I have no affection for any football team other than the Blades. None. Not even England - well...o.k. if they are playing in a competitive match with something at stake I'll want them to win, but I don't get in the remotest bit excited about it.
Newcastle United. Big club. Great following. Proud history. Done nowt for years.
Geordies: Nice down to earth, working class folks. Always made me feel welcome when I've been up there. Very friendly.
Newcastle City: Lively place. Decent range of shops and places to eat. Great nightlife. On the border of some lovely countryside.
Any old farts on here remember "Tuxedo Junction" nightclub in Newcastle? That was a great place back in the day. Every table in the club had a telephone on it and a seating plan, showing the telephone number of all the other tables. If you saw a bird you fancied you could just look up the table number she was sat on and give her a call and ask to come up to dance. Saved a lot of dancing around the handbag on the dance floor and slowly moving in on her. Of course, there'd be a few girls on each table and the wrong one might pick up the phone, then it would be a case of, "Hiya, can you put yer mate on - her in that yellow top? What's her name? eh? Lindsey, oreight, put Lindsey on for us...". Hiya Lindsey, I'm sat on table 12 - straight ahead of you - look I'm waving..."coo-eee! I just wondered if you fancied a dan..."
