Diego Recalled

We either play him in the first team now or he leaves for nothing in the summer. Unbelievable that we have a player so talented going to waste.

Without wishing to cause any argumemts on here, I would have Diego in place of Scougall, as Diego will score more goals. I don't dislike Scougall, but think Diego brings more to the table. Feel sorry for York in a way, I know football is a cut throat business these days, but I always imagine teams like York being a throwback to how things used to be, before big money ruined the game for a lot of clubs.

Yes he is out of contract at the end of the year, and can be approached by other clubs in January, to sign a precontract.
If it's an English club we would be entitled to Compo, but if is a Foreign club (Italian perhaps?) then we get nothing. Give him game time over the next few weeks in the hope we can get him to sign a new deal, or face losing him for nothing.

I can see him leaving for Itay at the end of the season for nothing.
unless there is a dramatic turn around (by jan) in his career here, I think he will just leave for another crack elsewere.

There are a few for players I have watched in the youth set up over the years, that I had that gut feeling they could make a step up. Maguire was the stand out of his generation, with Kyle McFadzean, Matty Harriott also looking good. Didn't work out for Matty of course. Connor Dimaio, Lewis Reed, Otis Khan all look good, but it is/was Diego that stood out for me, he has that something extra. It will be a crime if he walks away in Summer and we did nothing to stop him.

I thought youngsters couldn't just leave on a free like that under 24?

Also, Clough has now told Radio Sheffield that he is likely to go back out on loan...

is he better than porter? YES
is he a better striker than baxter? Probably
Can he find the back of the net? Yes
Will he get a chance in the team? No

Or;

Is he better than Porter? At what exactly? (genuine question) He's probably more skilful but Porter has experience at leading a line and can play the lone forward role better than Diego I'd imagine.

Is he a better striker than Baxter? Probably not at this moment otherwise I doubt we'd have sent him out on loan.

Reality is he's a young kid who's played about 6 first team games, 4 of them at a lower level. I'd be very surprised if he was a better option than Baxter or Porter at the moment. Having said that I don't think it'd do us harm to see what he's got by giving him a run out today but then you'd have to imagine the management and coaching staff have a better idea than us already.

fair reply but a striker his main job is to score goals 4 in 8 for italy youth and 3 in 4 for york granted porter has him on experience but who would you feel more confident of scoring up top for us in a game.

If Diego is any good, we'll be selling him soon enough. Best not to get too emotionally attached. Lou Reed will also head off to a middling Premier League team as soon as someone waves a few quid. Carry on regardless.

Think he'll get more game time now mcnulty's apparently had his jaw broke in Edinburgh last week on a night out!

So he was recalled only to start on the bench in a cup game where we had no other viable options due to injury. Given that his contract runs out at the end of the season and Clough doesn't fancy him, he might as well release him on a free. Keeping him is just delaying the inevitable. Give the lad a chance FFS.

Mr Clough , Mr Clough brother does not like Diego , Mc Nuts . They are not the right character for Mr Clough . We supporters better get used to it.

Basham was the MOTM for me today .

Chris Porter over to you.

I'm other news, the local newspaper reporter from York has been headhunted by the Sheffield Star. They think he'll fit right in.

If he'll fit right in at the Wedn**day Star, he must either be a PIG or be absolutely incompetent and completely unable to carry out a professional piece of journalism ......

Unbelievable?

That situation is hardly surprising for us.

"Its the Blades way" ..... to quote a certain big Blade with deep pockets, short arms and a knack of picking garbage managers .... ( with the exception of the incumbent )

Sunderland were scouting him at York apparently.

Prepare yourselves for; we couldn't stand in the way of an ambitious young players career and the offer of ten bob, two shiny buttons and a friendly match represents great business for the Club ........
Its the blades way!

Had his chance today and I was dissappointed. Thought his movement was poor and his dive within 5 minutes of comin on was embarrassing.

He made a couple of first touches but he isn't that quick. If we are going to giv ehim a go he needs to play behind a striker I reckon. Porter and DG on Wednesday ?

Thought Murphy just shaded Basham to be honest.

As for NC not 'liking' players, why do fans make up this rubbish. He may be wrong in some fans' opinion if a player isn't selected but it doesn't mean he doesn't like them

Contract up this summer

Have to ask whether he will be sold this Jan or wait for compo as I can't see him hanging around BL much longer

Only the Daily Star, but as mentioned above, Sunderland have been watching him at York and we know of interest from Italy before his serious injury, well that seems to have resurfaced with Juve, Roma and Napoli all supposedly after him

All I'll say on this one is that players need a run of games...Murphy was shite at the start of this season, now he's ticking along nicely...Diego was sent out on loan to get games, which he did and did well ( apparently ) he should have started these two cup games like the young un's for Crewe did.

I hope he starts against Walsall and in the replay.

UTB!
