Can I say weaker? If, say, we lost Brooks, and gained Egan, Norwood, and Nahki Wells, would the team be weaker, or stronger?

Feel free ! But don't focus on the names, explore the principle and the possibilities. Can I say weaker?

I’ve no idea. They could all flop for all you know. I stand by my statement that 95% of the time after selling their best player a team is weaker. If, say, we lost Brooks, and gained Egan, Norwood, and Nahki Wells, would the team be weaker, or stronger?

I think he’s the player with the greatest development potential tbh!Are you saying brooks is our best player?
That may or may not be true, but Brooks isn't even first choice starter yet ?I’ve no idea. They could all flop for all you know. I stand by my statement that 95% of the time after selling their best player a team is weaker.
If Brooks hits top form this coming season he could be a massive player for us and could be the difference between hitting the top 6 or not. And that’s worth millions if we were to get promoted. If he doesn’t cut it we’ve not lost owt. We’d still make a tidy profit on him if we wanted to sell later.
Let’s see what he can do this season, illness behind him. My guess is his value will increase far beyond £12m if he starts the season well.
I don’t think he’s near his peak value to us yet. That’s why I’d stick for now.
NO. End of.
In terms of his technical ability with a ball, yes. If he stays with us this season, come the end of it he will be our best player by every definition. Are you saying brooks is our best player?
You think he’ll get a Bournemouth shirt Tezza? I think he’ll be about 5th or 6th choice but I know that wasn’t your point mate.anybody thinking we won’t sell for 12 million regardless of weather we could get more later on needs to open thier eyes, if this is a firm bid he’ll be in a bournmouth shirt come the start of the season, no doubt whatsoever.

Reasons not to sell Brooks for 12 million.
Our Squad: Sharp, Clarke and Duffy are ageing and Brooks will be competing for one of their positions. It makes no sense from a medium and long term point of view. The goal should be to get the average age of the squad down, and the monetary value up.We have no player of his type in the squad or even the development teams,so we we would have to outsource a replacement with only 12 million to play with. Clubs in the championship with a player of this ilk will want far in excess of this for their creative players. Those who disagree really haven't been paying attention to the current value of young, creative players. Norwich are looking for twenty million plus for a central midfielder, whilst raising 11 million for the utterly uninspiring Murphy. We'd have sold Murphy, pre Wilder, for 2-3 million.
What will 12 million buy you:
Twelve million will probably cover the fee and wages of two "proven" high end Championship players who play outside of the forward positions. You could spunk it all on one proven striker, or a couple of ageing strikers with little resale value or time left in the game. Is this really that tempting? Is this really how to build a squad in the longer term?
More likely, I feel, is that Wilder would either bring in several high end loan signings, or gamble on two or free lower league players e.g. Maddison and Marriott at Peterborough, as the overall package would more likely to fit into our budget. The lower league players are gambles, and it is always worrying when the foundations are built on the sand of loan signings.
Buy low, sell high.
Is twelve million the most David Brooks is going to be worth in the Championship? Is it more than he's ever going to be worth?
United are in a powerful position due to the diligent work of the board and manager. We have Brooks on a favourable long term deal. This is no Harry Maguire saga.In that case, we have to sell when he has reached the high point in his valuation.I think we'd be selling at the lowest point at this juncture.
Do we need the money?
Wilder has stated that he is happy with his budget, although it's not a high end championship budget.Any fee would have to be double or treble the current offer to make us competitive with those clubs in terms of wages and fees.We are well inside the financial regulations.
I'd take 500k in cash.
If you believe the ITK R
So would I, they still wouldn't be having Brooks though![]()
If you believe the ITK Rods Ready CW is struggling to attract players at the top end of the championship and loan players from the premiership because he doesn't want to break the wage ceiling and p*ss off other players.
