better in terms of ownership, and how they've been treated. I feel like their fans would currently be a great crack to have a few pints with, but I wonder if they've got an added humility after years of dejection. I don't know why, but I also seem to recall, or believe that if they had things a bit better that'd probably bring about a bit more of insufferable arrogance, like with Leeds.

They are completely up their own arse football wise. They keep coming out with the "Hotbed for football" trope (Oh yeah? where's all the England players that came from your academy?) and see them selves as big as Liverpool and Man Utd. They remind me of Wednesday supporters. Michael Owen had them down as a normal size club but with 50,000 crowd so not a big club as he passed their trophy cabinet in seconds without using his legendary pace. But they keep banging on about how massive they are.
We have some very close friends who are mags and some that are Mackams. The Mackems are decent and a good laugh the Mags just want to go on about how big they are with not a single trophy for over 50 years. I try to avoid footy conversations with the mag friends.
Liking your Michael Owen quote mate. Top sarcasm.
As a club they fill me with ambivalence having tried to strike up a conversation with a couple of fans after they beat us. Seemed unusually miserable but I know two fans don't represent 50,000.
Interesting to see how we deal with Mr Potato head's negative tactics today.
