I seem to remember at the start of the season he had a bet with a Bkaxe that we'd Godwin and the Blade said he'd bet his house we wouldn't.
He's the after dinner speaker at a do I'm going to Friday. I'd like the exact quote if someone can put me in the right direction. I'm hoping there's a Q and A after his talk :)

You have to remember that Danny Mills supports Norwich City....he’s Norwich born and bred. His 2nd team are Leeds United

So our club is never going to be on his Xmas card list......bet he’s really hurting at seeing our success this season whilst his club are relegated.

Why on earth would anyone ask Danny Mills to be an after dinner speaker? He’s thick and talks crap. Nearly as bad as the time a few years go when my employer got the utterly bonkers Garth Crooks to do a motivational talk - he tried to sound intelligent but failed miserably and nobody could understand what the hell he was talking about.

Have to say Emlyn Hughes was the worst after dinner speaker i ever had the displeasure to hear.

As long as it was an informed & thought-out view, why does it matter if he (or any other pundit) thought SUFC would get relegated? Many fans did so too!

Jack Charlton was a good after dinner speaker.

He stood up, looked around the room and said, "well I can see we have a few ladies in the audience, so I just want to apologise up front, and let you know I sometimes use "colourful" language, just to help tell a story..........."

"anyway.....I was stood, as a young footballer, freezing my fuckin bollocks off, on the training pitch......"

And that set the tone for the evening.

He told a ton of funny stories, and a lot about the World Cup, "are any of you lot old enough to remember 1966?......" (loads of cheering and applause)

He also said that Nobby Stiles was without a doubt, the toughest bloke he had ever met. He said that away from the pitch, he was lovely, mild mannered, would never dream of causing trouble, but as soon as he stepped onto the pitch, it was like someone flicking a switch, and he was suddenly hard as nails. Some payer giving one of our lads a hard time, just give Stiles the nod, look at the offender, and a few minutes later a nasty tackle would occur.

Anyway, drifted off topic, sorry lads.

So, Danny Mills..........

If a former player can’t judge a team or a player then they have no right to become a manager but if they are so bad at measuring a team then they must become a pundit because that is the only job that they can do...talk about it!

Jack Charlton was a good after dinner speaker.

He was the only after dinner speaker whose stories I thought might be believeable Grappler.

He told one at an event I was at, it was kind of an afterthought because it was during a Q&A he was doing, but one of the best I've heard.

It concerned comments he'd made in the press when England appointed Eriksson as manager and he didn't think the FA should have appointed a foreign coach.

He said they were in Albania for a WC qualifier and he was with the media in the same hotel as the England team when Eriksson came over to his table.

Wanting to get in first he stood up and offered Eriksson his hand saying "Hello Sven, I'm Jack Charlton and I want to wish you luck, if you read anything I said in the papers it wasn't personal"

Eriksson just looked him straight in the eye and said "Jackie, don't you remember me?"

Charlton just looked blankly at him. "No, I don't think so"

"Well, when you were manager of Sheffield Wednesday I was coach at Gothenburg and I wrote to you asking if I could study your training methods"

"And you said yes, and I stayed at your house for three days"

So while other countries were appointing disciples of Cryuff, the English FA went for a student of Jackie Fucking Charlton.

On Jack Charlton as an after dinner speaker, we had him once at a company do in Stoke and our MD was a big football fan, Port Vale season ticket holder and once very briefly, chairman of the club.

He stood up to introduce Big Jack and said that although he was well known as a big, tough centre half and World Cup winner, he was also a lot more skilful than he was ever given credit for. Big Jack stood up and his first words were, and I quote “Fuckin’ ‘ell, a lot of people have accused me of a lot of things over the years, but skilful!......”

He was excellent, articulate and very funny, manager of Ireland at the time.

It's a cheap do :)

Can you ask him who's family he kidnapped to get 19 England caps?

Or more importantly, you need to remember, Danny Mills is a twat.

Yes, that’s fair game then. I don’t get the clamour to jump on pundits just because they thought United would struggle. But fair play if they spout lazy shit about being ‘direct.’
Strangely, I think we have become more direct of late, plenty of over the top balls etc. Probably due to the quality of the opposition, and hopefully doesn't become the norm.

I have the quote here
"Hey, Bkaxe. I think you lot will Godwin"

Additionally I have the response.

"Oh, Dablet. I think you're wrangle their. In fact I'm willing to butter my mouse on it"

You're welcome

Ask him how he feels being labelled a bald fraud.
