Personally, i have a lot of time for the Geordies. Seems like they have had a rough deal over the last few years but for some reason have never really kicked off. I can't think of us really having an owner or chairman anywhere near as bad as Ashley. I think that our supporters would have bashed the walls down to get a twat like him out of our club but the Newcastle fans seem to have reluctantly put up with him. Yes there has been protests but nothing of the like of Charlton or Coventry fans over the last few seasons.

As a club they come across as so near yet so far with huge support that deserved more. The fans show great humour and of loads of games that i have been at, have only seen trouble once and that was in the 60s when hooliganism was rife. Top club with top fans.
 



Yes, good honest city & supporters. I have a lot of time for them.
 
Very nice people the Geordie's, and a wonderful city, but when it comes to football they become like the majority of the prem Billy big Bolloxs and don't understand that 50.000 people doesn't guarantee success. They hire a manager with a so called name who brings players in what nobody's ever seen or heard of as long as he's french😂
 
I used to like them a lot more than I do now. I was offered schoolboy terms with them when I was 11 but the distance was a problem for me, but since then have had a soft spot for them that the current manager has eradicated.

Always makes me cringe at the memory of the Geordies monkey noising at Agana and Deane in 1990.
There must have been a big wake up call at some point, most of their team are black and have been for years now.
 
I lived in North Yorkshire as a child and my friends were all boro, Sunderland or Newcastle. Believe me they are an arrogant lot with a misplaced sense of importance and delusions of grandeur. This was epitomised the season we were promoted and they finished 3rd only to beaten by the mackems in the play offs. Their fans’ sense of entitlement reminds me of Wednesday.
By comparison Sunderland fans are self effacing and funny; they don’t take themselves too seriously even when they were a solid PL team. True my best childhood friends are all mackems and we still look out for each other’s results but they’re very similar to us imo.
I’ve had some great days at Tyne - Wear derbies second only to our own. As my mates say FTM.
 
Spent my early 20s living in Newcastle & still have many friends there. Great little city, friendly people & lots to do for young people - bars, shops etc.

Great Northern club. Been badly run pretty much since the end of the Keegan era. Surprising they haven't really won much of note in the last 50 years.

I would rather they were in the PL than no mark teams such as Bournemouth.
 
They are completely up their own arse football wise. They keep coming out with the "Hotbed for football" trope (Oh yeah? where's all the England players that came from your academy?) and see them selves as big as Liverpool and Man Utd. They remind me of Wednesday supporters. Michael Owen had them down as a normal size club but with 50,000 crowd so not a big club as he passed their trophy cabinet in seconds without using his legendary pace. But they keep banging on about how massive they are.
We have some very close friends who are mags and some that are Mackams. The Mackems are decent and a good laugh the Mags just want to go on about how big they are with not a single trophy for over 50 years. I try to avoid footy conversations with the mag friends.

I lived there for 4 years and this is pretty much my view. Great city , but I find Geordies often have a slightly overblown opinion of themselves and their club. Most times I offered up who I supported they couldn't be less interested as we weren't in their perceived elite group. Mackems and Boro much more self effacing and usually better company.

Similar deluded sets of fans - SWFC and Rangers.
 
I think they're becoming like Sunderland, completely irrelevant.

Ground size does not really have a significant impact on income anymore, before, that is all that was the foundation for sides like Newcastle/Sunderland to claim they were 'big clubs'.
 
When we played them in the FA cup semi at Old Trafford it was at the time when " The Full Monty" was taking the country by storm . As me and a group of Blades approached the ground , a group of Geordies on the other side of the road pointed at us and started singing " Sing when yer stripping / you only sing when yer stripping ....."

Liked them ever since . :)
 
Have not really given them much of a thought since Keegan‘s heyday.

When the Tyne Weir derby was on TV I used to prefer Sunderland to win.
 
Not a club I particularly look out for but love the city and location of ground. Great place to visit.
 
Used to like them a lot in the 90s. A lot less so since Mike Ashley was there. Their latest generation of internet warriors are a weird fucking lot too.

Love visiting there, mind. Great city - the centre is a lovely place to spend a weekend. Sheffield should take note.
 
I don’t like Newcastle as a club! When I moved up here in 94 I found so many of the fans arrogant and they viewed the Blades as irrelevant. Even now if you talk to a mag who knows you’re a Blade I can guarantee they’ll tell you about how many times they’ve been to Hillsborough. I took a liking to Sunderland as their fans were more like us. To be fair most are slightly less arrogant now but they still think it’s their god-given right to win something.
The club treated Bobby Robson poorly, sacked him for finishing 4th because of player power when he possibly would have resigned gracefully. Now he’s lauded as the hero he should have been recognised as back then and there’s a statue at SJP
Yes they are a big club now in terms of fan-base but pre-Keegan their attendances were lower than ours. When you consider the club is not only the only one in the city but they have a huge catchment area. Half the people I know who live in Co Durham are mags. Travel west and there is no club until Carlisle. Travel north and there is no other club in the English leagues.
Hope we bloody win tomorrow!

Mike McDonald was worse than Mike Ashley is.

That’s not an opinion, it’s fact, and it’s not even close!

Turns a profit over for them every year ;)

I always think of the Geordies as a bit too cocky and arrogant for my liking and a bit cliched, hot bed of football and all that b***ocks. Got more time for the Mackems down the road, seem a lot more down to earth.
 
Dont like Newcastle. Spent Millions. Won Nowt. Nuff said.
