Outgoing? David Brooks

£10m would be ridiculous - even by our recent standards. £20m minimum plus % of future sales + season long loan back to us.
 

Lose Wilder, lose Brooks.

It could be that simple and based on our ability to choose managers it could put us back a decade. Wilder will not want to sell him. It's one thing to not give huge funds for recruitment. Quite another to start removing pieces of the jigsaw.

Just like Fulham have refused to entertain bids for Sessignan, if United have aspirations to be higher up, we are not going to get there by selling the key pieces of the jigsaw.

He hasn't even been involved long enough to nail down a spot in the starting XI yet.

Say he goes to Spurs. What awaits? Being sent out on loans for a couple of years.

It would be the wrong move for him and us. His value will only increase. He's under contract and needs regular football.

I'd hate another sell and loan back option. Why let his value appreciate for someone else? He can be the difference this season or next in being a contender or not.

We better either get a great deal or get a reasonable amount out of him on the pitch before he leaves. Ideally both. No excuses.

If we sell for about £10m having barely given him 10 league starts then that would be pitiful and someone wants fucking.

Surely we have sufficient income to sustain a promotion push.
If Brooks goes without Wilder's full agreement I would expect Wilder to follow if a good offer came in for his services, particularly from a Premiership side.

But hypothetically if we were offered 10 million and wilder was given the casting vote
Do you not think that given that is twice our budget for this season and every position in the team needs strengthening he might think it's a good deal for the club
 
£10m puts him on a par with the likes of Jordan Rhodes in the current transfer market. Fucking joke price. He's one of the top up and coming UK born talents around at the moment. If we have to sell him then £25m or fuck off.

Considering Brooks age, potential and the current transfer market, if Wilder thinks 10 million is a good deal for the club he has lost his marbles.

This is 2018 not 2008, the transfer market has moved on considerably.

Sorry I have to disagree.
Our signings have been Wilder inspired getting performances out of players after spending very low amounts on recruiting.
We need to up our game if we want to succeed but I appreciate that is not easy.
I do agree with other posters that if Brooks is to be sold £10 million is far to cheap based on current valuations.
As we are now we can remain a successful championship side but Wilder has his own ambitions.

Then we shall have to disagree. The winter signings barely seem to have improved the squad, let alone the first team. Every signing we make now should be a guaranteed starter based on ability and track record; that’s how we’ll improve, but it’ll cost considerably more than £750k a pop.

To be fair I think the injuries/illness to Coutts and Brooks dictated our transfer business this Jan.

Those two players are fit and I see Wilder blowing the entire budget in s CF...

However, plans change...

Why would a PL side want Wilder? This negative mind set of Bladey McBlade fans baffles me. He's had one season in the Championship.

PL clubs don't recruit manager without top flight experience.
 
Another thing to consider about the fee mentioned, the inflation, which is the reason Mahrez didn’t move.

How much will Spurs want for Kane?

150m? 160m? 200m?

And they are going to then roll up to little old Sheffield United and offer 10m? Fuck off!

Kane is an International player, I get it. So is Brooks.

Kane is valuable to Spurs and possibly the difference between them winning things and not. So is Brooks.

Kane has potential to get even better. So does Brooks and at 20, arguably more so. What was Kane doing at 20? Pottering on loan at Millwall or excelling against international teams?

Kane isn’t 20x the player Brooks is or will be. I’d be looking and saying if you think Kane is worth 150-200m then Brooks is worth 35m.

If he’s good enough to be part of the solution to replace Kane, then a 10m player isn’t going to fill that void. So he’s either good enough to be part of the solution or he isn’t. If he is then the fee has to reflect that and 10m is nowhere near that. It’s about a quarter of what it should be, especially if Kane can fetch 150-200m!

It’s not as if Liverpool won’t rival them anyway.

How much would he be worth after a season in the PL with us?

Make ‘em pay the inflated fees they are expecting to receive or even better, DON’T SELL.

We got £10m for the 2x Kyles with the bulk of that for Walker and look what he's worth. We are sat on a good player for our future or as we call it a gold mind to be cashed in while he's still cheap

Disagree with your statement: "as we are now we can remain a successful Championship side". You can never say that. Next season, without strengthening, could be an absolute disaster in this league. You have to be constantly looking to improve the squad and never assume that just because you did well in the previous season you are going to do well, or even better, in the next one. Look over at S6 for living proof of that.
