Dammit..... I was doing so wellYou have been rumbled Mr McCabe.
This has to be the flakiest excuse to knock Utd yet ,what depths are we actually going to plummet to ?
Maybe McCabe has spent all his money on Peruvian prostitutes so we cant buy a striker
Maybe Clough has a clause where he must win without playing a striker
Maybe Baxter has been shagging McCabes in laws
Maybe Collins has had a 3some with Butler and Long
Maybe posters on here are finding ridiculous ways of slagging their own club off ?
Maybe only one of these is true.
Bladesway is correct . What i cannot understand is that all the hype about the player has not come out of the club ., Even before his injury ( which was a bad one ) , he did not show the promise of being one of Europe's most talented youngsters , as reported in the press . Even La Gazzetta Dello Sport run a article on him .
He has been rated along side Lewis Holtby of Schalke (at the time ) due to Germany / England choice of national country. There is definitely a novelty factor in here somewhere , with his father , agent all believing , and buying in to the free publicity and PR. I hope he does make it with the Blades , but Mr Clough seems to have a eye for a young player , and is playing slowly slowly catch a monkey with him. The kid is only young and would be better off learning his trade at the Lane . Unfortunately he will go for the money , as many teams can afford to take a punt on him , and not feel the hurt if he doesn't make it.
Jordon Slew and many others come into mind .
Mr Clough was a forward / Striker . The young man could learn a lot . It is whether or not he wants to learn or thinks ( as his advisors ) he is already there.
Good luck to the lad.

To be honest i dont follow diegos career close enough tp know if he was injured or not i assumed it was didnt realise he had been out so longBut you're the one who said there were 'strong rumours' about them falling out before his injury. Don't think he's had any others since the major one under Wilson so that can't be right.

There's never been a fallout with clough and diego it's just rumours
There's never been a fallout but i think it's fair to say he's not Cloughy's sort of player. There's never been a fallout with clough and diego it's just rumours

If Clough liked him he would play him,it really is that simple and that's why i put it's fair to say he isn't.Bryson, Hughes, Hendrick, Martin, Buxton, Reed..all brought in, given a chance or developed by Nigel. All different players, all with a quality that would fit, or do fit, straight into our team. Some cheap, some academy, some more expensive, all Clough "type" players.
From what I see, a Clough type player, is one who is professional in attitude and conduct and has the skill needed to honour the badge.
Which one is Diego? Billy big bollocks, jaw-breaking party goer, or professional footballer? Reckon it is up to him to decide. Buckle down, work hard and prove you are worthy of a first 11 Blades Shirt.
We will see mate,we will see.I for one hope you're right but i do have my doubts.Ah, but he has played him!
He will play him again.
He also sent him away to play first team football and come back fit and sharp.
He also said he thought he might sneak a goal in the Crewe game. That suggests Clough rates him. At least enough to score in this division.
I suggest he is nursing and shaping a talent. A talent that had a major injury. Things in life are rarely as simple as they seem.
The thing with Diego is that he will be way back in the pecking order, especially when everyone's fit,and also Nige doesn't like to play strikers that often,if at all atm.I hope so too Wizadry, for everyone involved.
We can't deny though, that Nigel does have a track record of bringing talent through, should it warrant it.
I just worry that the expectations of this year may stifle that kind of experiment in talent. If like The Manure manager, he had three years, we might see the risk taken more readily.
He'll be off if he's got any sense, why play in division 3 if clubs in higher/better divisions want you. This board have zero ambition and we won't get out this division without proper support for Clough. I believe NC is the man to take us forward and bring someone like Diego on but he has no chance without full backing.
