The director of football is answerable to the board but there to assist the manager. He's experienced in football and there to help the board members who don't have that experience.
A bit like a buffer between the two.
The manager is generally left to look after the players, teamwork, tactics, fitness, picking the team etc... but also with advise (but not demands) from the DOF.
Director of football is usually responsible for the budgets and making sure they are adhered to. Both at a first team and youth/academy level.
Hi All
Robbo as Director of Football means no pay out and he can't go and get another job on a big wage and be getting paid twice. I think!!!
The general idea is that the director of football looks after the budget, and allocates money for transfers and the youth academy which leaves the manager to look after the day to day running of the club, the picking of the team, and the decisions about tactics and training.
