Player Suggestion David Brooks

Anyone saying he's worth £30m + needs to look at comparable transfers from championship sides this season. Eze went for £16m, he's a year younger than brooks and arguably better. I know ita subjective in terms of contract length and the selling club needing money but its a benchmark and half the value people are expecting Brooks to cost. Plus we get 15% off.

Not that I think we'll buy him. I think we're after a LCB

Whilst I'm not going to completely pull your post to bits as the 2 players on the face of it are probably a decent comparison due to where would probably be their "optimum" position I feel you are missing some quite big points.

Brooks had a decent amount of playing time in his 1st season at Mouth and by all accounts excelled to the point that the big guns, Man U/Liverpool etc, were seriously considering parting with the best part of £50m for him. He then got injured and, again by all accounts, had his recovery seriously fucked up by Mouth's medical team ensuring his injury lasted far longer than it should have.

Contrast this to Eze who has never played in The Prem and was a stand out for a very sub standard QPR team.

Now I actually rate Eze very highly and think at £15m Palace have got themselves a cracking deal but I'm not quite sure he should be the benchmark you are setting Brooks' value at TBH.

Injury free Brooks is worth £30m plus of anyone's money due to his performances in the league we currently find ourselves in. It's up to our owners and medical team to decide whether he's worth that figure and look at the overall cost of a deal taking into account money still owed, sell on fee saved etc.

I'm very much on the fence as to whether it would be a deal we should be going after as I'm not sure it's worth it without a formation change (see my previous posts) however if the owners decide to finance it and it's not at the expense of another more needed position (only LCB falls into this) then why not???

I truly believe as a fan base we need to get away from the opinion on the cost of certain transfers. We obviously have a budget and CW to an extent is in control of that budget so it's not really our concern if we think it's overpriced etc.

Brooks plays v England on Thursday night. Shop window for him not what we need (if we're actually trying to get him)! Possible he might just warm the bench I guess.

They are the sort of club with fans that would talk about their business model.
Step 1: Languish for years in the lower reaches of the football league
Step 2: Get bought out by Russian billionaire
Step 3: Massively overspend to get promotion to the Premier League, nearly sidestepping the P&L rules

Pretty sure they did sidestep the financial rules. Got a ridiculously small fine after they got the Premier League money.

Assuming this is true and assuming the £5m loan fee is deductible from the final fee; I think the total cost to us would just shy of £25m.

Bring him home.
If he's fit he has the X-factor needed to open up defences and score a few.
Longer-term, if we managed to scrape up, a replacement for Didzy.
