Admittedly I'm an old fart now, but I remember Klinsmann, Zola & Bergkamp arriving to play in England, they came for the much higher wages on offer in the newly formed Premiership..

Saudi is just using that blueprint, and it will be inevitable that their league becomes "the best league in the world" by paying the top players bigger wages to move to thier league.. History repeating itself..

On a side note, now you know why they tried to start a European super league a year or so ago, that was to create a new super league with higher TV and advertising revenue in order to keep the top players from going to Saudi, because uefa knew what was coming didn't they?

( I expect that idea to pass next time it gets put to the clubs)

Wasn't Bergkamp more due to him having a bad time at Inter? Serie A was the place to be in the 90s and they were paying just as much as PL clubs.
 
I dont get the issue, people are desperate for ITK information on this site, moment we have someone closer than anyone to being ITK everyone complains.

If Hecky has an issue with the Prince allowing Darren to release the information that he is being fed by the Prince then he should take it up with the Prince.

You would think that after the manager of your football club comes out in public and says what you're doing isn't helpful, you might stop doing it.

But I think Darren's ego is already out of control. He loves the attention too much to stop.

Klinsmann was playing in France too for mid table Monaco. He certainly wasn't at his peak by that point. I don't think the comparison with The Premier League and the Saudi League has any comparisons at all.

If you don’t like it, then don’t follow and if it’s an issue the Prince sharing info this way, no point shooting the messenger, take it up with the Prince. Or just mute the ‘X’ profile.

On the list of things worth getting upset about I can’t see how this even registers.

Dunno 100% I just remember world class players (who'd destroyed our national team more than once, arriving)

Couldn't have been a co-incidence that sky was charging for commercial television via a subscription and vialli (rip) n Shevchenko had moved to London..

Other than we paid a higher rate and all the mercenaries came over here, apart from that there's no difference at all..
 
I'll put it in plain English if some are struggling, the Saudi League will be the best league in the world, if they carry on paying what they are paying it can not be matched....

Not a phrase I'd use myself but I suppose if what's good enough for the POTUS (or not, depending on who you believe), is good enough for our illustrious leader! :)

I see lots of people thinking he’s a bit of a dick. However the constant use of the buzz word rattled could suggest it’s the leave poor Dazzler alone mob that are in fact rattled.

Clearly his info comes from the owner. That’s the Princes right. Personally l’d prefer such info to come from the club. Hecky or Bettis.

As for his analysis of the accounts, he comes in these days after discussions on here, and from Maguire and Swiss Ramble. His earlier solo takes left much to be desired.

Any calls to cancel (another buzz word) are a bit extreme - just ignore him - but l’d like to hear chapter and verse about what Hecky and Bettis actually think.

Disagree, it will never be the best in the world, absolutely no chance.

Players will go there, give it a year or 2 max and leave, then they'll replace. They won't retain all the players currently there for multiple years whilst adding, I don't buy into that.

Also, when the 2030 world cup is done, they'll lose interest, it's just a current fad to somehow promote Saudi as having a half respectable league.
 
It could host the masters championships. You know, the one for old has been footballers who can no longer play 90 mins on a full size pitch

Opinoins valid mate, I believe real historic teams should stay as they are, battling it out in Europe with each other.

But these footballers and thier wags, well they love a gucci house..

I don't think we were paying a higher rate than other countries in the 90s. Happy to be proven wrong but I think we were behind both Italy and Spain. Abramovich changed everything really in that regard.

I don't think Rhodri going to Man City is comparable with players going to Saudi Arabia right now essentially. The reason Rhodri went was as much to win trophies as money otherwise he'd have been at Chelsea
