Well i've just read the "View from" and i've changed my mind. What a set of arrogant bastards. End of chat!
Where are those views lifted from?

Most of the lad I know expected a tough game, mostly predicting a draw or a loss. Maybe, maybe a narrow win.

Personally, delighted with the win as it was unexpected and all but guarantees our survival. Not much was happening for either team until the sending off, which was fair imo. After that we made our extra man count, but you didn't help yourselves with some uncharacteristic defensive mistakes.

What'll happen for you next season? I don't know enough about your owners, or financial situation. Can you take advantage of your good finish this year by bringing in some exceptionally good players? Would Wilder want to stick with the players that got you here?

When we play them at home I always wonder how they manage to do it....

They look too poor to afford a ticket and travel to Sheffield and too pissed to find the ground and be allowed in. Always seem to be in good spirits but it's a no from me.

Song for Steve Bruce.

To the tune of The Adams Family.

Your manager is massive,
The smell out his back package
Is enough to melt a radish
The Bruce family

Basically Scottish. So it's a no from me.

Didn't mind Newcastle before they got Bruce in, now they can fuck right off!

They with us, are the most underchieving club for their size.

Despite being well supported we haven't won a trophy since 1926 isn't it?

They win the Fairs Cup in the 60s or 70s and nothing since.

You then look at the finalists and winners since both of those two dates and it really is quite an effort for both clubs to have not featured for so long!

For that reason I feel a certain kinship with them.

I don't have an issue with Bruce. He's always been grateful that we gave him his start, he always speaks highly of our manager too. He was very dignified at Villa despite the pelters he got in a year where he lost both his parents. Yes he managed Wednesday but did an excellent 'Agent Bruce's job on them pulling the rug on them and now they have an obvious downgrade in Monk. Bullet dodged there for him. Managing his hometown club. GLTTL.

Just another rival club. Did a number on us last season

Pig fans of the north ex wife and father in law were geordies like to hear there own voice and mostly full of shit , good support but who else is up there apart from Sunderland , also don’t like them cause me and mate got chased back to car after we had knocked them out of league cup under Bassett there was about 10 of them hiding in bushes in leazers park 😂😂😂

I don't mind Newcastle, they certainly don't have the arrogance of a similar sized club in West Ham that's for sure....

What did make me laugh when they visited BDTBL was them singing, "they're here, they're there, they're every fuckin where, empty seeeeeeats, empty seeeeeats".....OK, there were 1,716 empty seeeeeats from our official capacity of 32,125 against the attendance of 30,409, however our season average of 30,758 meant our ground was 95.7% full across the season.....the geordie massive only had 86.1% of their ground full on average at 45,036 against a capacity of 52,305......empty seeeeeats, empty seeeeeats*.

disclaimer I know arguing about attendances is usually left to those on Pork Talk but I'm bored...

They've won the FA Cup four times since 1926 plus the Fairs Cup so they're hardly on a par with us as far as winning trophys since 1926 are concerned.

Thing is with Newcastle is there’s hardly anyone else worth supporting in north east other than Sunderland so they have a big catchment area for fans etc plus having one club in their city probably helps but generally never bothered me as a club

Can't stand the fuckers. Haven't been relevant since Shearer and a lot of their fans have that Billy big bollocks massiveitis that affects certain other clubs closer to home.

Also Sports Direct is fucking shit.

But look at their size and what they've won recently. Shocking really.

Last FA cup win 55, Fairs cup in the 60s.

That's 50 years ago with 50k gates!

Yes. Proper fans and football city.

We need more proper northern football teams in the Prem and less faceless passionless teams from London and the south.
Just wondering if Millwall are passionless.
If not what happened, why don't they fit the stereotype??

Some Newcastle Fans are ok some are not.i was walking toward the bottom of the moor in 1990. this big Georgie came towards me.he said not many people wearing red and white shirts. in Newcastle you would see thousands of black and white striped shirts.he also said we average 40,000.so more football fans in Newcastle.than you have in Sheffield.he was ok not looking for trouble. I told him two Clubs in Sheffield. we averaged just under 29.000. and Wendy averages is the same.58,000.
He said blimey I did not think about that.i said there you go, fella, you learn something every day and he walked away. I bet the went home unhappy we licked em 2-0.and they were shit.

I used to work up there a bit. Strange place. One city clubs are often a bit weird and Newcastle was very much all about the toon army. The abuse they give to Sunderland is a bit embarrassing. They tend to think they're a lot better than they are.

In a word. No. I probably should because they have passion and loyalty and they have remained true to their working class roots and haven't sold their soul to the corporate middle class tosspots like some have. But alas... I can't get past their self entitled pomposity... Their unbelievable sense of status and oh yeah.... Mike fucking Ashley.... A cockwomble supreme.

I liked them for 10 minutes after they raped the pigs 9-0. then no.

A bit harsh that IIRC, it wasn't even a full strength Geordie team, but hilariously they made complete idiots of the S6 shower.

We had a good drink with their lads in a 50/50 Blade/Gepordie pub in Sale in 1998 so I had a bit of time for them,. Trouble is that all the above posts about self entitled wankers do ring true, so on balance it's a 'no'.

Don’t mind them tbh. There’s plenty of fans in the Premier League who are far more obnoxious arseholes than the Geordies.

They love their club, loyal and support in numbers. No airs and graces like the London and other clubs and considering the attendances over the years I’m not surprised they expect a reasonable amount of success.

I liken them to us to an extent though they have nowhere near the suffering we’ve had considering what we in turn could reasonably expect given the size of our own fanbase and (ancient) history of our club.

There is no other comparable club to us that’s gone through what we have and held onto the level of support we have, but Newcastle fans deserve some respect, certainly far more than plenty of others.

They’re the Leeds of the North East. One club city with a massive catchment area and delusions of grandeur despite being largely irrelevant for the past 20 or so years.

Also, like Leeds, their fans go missing when times get shit, contrary to popular belief.

Prior to Keegan taking over they were getting 16,000 gates in the 2nd Division.
Our best friends are from Gateshead, born and bred, but on our travels they always tell
everyone they're from Newcastle. Its like Rotherham folk saying they're from Sheffield
(highly unlikely!).
Geordies seem to think the City is the centre of the Universe which I find somewhat annoying.

Me Dad told me he went to Newcastle away sometime in the 70s. He met some Geordie mates beforehand and went on the piss. He said he had a great craic, and ended up stood on whatever Newcastle’s version of the Kop is. United scored and being pissed up he couldn’t help but celebrate. His celebrations lasted a few seconds, when he noticed something behind him. He realized someone was taking a piss in his coat pocket. Surrounded by annoyed Geordiee, he said he had to just stand there while this guy finished his piss. I don’t remember what he said about the result. Anyway, I love the story, so I’ll always have a bit of a soft spot for them.

Hope they go down this year, though.

I lived in North Yorkshire as a child and my friends were all boro, Sunderland or Newcastle. Believe me they are an arrogant lot with a misplaced sense of importance and delusions of grandeur. This was epitomised the season we were promoted and they finished 3rd only to beaten by the mackems in the play offs. Their fans’ sense of entitlement reminds me of Wednesday.
By comparison Sunderland fans are self effacing and funny; they don’t take themselves too seriously even when they were a solid PL team. True my best childhood friends are all mackems and we still look out for each other’s results but they’re very similar to us imo.
I’ve had some great days at Tyne - Wear derbies second only to our own. As my mates say FTM.

I know a Boro fan who says the same on Newcastle fans and to a lesser extent also Sunderland, but both are huge football clubs in fairness. I told my mate that it also reminded me of Wednesday fans but the difference is Newcastle and Sunderland are big clubs who regularly get 45,000 and above, Wednesday do not and have won very little also.

Personally I prefer Sunderland over Newcastle, but on a stag do in Newcastle I have to say I was very impressed by Newcastle, really good night out and genuine people.
