He must have impressed clough enough with his efforts in pre-season training to gain a starting place v Burton, albeit we fielded 22 players,or did he start (not wanting to sound negative) because Mcnulty was out. Either way sounds like he produced a decent display. Putting his car and his antics to one side, let's hope he kicks on now and gains at least a regular spot on the bench to give us more options up front.

UTB

If we are to wait until the season has started and the window is coming to a close to get that elusive striker then Diego (and McNulty for that matter) will have plenty of chance to change minds about the need for a new face.

With just 3 other strikers on the books, you'd think he'll at least get JPT & League Cup minutes and then its over to him to prove himself among the grown ups.

I still can't believe his name "YR63 XXX*" was available! :)

Astounding! Lucky his name perfectly fits the registration system. Did it come wrapped in cotton wool, I wonder?

Apparently JL94x4 has one as well, which matches his name perfectly - allegedly ;)

Really? I got the impression that about half on here thought he was all exotic name and no substance except cotton wool.

I think you will find that about half thought he was a young prospect that the manager will play when he feels right. Does anyone really think any manager holds a player back if he thinks he is good enough? The only reason he hasn't got starts is because (I assume) he has come back from a terrible injury and isn't quite ready yet. Hopefully (and I am guessing everyone wants this) with a full pre-season under his belt and another year wiser he is ready. If that is the case Clough will doubtlessly put him in and he will hopefully prove himself.

My hope is he fulfills his potential but so many players don't you fear that the expectation could overtake him. Anyone remember Wayne Quinn (England U21) Lee Morris, David Frain, Jonathan Forte? All looked fantastic and had big build ups, all fell by the wayside. I hope this guy gets tied into a 5 year contract and is every bit the world beater we all want him to be. He plays for us so doubtless everyone is behind him.

Oh and I ommitted Tyrone Thompson.

No they didn't,they thought because nige wasn't playing him,he must surely not be good enough.I am not going to go over the posts to prove it,you can if you want, but trust me to save your time they thought he can't be good enough just because cloughy didn't play him.I'm not saying you thought this by the way as i have just read your post, and the names you mention could have been some players if it wasn't for injuries or other circumstances.

Could be a big year for the lad if he gets his brain and arse in gear - Unfortunately football is riddled with Billy Bigboots who think they can do as they please and will become millionaires overnight.
He has undoubted talent - Go out there and show everyone then we may put up with one or two over the top reactions !
I am sure Mr Clough will get the boy sorted !

Saving him for Dundee on Friday!
Hopefully! Can't help but think about what Clough said about Maguire after the last match, that 'if a deal was on the table he wouldn't have been involved'.
And that on the OS there are reasons why everybody else (Flynn McNulty etc) aren't involved... Not a single mention of Diego though.

Cloughie has told him to get some factor 50 on. The sun's rays still burn through those clouds you know :D

I heard he told Cloughie that he wanted to buy some golf equipment. Nige said are you telling me you're looking for a new club?
