If it’s your Mum Vero Gusto off Fargate is very good but in my view overpriced. Deli cafe at bottom opposite Crucible is sound too and the road has the United plaque on the wall.

Now that yankees has closed Sheffield has lost its bright star! Ashoka is ok but over tarted up nowadays.

The new Wetherspoons at St Pancras has opened, so maybe fill her up there and let’s her snooze in first class on the way up with your money saved??

Has Vero Gusto changed hands yet?

Travel early first class, decent free breakfast.

Appreciate I'm a different demographic, but can't imagine ever making it part of my matchday routine, as much as we've had some great food there :D

I think it’s very good. Didn’t know it was changing hands? It’s expensive though for what it is.

Armando’s in Belper is very good - not that this helps much!

It was put up for sale a while ago. They also trimmed down the mains menu. It is expensive and you can eat at top Italian restaurants in London for less.

Whereabouts is this? In the station?

Yes, opposite the escalators for the Kent high speed service. Where top Marks’ was before it moved. Just near the Parcel Yard entrance in Kings Cross.

Sadly, not on a weekend when one Is restricted to the coffee, snacks and juices from the trolley. And not a patch on First Class out of Euston with Virgin. 90 minutes pre train food and drink in the lounge and then unlimited wine and decent food on the journey. Makes it more preferable than flying if heading to Glasgee.

Completely agree it’s not my choice of pre match warm up either, but with me Mum in tow I don’t get the choice! Went the night before the Swansea game with the in laws and had a great fillet steak but just not worth the £28 for that alone. As Mr Thornton says you can eat far better for far less. Sheffield, in my view, isn’t blessed sadly, with great restaurants, hence my pre match tends to focus on what it does well, ale, boozers and chip butties. And those in my view are firmly at the world class level !

Sheffield to St P early Saturday morning is a free breakfast in first class.

Excellent news! I can't believe I've not spotted it before, as I'd exit the northern line via the stairs/escaltor right next to there, when I'm down.

Kurdistan bakery on london road is very good. Pizza in the crem is also good.

Brilliant, cheers for all the recommendations. Knowing me mum, Harland Cafe looks like a winner. Cheers for all the others mentioned though - definitely handy to have a load of options to choose from!

Would imagine it’s packed on match day as it’s only 30 yards from Bramall Lane. More choice a bit further out I would have thought

In be heading to SMOKE BBQ in to town, it's only 10mins to the lane;)

Heard the mexican on there was voted one of best in u.k,(might be amigos that others have said). Also the clubhouse is rated high on tripadvisor.

If your in car then there’s some terrific places further down on abbey dale road

That Mexican is probably El Paso at the bottom of the Moor. Amigos is more of a quick food place, whereas El Paso is a proper restaurant.

Cheers for the St Pancras Spoons tip, taking Eurostar in a couple of days so that'll come in handy

Yes El Paso is great. And no it was in star last year and place was on London road

Moor Fisheries for me. Cant beat it for value. Fish Chips Peas/beans Tea/Coffee bread and butter for under six quid.

If you like spicy food, and don’t mind a walk, there’s a great place where Queens Road meets London Road. Just a bit up from Boots Opticians and past the TV Shop. Not the kebab place but a proper Asian deli next door. I have had lovely Asian breakfast and stuffed parathas there in the morning. Don’t expect quick service though, it’s just two women cooking it all in a pan on the stove.

Great food and a good price.
