Thanks for that pal. I'm cold and unemotional as a norm apart from when I'm with my grandkids but that got me quite emotional. He was a great player and quite elegant on the ball, he would have graced, in my opinion, the early seventies team but I seem to recall he broke his leg and was never the same player

A few years ago when the club had a reunion of the promotion squad the club said the only two players they couldnt locate were John Tudor and Dave Powell. 5 mins on the internet and I`d found Tudor in the states and half an hour on Cardiffs Bluebirds Fans forums had a contact number for Powell. It was stated he lived a quiet life and was on two sticks for walking but would be happy to be contacted by the club. Passed the info to the club via Rooks who said Pack? the then press officer was going to chase it up. Very dissapointing to get PM s from Cardiff fans months later saying Powell had never heard anything from anyone connected to the Blades.

Very sad news. DP was an excellent footballer and although did not play a lot of games for us he certainly impressed when he did. A tenacious tackler and winner of the ball, he was very athletic and a box to box footballer who enriched our team.
As said above he had an accident and never fully recovered but is still remembered in this house.

Played over 100 games for us.

My favourite defender from when I started following the Blades until his injury at QPR
I thought of you, Silent, when I heard this sad news. I knew he was one of your favourites. I guess we are both of the age where the heroes of our youth are passing away at an all too often frequency.
R.I.P. Dave.

Sad news indeed, great player for us. I think I remember it being discussed that he became a police officer and was on duty at one of our games at Cardiff and was lauded by our fans during the game.

Very sad news, when I started watching the Blades DP was my second favourite player after TC. I usually took more notice of attacking players, but after watching Bobby Moore a few times I gained an appreciation of defensive play, & David Powell was also superb to watch. His positional play was 1st class, would often tackle an opponent cleanly without going to ground. Coupled with great anticipation, he was also pretty quick, & although not the tallest he was also very good in the air, with a great spring.
RIP DP.
