Sheffield United have been named the best dining experience in the Championship by fellow football club directors.

The Blades won the Directors Choice for Dining at the 2009 Football Hospitality Awards, staged at Chelsea's Stamford Bridge stadium in London.

United came out on top in the category which is voted for by the board of directors from each Championship club to visit Bramall Lane during the 2008/09 season.

At the awards United were also short-listed for two additional categories, including Matchday dining in the Platinum Suite and the marketing of its conference and banqueting facilities.

Simon Argall, operations director at Sheffield United, said: "To be recognised by fellow Championship clubs is a great achievement.
"It is a clear recognition of the hard work put in by all the staff on a consistent basis during the whole of the season.

It is also an indication of the high-level of food the club provides not only on matchdays but throughout our entire conference and banqueting services. "Thank you to everyone for their support in gaining this accolade."

United were named as runners-up for the Directors Choice for Dining award in 2007.
