Has anyone seen any comments from him after his sacking? Is it normal to have restrictions regarding media comments in contracts/pay off agreements?

What aspect of it are you interested in? It's inevitable that he'll have received a pay-off of some sort in return for having his contract canned.

Our slide continued under him, even though we were entertaining the first season. He's got a reputation for doing well in one season before things get really bad, and if there were factors that made things extra difficult for him I'd have thought he'd want to let people know.

There were comments from the club (may not have been official) which did contain criticism of his management.

He was a 3rd div manager who twice failed to get promotion. I'm sure he's critical of the job he did too

The guy was crap when we hired him and proved himself to be crap while he was here. His players passed the ball sideways given any opportunity. This convinced some that we were headed towards some sort of Barcelona style sunny footballing uplands when we were, in fact, slithering down the toilet.

Yes he was shit. Played the most attractive football seen at Hoofwaffe HQ for years. He would have achieved the goal had his leading scorer not gone to jail.

Second season while not being as good we were top of the table until Kmac sold our top scorer. Finally sacked even though promotion could have still been achieved with 5 games to go.

I know who I blame for failure and it isn't Wilson. I'm only guessing here but I think the reason we will always get diminishing returns with a manager is that if he doesn't do it first time round the owner gets itchy feet. This is generally followed by the sale of anyone decent being replaced by loans.

to be fair ,but for Ched getting sent down we would have gone up, as wed have beat all the 3 in our last 3 games , of that I have no doubt , we just totally lost focus with his absence, Wilson would have been a hero but for 15 minutes in a travelodge

Wilson was on a rolling contract wasn't he so they just wouldn't have renewed him in the summer. Maybe he has a bit too much class not to say anything, which also would look good to any future employers.

without that 15 minutes of madness, Evans would have been at Reading that season. He certainly wouldn't have played for us. Bad misconception

Agreed.

The sacking of experienced manager Wilson and replacing him with rookies Morgan and Weir has really improved things. Our record in all competitions since Wilson left

P12 W3 D3 L6.

Say what you like about Wilson, but we were always serious automatic promotion contenders under him. Hasn't looked like that since he left. We have maintained relegation form since then.

The only reason we did well in his first season was because we kept the guts of the whole team that brought us down , and secondly the pigs were still in this division , and their's no way no. 1 Blade would let the pigs get above us . Hence he kept the team and the expense that went with it , The team we had last season would have been our team 2 seasons ago and were reaping our relegation now. For those who thought getting rid of the pig was the answer guess again , Blade to long is right our heart of the team was ripped out when Ched was sent down and we stumbled into a play off final defeat , we now have a manager that in the run up to the season people could'nt belive we had , 2 weeks ago the man his pre season was built around , look at the scabs game , went and now we have to start from scratch yet again , other managers would'nt take the job as they did'nt have loads of money to spend , not even a pot to pee in , only 4 games in but unless at least 2 -3 players come in before transfer deadline day , I think it's another year in this hole of a league . Thats my best sealion impession .{ A clapper making lots of noise } .U.T.B.

Right now, our biggest non-Superblade discussion point is how we are set up. Shouldc we try and make our artisans better footballers and fit them into a modern formation and pattern or should recognise the limitations of the talent at our disposal and work something out from there? The latter argument currently ( I think) holds sway.

Danny Wilson did that first half of last season and got pelters because we didnt win 4-0 every week. he then lost both our strikers to injury and the JTW.

By the requirements he was given, yes he failed, but given the tools he had at his disposal I think he did as good a job as could be expected. Put it this way, we'll have a lot worse in the future.

I really think people forget just how well we played (especially at home) in Wilson's first year. We were unstoppable at times, control, possession, incisiveness, goals. We often had to be patient as teams came and parked the bus, but more often than not our control of the game tired opposition out and we broke through eventually. On the number of points we gained that year, it really was bad luck to a degree that we didn't go up (but let's not go over that again...)

It went wrong the next year, but then we lost decent players like Quinn and Williamson (and Ched) which had enabled the pattern of play to work the previous year. Teams realised that we couldn't hold the ball as well in midfield and pushed up and harried our midfield more (if they'd done it the previous season they'd have been murdered). Wilson's failure was being able to adapt to the loss of the players and change the style.

He seemed to follow his usual pattern. Really good first season (undoubtably a success but for Welsh libido), then tailing off massively in his second.

We did, but that relegated team was a gutless, atrocious mess. Wilson turned it round and got a team relegated with a whimper, playing decent stuff.

of course had we gone up , incomes better. lets not forget was kev who paid 40 k a week for beattie in the championship

Not sure we ever did pay anything like 40k for him but the crux of your point is correct.

near enough , under wilson we collected 90 points ,normally more than enough for automatic , many in here , like they are again predicted div 2 footballl within 12 months then, , weve managed the playoffs in both seasons, a sense of reality seems to fly out the window if we arent 6 points clear at the top , I expect us to turn it around, not bothered if its not till xmas ,but we will get better, the problems are surmountable, we are not a headless chicken owing millions to the tax man, weve lost 2 games, oh dear , hang on so have swansea , their fans must be fearing the worst

Lets also remember where we were when Wilson got the sack, i think with the start we have had a lot of blades would take that as our finishing position this season.

There's also a pattern of all his best players being sold after his good season. At Swindon he lost Gordon Greer, Charlie Austin, Billy Paynter and Alan Sheehan and it was a similar story after his first season at the Lane.

Blades supporters do make me laugh sometimes. Can't blame the current manager as he hasn't had five minutes in the job, so lets blame the last one instead.....the one with (as I'm led to believe) the highest win percentage of any Blades manager in history. Ffs :)

The man was cruelly unlucky in his first season and robbed of an opportunity to put it right in the second season.
