No, didn't defend any worse than others. Think he's receiving too much criticism.
Thought O'Connell was the best defender. Really want the lad to succeed and it might take a while for him to settle in but after seeing him all pre season home and away, Bolton and last night I've seen very little that's supposed to make him one of the best full backs in this division. Fingers crossed that will change soon.

Mc Cave is also the one that pays off pkayers that managers have signed. I know of one definite panic buy he had to pay off....so he may well have paid off other contracts too.

If players aim to believe in the self-fulfilling prophecy, i'd like to believe that the Manager can see what is happening and act accordingly.

If they want the applause, the adulation, the support. the players must also accept that they will receive the opposite reactions too.

In the line of work I specialised in, folks were surprised when I didn't shower praise and thanks on them, for doing a job they got paid to do.

A little observation too, if the players who are reading this forum, get a little bit upset, feel hard done by, TOUGH.
If you're NOT happy with the lifestyle you chose and the "job" you're in, do me a favour and move on.

He looked lost at times defensively.

Shielded the ball out of play well. Remember him tracking back from a corner and stopping what could of been a very dangerous counter-attack.
Sure he had a few dodgy moments but who didn't in that back line?

I thought that Duffy was by far the best player on the pitch for the first 60mins until he tired.

In fact, I thought that the worst outfield players during the first half were the 3 left over from last season.

Wilder has definitely improved the squad but they need to gel and learn how to finish.

Replace Done, Basham and DCL with quality and bring in a backup keeper and CB and we will be sorted.

Shit night that was though.

very similar to the conversation we had last night, personally thought Fleck was the better player...Hussey is poor at defending so question marks over him but Done & Bash, oh deary me

Lenners would have been proud of that opening post ghandi! 27 words and the fish are biting like mackerel off Whitby pier on owt shiny. Cracking efficiency. If only the new signings made such an impact!? ;) Barney is not fit to lace your boots.

The irony is that it has actually led to some interesting and sensible debate!

You have to hand it to Tufty has done a great job in getting rid of most of the deadwood problem is he's replaced it with traffic cones.
I remember you telling me on the way back from the Norwich game in December 2007 that Bryan Robson is a good manager. You still think he is good?

Too early to judge properly, but there has to be question marks around Hussey.

The question marks around Hussey are exactly the same as the ones regarding Brayford .

Both players only really have Duffy to link up with . Duffy is the one having to cover both wings as Done is virtually non existent . Done is NOT and never will be a wideman/winger .

It's all about opinions, and where you sit in the ground means you see things differently. Of the three substitutions last night, I thought Scougall and DCL were poor, too lightweight. McNulty should have taken the keeper on twice and not looked to be a team player and pass the ball. The bloke in front of me turned round, after DCL missed the sitter, and said "do you think Jamie Vardy would have been looking to pass in a similar situation?"

I'm sure we've all worked for company's where the top management are total dickheads who haven't got a clue
And I'm sure that all of us were at our least productive when working for such people

All it takes is 5 minutes for every player and manager we sign to think "Why the fuck have I come here so I can listen to this shit"

Nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing will happen at this club until every single one of the current board members has gone and taken their miserable third rate methods of running a football club with them.

And unfortunately the only way to get them out is to stop going, simple as that.

But will you stop posting on here as well?

McNulty was right to pass, it's not his fault DCL couldn't score a sitter.

You are of course correct Sheffielder. Such abuse must have a negative impact on any player who reads it. There may come a point where a player thinks ok,
Why should I bust a gut playing when all I get is dogs abuse? On he other hand a bit of praise could alter the mind set in our favour
You slide further on grease than gravel. Key board warriors, if you could do better give C W a call, he would be delighted to see how you go.
Get behind all the lads, they are playing a higher standard of football than I ever could and no doubt they are doing their best
Let's be fair, the players, who were dumped out of the first round of a poxy cup, by a poxy club, did not get any abuse. The pelted being given, some unfair, are online.

They lost because they, once again, weren't good enough.

This myth that the worst period in the club's history is in any way linked to the fans needs killing.

There was again zero return for the fans, and the usual fat pay packets for the players.

We lost because the players were not got enough, once again.

UTB

Don't agree pal, but we won't fall out about it. McNutz is a decent finisher and should have been selfish and greedy in that situation. If Clarke or Sharp were passing options, then yes pass, but DCL was a risk, unproven.

I think so too, can't believe folk are seemingly writing off some of our signings so soon.

Who's writing them off Reedy ?. Comments are based on what's been seen so far, apart from Fleck, none of them has stood out for me so far, early days though, no reason to think they can't improve given time.

But will you stop posting on here as well?

I'm sorry, did I say something negative about your preshy weshy Sheffield United

Regardless of what we all think pal this is the worst run football club on planet Earth (pro rata)
It's shit supporting them and I'm not naïve enough to believe if I could have my time again knowing what I know now I would have still supported them regardless.

Complete and absolutely utterly fucking shit football club that has wasted the time of hundreds of thousands of people, one generation after another.

The bad news is that we probably only have another one or two generations of being considered a reasonably decent football club before we sink into total oblivion

But as long as were still in business eh ?

After two games in, a patchy start with glimpses of some promises, bilge being posted like this amazes me.

Nothing to do with my entire life supporting them I suppose, just the last two games.

It's like watching an old dying relative, you want them to live on but because of their suffering you also hope you wake up in the armchair and find that they've slipped away in their sleep.
At least with an old dying relative you can reminisce about the good times, the times when they were fit, the times when they were happy, the times when they were strong and the time that they achieved something.

Unlike what we'll be left with when United die

Can I recommend Barcelona FC for you? I think you would be a little happier supporting them and there would be far less angst and anger. Incidentally, I do believe that Portsmouth, Port Vale, Notts County and at one stage Newcastle were the worst run football clubs on Planet Earth and I am excluding from that various Spanish, Italian and Chinese clubs found guilty of various "frauds"that affected their status and whoa there cowboy do I see Glasgow Rangers galloping over the hill as the shining light of all that should encompass how a club should be run? Bugger me, at least we haven't been demoted to the bottom league!

Incidentally, how do I pro rata planet Earth and/or its football clubs?
